Service was awful. Hostess dropped menus off and never asked if we wanted anything to drink and rude. Food was bland! Cauliflower was 9 $ and it was mutilated and tasteless. Poke was good, but the portion was on a huge plate with hardly any food. Disappointed but music was good. I never write reviews but maybe they should tell staff to be nice. We would have ordered more food but turned off by appetizers.

Our server erika was absolutely amazing. The food is usually great but was a little lacking this time around. Still love this place tho!

Wanted to grab a couple beers and a snack while in south lake on a Sunday afternoon. Base Camp was packed and had no seating at the bar, so we headed over to gunbarrel on the recommendation of the barista at Starbucks. Glad we did. The atmosphere was chill, and the service was very friendly and fast. Not to mention the beer selection was good. The menu was varied and the dishes we saw going out looked great and well presented, but as we weren’t there for a full meal, we settled on some wings and Brussels sprouts, and they really hit the spot. Phil, our bartender was great. Would definitely return for a full meal.

We couldn’t have been happier with our meal here and awesome service as well. We sat at the bar, had the cauliflower, street tacos and sweet potato fries. All were amazing and I would come back here in a heartbeat! Amazing menu!

This place has the worst service. I’m a server myself and I was so disappointed at the lack of attention we got. Not only did I have to get up and get my own drink menu because the hostess, I guess assumed I didn’t want to drink anything at lunch, was the first red flag. This place had all these servers just standing around not doing anything and we are waiting for 15 minutes to be noticed. Did I mention there was only maybe 6 people in the whole place. Then my boyfriend asked for a cheese sub on a plate, not only did he not get the cheese, but the cooks and the servers had a discussion about it so that everyone could hear. This place has potential, but needs some big changes like hiring people who are competent.

The bison burger and beet salad were both very good. The chips and soda were okay. The seating was not very comfortable. But there was no line during the lunch rush.

We were seated, one server for the entire outdoor area on a holiday weekend? Awful. We sat there for 20 minutes and not one person came up to us. When I went inside to ask if we had a server she told us with attitude«she’s busy» we ended up leaving and they were not apologetic. There are way better places to go a stones throw away, go there instead. This place is clearly relying on location and nothing else.

I would give this a 10 star if I could, purely based on the fact that the staff at Gun Barrel is AMAZING. The outdoor bar and fire pits were extremely inviting, and we enjoyed some great live music outside. The star of this place though, by FAR, is the bartender Pat. He was beyond accommodating and extremely tolerant with my lack of knowledge of mixed drinks. The Sous Chef, Justin, also came out to make sure we were all satisfied with our service. By far the best spot to stop at for great food, excellent service, and fantastic company and conversation. Will absolutely be back the next time in Tahoe.

Weekends are terrible in the village so finding a restaurant on a whim is near impossible. Fortunately, Gunbarrel Tavern & Eatery’s sign in sheet also accepts cell phone numbers if you wanna walk around while waiting. The greeter was nice and had a calm demeanor in the midst of all the snow bunny chaos that was going on outside. She told us it was possible that all other restaurants in the village had a wait time of an hour so the best thing to do was to hop on a wait list and give her our number so that when a table opened up, she’d give us a ring. Glad we did, ’cause forty five minutes later we found ourselves sitting in the back dining room sippin on some potent raspberry mule and beer. Our waitress was super chill. She over heard me saying that I was split between the«Tower 16» Tuna(ahi poke, mango, avocado, wonton chips, wasabi whip cream, soy-tsume) or the Pan Seared Ahi Salad and recommended the Tower 16 over the salad. Although the«tower» wasn’t really a tower I was still glad I ordered the ahi poke because the fish was so delicious. You can definitely tell that the fish was fresh and the packed avocado on the bottom of the bowl made it even better. I wasn’t so found of the caramel that was designed all over my plate because somehow it’d end up on my hands(you can tell that display is important here) and I hate having sticky hands but I was overall happy with my meal. The feel of the dinning area was more relaxed than the bar area although the overall vibe was industrial. The communal restrooms are outside of the dinning room but the facilities are well kept. If you have the opportunity to and the weather permits, I’d suggest chilling outside next to the fire pit. It’s quite cozy out there and also has a portable bar outside for those that may have to wait for their table.

Horrible service on our visit and even worse was the greasiest vegetarian dishes I have ever seen. The response when I pointed out how greasy the cauliflower dish was absolutely dismissive. Dirty tables with food in all the knots made this a really bad experience. We had heard a few good things about this place so we were disappointed to say the least.

We put our name down here as well as base camp pizza which is right across the shopping center. Both had over an hour wait, but base camp pizza was estimated at 2 – 2.5 hours for 4 on a Saturday night. Gun Barrel was great. We ordered the tri-tip sandwich, wedge salad, and Brie and arugula grilled cheese. All of them were yummy and the service was attentive and timely.

I had high hopes for this place but the food was a huge let down. Walked in and there was a 35 to 45 min wait(small inside seating areas) and when it is cold and snowing outside, you want inside seating! So we sat at the bar. We ordered a couple beers and the Tower 16 ahi tuna mango guacamole appetizer –super good!!! That was the best part of the entire meal!!! After ordering the app and our meals, we thought man we ordered too much food… not the case at all! Don’t waste your time on the $ 13 bowl of clam chowder. It was good but it was only a small cup. Not worth $ 13. $ 13 for a bowl of soup, I expected a big old bowl like dinner size, fill me up with no room to add more food. Nope it was just a baby size small starter type cup. Bison burger plus cheese plus bacon about $ 17… it didn’t excite me. The bun was over sized, bacon crispy burnt, only a quarter size drop of special sauce. I was pretty sad with this burger. I expected something that melted in my mouth. That didn’t happen. Maybe people just go here for the bar service??? Food wasn’t all that. We won’t be going back.

Great customer service with the waitress and bartenders. The chicken sandwich was very flavorful, but the chicken was pretty thinly cut. The Brie grilled cheese with bacon was tasty. Good beers. Steep in price — $ 60 for 2 sandwiches and 3 beers.

Great service from hostess to waitress and busboy. Very friendly which is always welcome when you are parents traveling with kids. It helps with the stress level. Food was good. I had a tri tip sandwich. The blue cheese and arugula gave the sandwich a nice flavor that I enjoyed. However the meat was on bland and dry side. My daughter had the mac and cheese, and again on the bland side. My wife had the short rib and pasta I think which was real good(I had a taste of it). Meat was nice and juice and tender.

Been in here a few times but mainly for drinks on cold winter evenings, but this time we came in hungry and there was too much of a wait at Base Camp Pizza so we came over here and we sure are glad we did. We were just looking for some snack foods but they delivered! We ordered the Sweet Potato fries and the nachos. Needless to say we were beyond stuffed and satisfied when we left. The fries were fabulous and crispy and crunchy and the dipping sauces were good and a nice variety for anyones taste. The nachos were very filling and there was plenty for two people as a meal. The prices were pretty good for what you receive and the fast and friendly service made it well worth the visit. I will come back again for sure.

The Gunbarrel Tavern is located in Heavenly Village near the gondola. There is quite a bit of seating outside on a patio. They have both heaters and firepits on cold days. The name of the restaurant is Gunbarrell named after the famous ski run coming down the face at He as venly ski resort. After riding the gondola and doing some window shopping, i decided to grab some lunch here. There menu is quite extensive from salads and soups to appetizers and main dishes I settled on the bison burger with cheddar cheese. With the burger comes homemade chips. These are like kettle chips, thick and crunchy with a cajun, paprika spice. The burger comes on a very soft brioche bun with lettuce, tomatos and pickles. The burger was probably one of the best I have ever had. The meat was moist and tasty and cooked just right. Definitely will be back.

The food was very mediocre and definitely overpriced. We came for happy hour, and I was disappointed to find that there were almost no food deals for happy hour. We tried the fire-roasted cauliflower, which had little flavor and was too oily for me to enjoy. It came in tiny pieces of cauliflower, instead of large chunks of the flowers, so it was hard to eat without scooping around for them. Their special nachos were mostly chips without toppings, and I could probably make better ones at home. We also tried the Braised Beef Short Rib by recommendation of the waiter. The meat was tender, but was a small portion, and not worth $ 31. However I did enjoy the mashed potatoes that came with. I think the best dish we had was the Bison Burger, but even so, it was a very standard burger that wasn’t anything special. There are many other restaurants that I would pick in Heavenly Village instead of Gunbarrel Tavern. Although those places may have longer lines, it’s definitely worth it for better food than here.

It seems like no matter why I’m in South Lake Tahoe, I end up at Gunbarrel. We’ve never had the food there and I’ve never even been inside. The patio has everything I need — drinks, fire pit, music, and people watching. The patio fills up pretty quickly, so you might get stuck with the not awesome seats — like right next to a speaker or somewhere far away from the fire pit. But just keep your eye out and eventually seats will open up and you can snag a better one. The servers have always seemed kind of annoyed by us when we sit down and say we are just staying for drinks and then we never see them anywhere near our table again. Because of this, we just assume that we need to walk up to the outside bar to grab drinks. Every bartender we’ve had at the outside bar is extremely personable. They love to talk with you and are just all around nice guys. The drinks are typical Tahoe prices(i.e. expensive). The music/musicians vary between genres and quality. But I think they try to keep it somewhat family friendly and inoffensive.

Went back a second time, this time at a table. Server was pretty clueless. The problem is these young kids pay no attention to detail! Order the cauliflower tacos and got a plate of cauliflower. Eye rolls from the server on Jan 6th. When it came back they just put the cauliflower into 4 corn tortillas and called it a day. Now if I had been the server bringing this out I would have seen that it looked nothing like the photo I posted and the customer will know that you just poured that cauliflower right into the tortillas with no thought into the presentation of the menu item dish! Where’s your manager when you need them for consistency? Not your best feature but then again maybe they don’t care about customer service and consistency since its a tourist destination? I hope that’s not the answer. Period. Because I want to come back at some point.

We came here to eat dinner before heading over to the casinos across the state border. We had a large group of us, so we had to wait maybe five minutes for them to clean up and set up the table in the middle of the restaurant to accommodate us. Our server came to take our drink orders. A bunch of the group ordered I think it was called the Strawberry Mule, which I believe was a strawberry flavored Moscow Mule, which sounded really good. I ordered a beer, the Moose Drool brown ale, which the server recommended — one of the beers on the rotating tap. After I had ordered it, I noticed that there was a cocktail made with St. Germaine and wished I had gotten that instead. But the beer was fine and had a fun name. For food, we all ordered a variety of things, including salad and sliders. I ordered the fire-roasted cauliflower and jalapeño & bacon mac n cheese and the Tower 16 tuna poke(all on the appetizer section of the menu). The cauliflower was amazing — it was roasted perfectly and drizzled in oil. The mac n cheese was yummy too, with slices of jalapeño and small pieces of bacon. I think the cheese was more of a white cheddary cheese. So… my tuna poke never came. I guess they forgot about it, which is sort of a bad thing. But it worked out in my favor because the cauliflower and the mac n cheese and the beer really filled me up. Overall, I liked the food — and there were other things on the menu that I was interested in ordering, which is a good sign, like the short rib and the shrimp n grits. The service was good too, except for the one slip-up on forgetting on of the things I ordered(but again, not a big deal since I was full off the two other things I ordered). And the server was able to do separate checks for us, which was great. This place is located at Heavenly Village, so I would definitely come back if I come to snowboard at Heavenly next winter(because the drought will end and there will be good snow!).

Gunbarrel Tavern rates closer to a 3.5, there is so much room for improvement, but the concept is great. We didn’t order much because the menu items were definitely on the pricey side. We paid almost $ 60 for 3 items — this isn’t somewhere you’re going to get your bang for your buck. I was in the mood for a really great bourbon cocktail, so I opted for the ‘Machine Gun’ Manhattan($ 14) made with vanilla & clove infused Woodford reserve, antica carpana sweet vermouth, bitters, & a luxardo cherry, which was decent but far from the best Manhattan I’ve ever had. Despite being billed to have infused flavors, those weren’t really at all prominent in the cocktail whatsoever. We weren’t starving after a huge brunch so we opted out of appetizers and went straight for the entrees. I was stuck between ordering the Shrimp & Grits or the Ahi Tuna salad, but per the servers recommendation about how special the entrees are, I went with the Shrimp & Grits($ 21). The flavors on my dish were really amazing, it had a spicy corn salsa kind of deal and the grits were cheesy and creamy except for a few bites of grits that were crunchy. It came with a pile of well cooked shrimp too which was also great. My guy ordered himself the Bison burger($ 13), which he asked to have cooked to the chefs recommendation(pink), and it unfortunately came out closer to the medium-well, well done range which ruined a potentially great burger. All in all, if they cleaned up their consistency game a little bit I think it’d be worth another try.
