I’ve been a customer since the place opened a few decades ago. I’ve been treated like family and I adore staff and the service they provide. I wear glasses and need prescription sunglasses. They have the best selection of high-end brands like Tom Ford, Oliver Peoples and Persol I have seen in Miami. Plus they have great coffee and free parking in the back. With stores across South Florida, the South Miami store is the original and my favorite. I love Edward Beiner and recommend them without hesitation.

Apparently every single pair of sunglasses I tried on «LOOKSGREAT!» on me according to the sales associate. In my opinion, 90% of the frames did not look good on me. For a few months, I searched for a unique, sturdy pair of frames for prescription sunglasses. Unfortunately I didn’t find what I was looking for at Edward Beiner since my face is kind of small and nothing fit nicely. I thought it was weird that I didn’t really get any honest feedback from the sales associate who sat across from me as I tried on 20 pairs of frames. She seemed more interested in getting me to hurry up and pick out a $ 500 frame than getting a frame I would be happy with in the long run.

Terrible service. I went in to buy a pair of O’Malley by Oliver Peoples, and they did not have anymore. I made an order with Karla, the sales representative, who told me I would receive a call in a few days when they arrived. I did not receive such a call. The next day, I called myself, and the same rep. told me they may be on back order, and that she would look into the matter and give me a call back. I did not receive a call back. Two days later, I called and spoke with the manager, and she took my name, and told me she would speak with Karla and return my call when the store was not busy. I did not receive a call back. I ended up ordering the glasses from Oliver Peoples, and I am very disappointed with how this service from E.B.

I’m an absolute shades snob. But as such, you won’t find me shopping for a pair of Prada’s or Gucci’s or Christian Dior sunglasses at Neiman Marcus or some other luxury department store. I spend my dough at Edward Beiner. If you’re like me and quality+style supersedes designer name, then EB might as well be home. While the store certainly carries a healthy supply of the aforementioned brands(and other less flashy makes), they do so much more. Namely, the Edward Beiner house brand is classic and awesome. For half the price, you’ll find a core selection of different frames matched with customizable lenses. I usually hang onto a pair of sunglasses for 3+ years, so I’m more than happy to spend the money where it counts. My last visit ended with a Paul Smith choice. Matte toirtoise-shell-like frame with a set of polarized lenses, and I feel great. If you’re vision impaired, there’s an eye doc on staff and they can hook you up with those sexy dark-rimmed glasses that go from serious to seriously handsome in the same breath. While I haven’t ever visited any of the other EBs in South Florida, I’ve always been a fan of this particular store. The staff is great and even encourages you to try on pair after pair. And for those of you who don’t enjoy a salesperson trailing your every move and unlocking the glass doors to reveal the next cool option, you’ll be thrilled to hear the shades are on display without lock and key.
