Joanna is a wonderful and represents the Village Squire brand exceptionally well. Thanks Joanna! We will continue to be VS customers due to Joanna and the great karaōke on Fridays! Thank you! Update: another great evening at Squire tonight. Recommendation — consider different musician for Saturdays. Sharon is available!

This place is a great time for my family. We always order the saganaki, which is awesome! The staff is always super friendly and helpful. Keep up the great service and food.

Just ok. Arrived after a funeral with a large party. The room was reserved in advance. They only had one or two people waiting on everyone. It took 20 minutes before I could even get a cup of coffee and some water. It was extremely cold out that particular day. I would give the service 2 stars. They definitely were understaffed. The food was ok, which is what 3 stars represents. The entrée choices were chicken, filet, and salmon. The filet skewers were cooked med rare as we asked but I’m not sure what the dipping sauce was. It tasted like sour cream and we had no potatoes so your guess is as good as mine. My sons chicken was dry and the sauce was meh. The lentil soup was amazing. Definitely tasted homemade like the way I used to make it. I could live on soup so I can say that I would go back for the lentil soup. Other than the soup, I would not go out of my way to go to The Squire when there are so many other choices in that area.

Food is pretty good and I love their bar area. They’ve got some nice beers on tap and the atmosphere is great. It’s family owned and you can tell by the service.

Food was pretty good. But service tonight was terrible. We were at the restaurant almost 2 hours for dinner. Could not et a refill on water. Serve never came back to see if we needed anything after delivering food. Had a hard time getting check and processing that.

The food was great, but the service was better. Thanks to Rebecca for being knowledgeable about the menu and so very pleasant.

I enjoyed this place, we stopped here after doing a little shopping. It was PACKED when we got there and the type of people that Sean to go here is of a much older crowd for sure. But food was decent, I got the French dip and fries and everything was tasting very good. My mother in law got some sort of chicken wrap she didn’t really like it though she said it was bland but I bet if she got anything else she would of liked it, I just think their wraps are not exactly their main focus or selling point. Big menu lots to choose from. It was realllllllllllly loud when we went. They have specials and different soups everyday. It was a good place. I most likely won’t come back though, I’m not really in the area. But if ur just passing through it beats a lot of its«competitors» waitress was nice too.

The food was mediocre. The wait staff was less than friendly. The thing that really ruined their rating was they would not accept our discount coupon which expires on October 11, 2011! I have made it a point NEVER to go back to that restaurant! Also, I will never go back to Rookies our Alexanders either because they our owned by the same family. Also, I will tell all my friends that they were disrespectful to us. The ownership made the wrong choice when they disrespected our request !!! The $ 5 coupon they denied us is going to cost them $ 1000’s!

This review is based upon pizza only, had carry out. Was given a 45 min wait time when ordering 4pm afternoon, unusual but ok I guess, when I got there I had to wait an additional 20 minutes for 2 pizza to come out. Got the pizzas and brought them back home and I must say that they are definitely not worth the price. They were ok tasting but the crust was just horrible, toppings were about right. Giving 2 stars for the fact that they got topping amount correct but there are much better pizzas in the area

Suburbanites deserve better. Full ribs w/coleslaw and mashed potatoes($ 17.99) — 2 stars. Perplexingly small amount of coleslaw. Chicago style and neptune mushrooms($ 7.50 for ten) — 3 stars Calamari($ 9.49) — 1 star. So bland. Shrimp alfredo($ 14.99) — 0 stars. Worst alfredo I’ve EVER had. Watery, didn’t taste of cheese or even cream, more like watered down half & half. 5 pieces of small shrimp. Onion soup($ 0.75 upgrade) — 2 stars Small Greek salad($ 2.75 upgrade with meal) — 2 stars Chicken walnut salad($ 9.99) — 1 star. Pathetic chicken.

Wow what a disappointment. everything was bad from soup burnt to appetizer to the meals. I don’t know how you can fuck up saganaki but they managed to. Disgrace left ashamed I ate there.

We went there last minute on a friday PRIMETIME. We had our 18mo old with us who is NOT patient by his very nature and they got us in right away! Prince was our waiter and did a GREATJOB! We never were irked by waiting for food or drinks… They kept the popcorn flowing(thank god as the kiddo was inhaling it!!!). The food was VERYGOOD. I mean it is not a 5 star fancy pants overpriced go only one a year type place so you need to have your expectations in check but it was FAST, SUPERGOOD and we all left very happy! I recommend their new sangria… YUM!

Do yourself a favor and just order a burger. They do a good job on those. Everything else is a 50⁄50 chance taste wise. They must be getting use 2 the Food complaints because they don’t even offer 2 get u something edible. But I do have 2 say. i had a bowl of Manhattan Clam Chowder that was the best I ever had

This review is for the Village Squire in South Elgin. They have great food and nice servers. Two of my favorite waitresses are Mickey and Denise. They are both incredible ladies with great, friendly personalities and always go «above and beyond» when waiting on you. The rib special on Thursdays is really great. You get a full slab of barbecue ribs, choice of potato, whole ear of fresh corn on the cob, soup or salad for $ 14.99. Ribs are consistently tender and flavorful. They also have stuffed mushroom caps on special on Thursdays and they are great. They have different specials every day and are really good. Great burgers, too. The Village Squire in Crystal Lake is no comparison to the one in South Elgin. We went there for the Thursday rib special and when were received our dinner there was no corn on the cob. When the bill came it was $ 18.99 each instead of $ 14.99 each. Quite a surprise to pay $ 8.00 more for 2 dinners with no corn on the cob, big special! We figured since it was family owned restaurant the prices would be the same. Totally different atmosphere than the great location in South Elgin. I would not recommend the Village Squire in Crystal Lake, as I will not be going back there but the one in South Elgin is top notch, the best!

Free Popcorn All day, Err day! Try their Moscow Mule, best one I’ve tried so far compared to the other restaurants or bars I’ve been to. My husband and I love coming out here, they have live acoustic music most nights, great food, great deals and great service.

We go here every once In a while. Food is good all around. Not sure why they put popcorn on the table. It seems sort of odd. Id rather bread or chips or some thing. Service was reasonable as are the prices. A good old cheeseburger was pretty good. This place always seems to have a decent crowd but we never have a wait. I’d recommend it just based on the consistency of the food quality and service.

This place is so kitschy! WHICH I LOVE! I’m a fan of anything themed. This place has a medieval feel to it. They offer complimentary bowl(s) of popcorn. The first time they asked if we would like a bowl, the second time we didn’t receive a bowl nor did we ask for one(no biggie). So I’m not quite sure if you need to request one??? But anyways… Try the Cajun Burger. So so good. This is probably the only time in my life that I didn’t smother my burger in ketchup. The seasoning and pepper jack cheese added enough flavor that I didn’t add any condiments. Major plus, it didn’t taste the least bit dry. Decent steak fries. Fries are my secret obsession. Personally, I prefer thinner crispy fries, but I will eat just about any kind. The baked French onion soup is another must-try. Went there on a Saturday night and they had a guy playing guitar and singing. Wasn’t half bad, either! Definitely a cool place to grab dinner.

I love this place! Good food, good prices(depending on the day), and great service. Our favorite waitress is Mickie. She’s a sweetheart and very good at her job. The stuffed mushrooms were great, both the cream cheese garlic and the crab. I had the veggie burger which was also very good and the cream of chicken and rice noodle soup. Also, very good. Their desserts are to die for as well. I recommend the turtle ice cream cake slice. Very good! Thank you to Village Squire for serving a great lunch.
