The two things I need with auto service are trust and competence. I’ve been bringing my cars to this Tuffy for a number of years and I’ve never been dissatisfied with the service and I’ve always felt they were honest. Today’s experience was a prime example. I brought my car in for its 90,000 mile maintenance checklist and mentioned that the brakes were making some noise. They could have easily told me my pads were gone and my rotors were gouged and needed replacing. Instead they told me I had plenty of pads left and the noise was nothing to worry about — probably just a little rust. They told me I did need to flush the differential fluid, which I didn’t question since they have built my trust.

They have fair prices, they have fair service, they(usually) don’t try to screw or trick you. I’ve heard that if you can’t afford(all or part of) something right away, they will send you a postcard for 10% off in a few months to remind(incentivize) you to get it fixed. It’s almost always the same two guys working there(one manager, one mechanic), and even with that, they are usually able to get you in and out within a day(obviously depending on how severe of work you need done). They don’t try to get you to get every little thing checked or serviced or changed or fixed or whatever(especially if you are a woman, and we all know how women are usually taken advantage of in these types of establishments — not here that I’ve seen) — they will tell you«no, you don’t need that done» or «its worn but you should be able to drive it another few months before you should really think about fixing it». One of the times we were here, we had something looked at, got a quote to fix it, but before having it fixed we happened to find out(by calling the dealer to compare prices for same service) that it was covered under dealer’s extended warranty anyway(so we ended up taking it to the dealer instead since it would be free) — they didn’t charge us a diagnostic fee or any other stupid fee(like some other places do). We’ve really had nice experiences here — they seem to be good people. 4 stars seems appropriate.
