Check Your Receipt!
This store was bought over by a new outfit (looks like Dominicans) about six months ago, and I have visited five times. Every time I was robbed by the cashiers. They put a lot of things on sale at the store but the cashiers ALWAYS rings up the regular price and you have to call the manager to get it sorted out. Of course the manager always has a lame excuse as to why the cash register is not automatically discounting the regular price to reflect the sale price. Once or twice might be a mistake, but every time means it is deliberate and dishonest. I never had this kind of problem with the prior management of Key Food. These people are a disgrace and will be reported to consumer affairs as I have several receipts to prove it, along with pictures of the sales items in the store on said date. I will continue to go there to monitor this practice until Consumer Affairs takes care of their sleezy ways. Check your receipt before leaving the cash register.

I actually like this key food. They have a wide variety of ethnic foods and spices. They can be a bit pricey but sometimes they have really good sales. It is often crowded but they have enough cashiers to assist the customers.
Sometimes the guy in the deli department doesn’t listen when you ask for your cold cuts to be sliced thin. But that’s just one guy.
I’ve never had a problem with anything not being fresh.

Unlike the other reviews, I have to say that compared to other chain grocery stores in the area, this key food is not about saving customers money. Besides pricing (id much rather drive to Howard Beach’s Waldbaums 10 mins away & pay less for the same exact item), my biggest complaint is their absolutely gross habit of selling meat that is browning and smelly. On more than one occasion, I have bought beef and chicken with a rather foul odor, leading me to constantly have to go back and return. something’s gotta change !

ROTTED and LIMP VEGETABLES! THEIR PRODUCE DEPT IS DISGUSTING AND NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE! Not the first time I go into this store to find that they don’t care about what they put out for their customers. Brussels sprouts were black and rotted, same went for the peppers and turnips! Leafy greens were limp and disgusting. I asked for the «Produce Manager» and nobody knew who he was! I asked for for owner and he was missing in action too! I am calling the Department of Health Right Now! They have no Respect for the customers ! Boycott this disgusting place!

Is it me? I noticed this store doesn’t sell beer.

Just your local chain grocery store. Nothing special or unique. Their bread is fresh and so is their produce. The cashiers move pretty quickly.

Not the greatest key food, very limited variety. Prices are cheap but they don’t seem well stocked to me. Produce section was pretty impressive however somethings were pretty pricey. $ 4.99 per lb for asparagus… ummm no thanks! It’s also pretty annoying that you can’t take out your shopping cart to the parking lot, its not like I would leave with bags of groceries anyway with their limited selections of items so I guess it doesn’t really matter now does it?

This is a local grocery store, and the prices are cheap but I have quite a FEW problems with them. They refuse to take printed coupons to spite coming from legitimate websites like redplum, or manufacturers coupons that are emailed to me. Last Thanksgiving we got a turkey from them that went straight in the garbage because the entire turkey was BLACK and BLUE. How does a frozen turkey turn BLACK and BLUE? I still could not tell you. I have gotten chicken from them with the same problem, it was packaged (Key Food brand chicken) and the chicken breast looked fine, and then when I opened it up and turned the chicken breast over it was again black and blue. And they store refused to give me my money back for buying their scam! I have gotten chips a’hoy cookies from them with spider webs and maggots in the cookies.
It their prices were not so affordable I would never shop here. Certainly BUYER BEWARE!

Okay, so it’s a grocery store – what is there to say? But the truth is that I’ve been going here for years and I’ve never been disappointed. The produce is always fresh. The deli is well-​stocked. The only downside I’ve noticed is that you’re not allowed to take the shopping carts full of your groceries out to the parking lot – so you either need someone else to pull a car up while you wait and protect the goods or just bring your own cart (you know – the one those of us without cars use to haul EVERYTHING) and hoof it home with your food.
