Meticulous attention to details and a no rush approach have me driving from downtown Salt Lake to the Daybreak community at least twice a month. Men’s haircuts cost $ 23 ($ 30 after tip) and include wash, cut, wash, and an optional hot towel treatment.

Pros: Good location for Daybreak residents, stylish and clean salon, friendly and knowledgeable staff, good communication from stylist, easy to schedule a same-​day appointment, accepts credit cards.
Cons: When I was taken back to the sinks to have my hair washed, I jus thad to lay my neck down on the porcelain sink, which became painful after a while and the next morning I noticed the back of my neck is slightly bruised. Not a big deal, but a towel under my neck would have made it comfortable.
The Experience: I called to schedule an appointment on a Monday and was offered a same-​day appointment, which I accepted. I was scheduled with Ashley, who greeted me at the front desk, informed me that I would be having my appointment with her, and took me back to start immediately. Ashley was pleasant and friendly and knowledgable. I was able to tell her what I wanted from my cut and she was great at communicating her vision to me (as a layman). She did not rush or pressure me at all, and was conservative with her trimming, which I appreciated (I have long hair and asked for the length to be kept, but needed a trim to get rid of the split ends) and said she’d be happy to go back and shorten the length if I needed her to once she had finished. She cut my hair from my natural part, which I also really appreciated as I have been to lots of salons where they will part my hair down the middle and cut it that way, even though I wear it parted to the side (this results in a very uneven look once styled at home). She gave me styling and blowdrying tips as she went along, which were helpful, and she had me explain my at-​home routine with tools and products so that she could offer suggestions, and that was great too.
I’ll definitely be returning to 9 salon for my next touch up, and would highly recommend them to friends and family.
