This was always one of my favorite local restaurants. The last time I was there, the food has gone down hill due to the new chef. I got a piece of tiramisu to go and ate it when I got home. I bit down on something extremely hard and it was a metal bolt!!! I called the restaurant and they told me next time my dessert will be free. Seriously? I almost broke my tooth could have swallowed a piece of metal and they didn’t seem to care. Don’t think I will be going back.

My husband took me to this restaurant for Mothers Day. Food was delicious ! Their tomato sauce is great. Everyone was warm and friendly. Only thing is they definitely need to update their décor. Other then that it was a great experience. Would highly recommend for those in the South Plainfield area.

From out of town and was looking for a restaurant close to my hotel. Being all Italian i usually stay away from Italian restaurants that I do not know. However I was cold and tired and in need of some pasta ! I found Adeline’s on Unilocal and it was only A few miles away. Well was very surprised from the salad to the soup to my tortellini and shrimp in pesto sauce. Everything was great ! Would highly recommend to anyone !

I don’t know why this place has such low reviews. Me and my boyfriend loved the food. A guy who I think was the owner warmly greeted us as we entered the restaurant. Yes, the décor needs to be updated but it’s the food that we were there for. My only real complaint was that the waitress didn’t seem especially friendly. Not very warm. Other than that, everything was great! I had the veal parm, which was delicious. I forget what my boyfriend had, but he was also pleased with his food.

Adeline’s has been flying under the radar in South Plainfield for years. Almost everyone I know from the area knows about the place but hardly anyone has been there. The décor is a bit stale and outdate but the waitresses and owner are always pleasant. Unfortunately the place just doesn’t get alot of traffic and it always seems empty when we go there. The food is moderately priced and generally very good. I love their tomato sauce, which is a rarity, so this place finds a spot in my heart. They even have a coupon on their website to drive traffic but I can never bring myself to use one there. Its probably the cheapest quality meal in the area for four people.

I’m an Italian food addict. Every neighborhood that I live in, the first thing that I seek out is a little Italian place that’s not too busy, and has an awesome red sauce. For my home in South Plainfield, Adeline’s is that place. Our appetizer was really tasty. My veal dish was wonderful, and my wife really liked her entrée. The surprising thing was the tiramisu, which completely floored my wife and me both. That’s no easy task, since my wife and I have totally different tastes in tiramisu. The one complaint that I noticed in their other reviews was overcooked pasta. They give you a generous amount of their excellent tomato sauce, and the sauce is piping hot, which does tend to cook the pasta a little more than it should, but with sauce that good, I don’t really care. As a side note, the restaurant seems to be run by the family that owns it. The man and women(who I believe are brother and sister, not husband and wife) are incredibly pleasant and attentive. You could go to one of the myriad chain restaurants in the area and know exactly what you’re going to get, but where’s the fun in that? Besides, if you don’t support local, family restaurants like Adeline’s, you’ll have nobody to blame but yourself when every restaurant becomes a Taco Bell(like in the classic action film, Demolition Man, which I assume the AFI just forgot to include on their Top 100 list).

My husband and I ate here a while back. It also is close to our home. About 8 blocks. I agree with Jennifer the service was great, the owner was nice and friendly. Where I disagree is with the food. I ordered steak and my husband ordered the chicken cacciatore and both were good. The only complaint that I would have is that it was a little colder in the room then I would have cared for, but a sweater would relieve me of that issue had I worn one. I will be posting again as I am planning a networking event at this location. I have found that many times the smaller hor dourves and plates aren’t as good as the full menu. As I have a very discerning palate, I’ll be happy to report how this turns out.

I wish I could say more positive things about this place but I can’t. The service was great, the owner was so nice and friendly… but that was basically it. This place is three blocks from my house. I’ve passed by it endless amount of times and always wanted to try it and finally did last Friday before watching Eat, Pray, Love.(I knew that movie would make me crave pasta after watching it so we ate pasta for dinner.) My boyfriend and I ordered simple pasta dishes. I don’t know about you but if you’re going to an italian restaurant, you would expect good pasta no? No. I ended up ordering the CHEESERAVIOLI with a side a meatballs(optional side of meatballs or sausage for additional $ 3). My bf tried the CAPPELLINICARBONARA. They said that the ravioli was homemade with ricotta filling, which what it tasted like, BUT the filling was definitely missing something. All ricotta, no seasoning. I’m sure some simple salt and pepper would have helped but I didn’t taste a pinch of it. The meatballs were large and pretty tasty I must say. They sold Peroni beer, not on tap though… *cricket…cricket*
