We ordered two grilled chicken subs, one with extra mayonnaise. What we received was paper thin slices of grilled chicken made cold by a mountain of shredded lettuce, off-tasting cheese, and a generic bun. The thing was virtually completely cold even right out of the bag. The cheap, cheap paper they use to wrap the sandwich is so thin and well, cheap that the few drops of water from the lettuce caused the sandwich to tear through the paper on the very first bite. Made a small mess in my lap as I tried to contain the falling lettuce shreds. I ended up throwing half of the sandwich out because it was pretty gross tasting and sandwich bits kept falling through the shredded paper wrapper. Oh, the service really stinks too. The girl at the drive through couldn’t have cared less about what she was doing. As I mentioned, one of these sandwiches was ordered with extra mayo. when she handed the bag over, I asked«which one has the extra mayo?» She looked puzzled and said«yeah.» I repeated the question and she told me «Oh, they both do.» They did not both have extra mayo, in fact each of us got the wrong one since they didn’t label them and she told us both had extra. I will never return to this awful place for any reason. I suggest that you drive on as well. Nothing to see here folks!

We stopped here passing through on our way out of state. The 4 star reviews are misleading. The place is average at best. We had the roast beef and corned beef sub combos with soup. For the $ 17 we paid, I was expecting more than grocery-store type lunch meat on the sandwich. My corned beef just looked like cheap oscar Meyer processed ham from a package. Very disappointed. The food is OK. The soups were just average too. Skip this one. It’s not cheap or remarkable. The staff was very nice, though.

love how the tuna is prepared here, probably have eaten it over a dozen times. It’s my favorite sub in the area. But the last time I picked up some subs, seemed like they were using old bread. Crumbled apart in my hand.

There subs are great plenty of meat and toppings. I love their homemade soups they have different ones depending on the day. Service is always good you usually have to wait a few mins. My biggest problem is if you eat in the dining room is always hot in the summer 82 today and cold in the winter. Too uncomfortable to eat in. For that reason I’ll be staying away during hot or cold weather.

Excellent, high quality sandwiches at a great price. Soups are homemade from scratch, the cream of chicken rice is superb. Decadent sides such as garlic fries or beer battered onion rings. Many different and freshly chopped salads. And service with a smile. Great place for a quick bite, and these guys cater too!

Good sub, fresh bread, higher quality meat than subway or mr. Sub. Service was a little slow, but not too bad.

Customer service is bad! Most of the time they mess up your order but today was the worst experience I ever had at any restaurant! They basically charged me 88.53 dollars for one chicken sandwich leaving me with 2 dollars in my account! What dumb workers!!! It might take one week before the refund goes through my account and I might get overdraft fees! The manager gave me a measly five dollar coupon for the inconvenience! Not even enough to cover another lunch! I’m never going back!!!

Horrible service! I received the wrong order… in which my order was more expensive than what I received. When I called I spoke with the manager who was extremely rude, and wouldn’t replace the sandwich. He first offered 20% off, then 50%!!! He treated me like I was trying to get a free sandwich. I live 20 minutes away, and wasn’t about to go back out in 1 degree weather! Being a customer service manager, I know that he was not caring about solving the problem. The way he was responding to the situation was extremely offensive. I’m a female, and I bet if I was a male, he wouldn’t of treated me like that. He hung up on me… not once, but twice… I will never go back.

Great soup and subs, one of the best places to eat on the south side. Home made soups daily.

Found this place when I was pregnant with my daughter eight years ago. I craved pastrami and couldn’t get enough. This place continues to serve a quality sandwich but be prepared to pay for it. Not inexpensive for a sandwich shop.

Loved this place the first couple of times, but I wont be back. Ordered a hot sandwich, which they gave me cold. When I pointed it out, they microwaved the whole sandwich! Mmm, hot tomatoes! Hot Mayo! Hot onions! They put my soup on the bottom of the bag and wither had spilled some over the sides or didn’t put the lid on properly because when I got home and grabbed the bag, everything ended up on the ground! Jimmy Johns would suit you better than this place. Or better yet grab a Philly from Big Bubba’s down the street.

Wow the food here is awesome this is the one no fast food subway place here that’s for sure. Every time I come it’s better than the last. I love the foot-long turkey extra mayo.

Absolutely my favorite place to get soup and sandwiches in the south suburbs. Family owned and operated, The Submarine Port is miles ahead of any of the major chains like Subway and Jimmy Johns, while also being much cheaper. For two people to get sandwiches, cups of soup, and fountain drinks, it comes in at around $ 15. Doesn’t get much better than that. For those concerned with their waistline, The Submarine Port uses the leanest meats for all of their sandwiches. I have had the turkey, ham, and tuna sandwiches, and loved every one of them. To make things better, their chicken and rice soup is unparalleled, and is homemade, as are all of their soups. Their sandwiches are available warmed up or cold, and are brilliant no matter how you have them. I have never had a negative customer service experience at The Submarine Port, which is why I keep coming back. They also happen to be the only sandwich joint I know of with a drive thru, so if it’s one of those days where you can’t be bothered to get out of your car, you can still have delicious soup and sandwiches for cheap, with your butt firmly planted in your car. I really can’t recommend this place strongly enough.

This is a diamond in the ruff. I used to pass this place millions of times and all it took was me stopping by once. This place is good. It’s even open real late for those night owls

Today I found a fly in my salad, when I called and spoke with Daisy the manager. She told me that she could only replace my salad or give me 20% off my next purchase. So all u can do is give me more food that might have flies in it?

I hate subs. I have no idea why I would go to a sub shop for lunch. I think I was feeling nostalgic. My first job was down the street from this place and I used to eat here at least 3 times a week. I happened to be in the area yesterday and decided to stop for lunch. I ordered the small port(ham, salami, and something else) I can’t remember exactly. It comes on fresh soft bread topped with lettuce, onion, tomato, cheese and Italian dressing. I have to say it was delicious. I remember them always having homemade soups so I went with the beef Rosa marina. The soup was good. The beef seemed a little burnt though. They have a drive-thru and everything is made really fast. It was cheap too. The sandwich and soup was under $ 6. This will remain my lunch spot when I’m in the South Holland area.

Worthy of my last meal on earth… I grew up on the south side of Chicago and we had a Submarine Port on 51st and California, which is still there and I remember how great the sandwiches were then and«yes»…they are still great. I live in NWI so from time to time… I drive to South Holland just to pick up sandwiches from this place and it is well worth the drive. They have several to choose from but my favorite is the corned beef, I’ve been eating this sandwich for years and no other place compares to the corned beef sandwich at this place… no joke Unilocalers… no joke! Prices are fair, plenty of sandwich(meat) options, soup rocks too… and they are very fast in making the sandwiches… if you are near this place… do yourself a favor and stop by. Lastly, I make it a five star not only for the food but also for the service. I’ve never had any problems with the service or food… it’s always been prompt, kind, and to the point. I ordered 9 sandwiches today… all different and unique in condiments and they made it happen as they always do.

I’ve been eating the same sandwich here for the last 10 years. That’s not to say I havent tried everything else as well. Their subs are always top notch and their soups are effing amazing. Cheese fries are great and the icecream! All around good food and the staff is always very polite. Even cute too! This Subport by far outbeats the one in Midlothian.

This place is probably my favorite find so far in South Holland. Being put on a project way out south isn’t always awful, especially when you find a good little sandwich shop. I went with the turkey combo and it was mighty tasty. The combo was under $ 6 and it came with a sandwich, soup, and a drink. The sandwich itself was good, but not miraculous. The bread was soft with fresh ingredients. I think a little more crunch to the bread might have worked. The soup was out of this world! It comes in a little drinking cup, but you could tell that it was homemade. There were large chunks of chicken in every spoonful. I really liked this place and I’m sure I’ll be back to try the corned beef.
