Alternative Legal Solutions

I am an attorney in Southern California. I responded to an ad for «attorney services» in El Dorado County, in order to obtain criminal records for an individual who is a witness in a pending case. I was responding to a pleading and made clear that the request was urgent. This was, as of this posting over a week and a half ago. I have tried calling, expressing the need to obtain records ASAP, and the last I heard was «we’ll keep you posted.» The only information I’ve received from this company is a vague description of where the documents are located and what the process is to get them, but I have nothing on my end to indicate any work has been done at all to recover the documents. I see that this company does «family law» services, which may be part of the problem, if they are dealing with something they are unfamiliar with. But, one would think that handling family law and divorce matters in El Dorado County would leave them familiar with the processes for obtaining such documents, as well as the urgency of the request in some circumstances. Definite fail.
