Every time I come home to visit this is the first place I go to have breakfast. Southern hospitality and great breakfast and lunch!

What a precious little spot. Sitting here enjoying some low level Creedence Clearwater, eating a most delicious veggie breakfast burrito– chorizo added, chatting with extremely nice and efficient waitress about things that matter, surrounded by locals that know this is a sweet, affordable breakfast joint. Just what the doctor ordered on this rainy, beautiful Tuesday morning. Thanks Meyers Downtown. Perfection. See you soon.

Friendly environment, excellent down home cooking. I had the Redneck Benedict and my husband had the ultimate hash browns, generous portions at an excellent price. And they are as tasty as they look! Billy the proprietor is as cool as they come, we will definitely return

This place is by far my FAVORITE breakfast and lunch spot in Tahoe. Plus it’s close to home. Barb, Billy, and Micah are awesome! Always friendly and bomb food. Cash and check only. Which is no problem if you know ahead of time lol I will always recommend this place!!!

Meyers Downtown Café is by far mine and my husband’s favorite place to have brunch! The staff treats us like family and the food is always amazing. They make amazing sweet tea, bloody mary’s and mimosas which go great along with literally anything and everything on their menu. My husband always goes for the chicken fried steak and my favorite is the grilled cheese sandwich with bacon served on parmesan encrusted sourdough which pairs perfectly with their homemade tomato soup. I love that pups are welcome on the patio and that bowls of water are provided so they stay hydrated.

This place has the rustic charm you like in a breakfast spot. My kids wanted to sit at the bar so we did. My wife had an omelette and I had the hash browns with egg and avocado. Kids had Mickey Mouse Pancakes and an egg. All this for only $ 30? Please note CASHONLY! We chatted with Barb and Billy and the other waitress were very friendly. Homemade biscuit was tasty too. Would definitely return.

I can’t say I get back to my hometown as much as a should, but it is always nice to visit the Downtown Café while I am here. Right off of Highway 50 after you’ve entered the basin from Echo Summit, Barb and Billy have a really sweet café that gets so many thing just right. Having been born and raised in Lake Tahoe I love getting back to my favorite breakfast spots, simpler menus with some really solid recipes. Kick back a bit, enjoy the small town joy and have some tasty food. Atmosphere: simple and homey, some local paintings and Tahoe emphemera Crowd: a locals favorite, including my dad who is always there sharing dad jokes Try: Redneck Benedict, biscuits and gravy with a poached egg topper

Excellent. Cheap, lots of food, and great service. Went with a party of 6 and got seated immediately(I think the place next door had a 30 min wait). As a partial native to Texas, the chicken fried steak was authentic. Coffee was solid. Everyone else’s meal looked great – banana pancakes, French toast, godfather huevos, eggs Benedict, and walnut pancakes. Everyone was happy!

I lived in Meyers for years and this place is the hidden gem of Tahoe. Small place right outside of town with big flavor. Always consistent great taste. The eggs Benedict and the redneck breakfast are the best in the state! Good hearted friendly owners and staff make for a true southern feel. Now that I no longer live in Tahoe this is my favorite place to stop every time I am here. Do yourself a favor and stop by Downtown café for breakfast. You will be glad you did

If I can give this place zero stars, I would. I DONOT know how this place got the 4 plus stars rating. What is wrong with people?! Lets talk about a few points: Ambience: Old and dirty. Chairs are old with no cushion and the table cloths are those old plastic table cloths fruity designs. Bathroom has not toilet seat covers and the floors were sticky. :( Customer Service: Horrible! We didn’t get greeted. There was only ONE other table of customers sitting there so it wasn’t like they were busy. We didn’t get a «hi» or welcome”. It was sit anywhere you want. OK, I can take a little rude. Then the lady gave us water on nasty yellowed stained plastic cups with chips around the rim. Really?! After we walked in, another group of customers sat down. I looked around, the other tables had cleaned new like cups. Their cups were stacked on the shelf where it is viewable. My friend and I looked and saw that the cleaned new like cups were stacked together and the nasty old chipped cups were stacked together. So it’s not like they couldn’t have grabbed the newer cups for our table. Food: ALRIGHT. They didn’t have anything special on the menu. Their French toast was very doughy and bland. The bacon was way over cooked and salty. They waffle was eh. They can cook eggs. I’ll give them that. Paying the bill: I paid the bill and there was change to come back to me. When the lady came back with the change, I stuck my hand out to receive it but she literally just dropped the bill and change onto the table. I felt like I just got thrown my money back in my face!!! WTF? On top of that, one of the dimes that she gave back to me was covered in mold or something that looked like mold. WTF? I was pssed! Left them a shitty tip. I should have left them nothing. We should have walked out the moment we walked in. BUT we wanted to give this place a chance since everyone on Unilocal gave them raving reviews. I WOULDNOTRECOMMENDTHISPLACETOANYONE!!! DONOTEATHERE! If you want good food, hop on over to the next lot and check out The Getaway instead.

The food is great. The older gentleman and younger waitress are fine. However, the older female waitress(not an owner) is one of the rudest waitresses I’ve ever encountered. Dismissive, overcharges for food, snatches the bill from your hand, doesn’t bother to get coffee refills without being asked, argues with anything you say. I will be back, but if this thing is working, I will leave. I forgot to add: when this particular waitress sneezed loudly into her hands(loud enough for almost everyone in the café to «bless» her), she said thank you and picked up another patron’s food to deliver to the table. She never washed her hands. Disgusting.

This place was right next to rental and rated well so we tried it. It feels cozy and family run, with great staff. Kid friendly – they provide coloring and kid menu for the kids to color. From that, we ordered the Mickey Mouse pancake and burger. The burger was no frills and dry like a brick. I ordered the ultimate hashbrowns which had sour cream, salsa-sauce, and avocado with scrambled eggs. The grilled chicken sandwich was okay, but did not seem to be grilled too well… Overall, decent enough to be 3 or 4 stars.

Two words: parmesan sourdough! You’re probably visiting Tahoe for a few days looking for a place to eat, right? Look no further because this little mom & pop eatery is too good to pass up. I ordered the veggie grilled cheese and was sad when I finished my last bite. Everyone’s plate was clean at the end of the meal. Lunch entrees are served with your choice of fries or house made pasta salad Service is super friendly & attentive. We’ll definitely be coming back for the Parmesan sourdough when we’re in town again!

This review is more on the personnel. The employees here were Super attentive and such sweethearts! From what I perceive their focus is great customer service and that to me is a HUGE win! Oh, and it’s a CASHONLY place. So bring your money and leave the plastic!

Super sweet people and home style café. It’s very small though but they do their best to accommodate everyone! They make you feel at home. Breakfast here was good but it’s honestly not close enough for me to drive to on a regular basis because of the distance but I will visit at some point again and it’s great if you are coming I and out of town from Sacramento. Cute cabin style old Tahoe décor and feel. It feels like you went to breakfast in a bed and breakfast where a family wakes up and cooks for you. Great people here though, I can’t stress that enough!

I adore this place! Came in early for breakfast on my way home from Tahoe and was greeted by a lovely older gentleman who offered me a coffee before I could even sit down. Now that’s a good start to the morning! It’s a small and quaint café that probably gets super busy and lively with locals for a late Sunday breakfast(I was there around 7 am and had the place to myself and one other table). I got a spinach and cheddar omelette, which came with has browns and toast. So. Much. Good. Food. Everything was under $ 10, and I left with a full and happy belly.
