Joseph’s has great pan pizza, subs, dinners, and awesome desserts, I get all my birthday cakes here, great custom cakes a fraction of the cost of other big name cake shops !

Quality of food has gone down, had the chicken broccoli and ziti and it tasted like watered down pasta. Ending up tossing down the drain.

This used to be a great spot for the blue collar guys to grab lunch to go. But I think the new Southie got to them. Stopped in and ordered the pot roast dinner and was floored when the girl said $ 12.83! Whaa? I could go into the North End and have a sit down dinner for that kind of dough. Metro on Congress Street same meal $ 9. Ciao Joseph’s!

I have lived in Southie for just over a year. I’ve been in Joseph’s two other times. But last week I ordered a birthday cake for my wife which I picked up on Sunday At noon. The cake was ready when I arrived and was baked perfectly. My wife and all are guests kept remarking on the quality and flavor of the cake. Bravo to Joseph’s!

Love it! Great small town feel in the city. Extremely accommodating to my picky needs.

Normally, Joseph’s would be 5-star in my book. Unfortunately, they have broken my heart and changed their mac and cheese recipe. It used to be a delicious white mixture of american and provolone. They have now switched to orange cheese and it is DISGUSTING. If you’re going to do cheddar, do it right. I’ve been eating their original mac and cheese for 20 years and they ripped the rug right out from under my feet. Fridays will never be the same.

**Bakery side: I have never understood this spot. It smells great and everything looks Delish but all the goodies are gross and taste the same. I know it is a local spot that is very popular but I firmly believe it relies on locals. It’s a gigantic lets down EVERYTIME. **Food side: very good food, inconsistent. When it’s on point it is Delish, prices are not cheap.

Very good, fresh filled cannoli. The tiramisu has less espresso taste than most, fyi, and the texture is perfectly smooth. Good macarons. Flavored iced coffees are good, though the idea of light ice seems lost on them. I also tried a raspberry turnover, too sweet and pasty for me. They should try a good jam or something. Frosting on the strawberry shortcake is not that good. I didn’t even finish it. Service is ok, other than the lack of prices. This bugs me. If you sell stuff, you label it with prices. When you sell the same stuff every day, how hard is that. Always seems a little scammy to be when places don’t want you to know the cost of things because they know you may not want to be that person holding up a line asking all the prices, meh.

This place is good if your a local, but there is no reason to seek it out. There are equal or better bakeries in every city. One of the biggest highlights is that is it more than just a bakery. In addition to the normal breads & pastries, you can also get subs, deli, and dinner specials(pasta, calzone, shepherds pie, etc…) My wife got one of the specialty sandwiches which was delicious. I got the chicken parm which was good, but a little on the soggy side. The tiramisu was pretty good but was just thrown in a bag. Which I didn’t understand. That’s basically like throwing a piece of lasagna or cake in a bag. Like I said, if you’re a Southie resident, it’s worth it. If not, it’s not. It is what it is…

This little Italian eatery does not fail. The place is broken into 2 sections: the bakery and the deli. Deli: If you’re in the mood for a sub, try the Italian. Bakery:The calzones are also great and are highly recommended. I also love the tiramisu and Italian cookies.

Good if you’re local, but I would not go out of my way to come here. Baked goods are decent, staff is friendly and helpful, also they have hot meals, sandwiches, etc. Recently I picked up some bread and dinner rolls. They were good, cheap, and fresh, but nothing fancy. Very basic and plain. I did buy a cannoli that was just okay. It was tiny and not worth the $ 2.50 I spent on it. Try the pies. They’re good.

I think they train the staff not to smile here. Credit card machine is always«broken» but they have most technically advanced ATM. Can’t really mix and match with the hot foods, they should charge a price per pound and allow you to mix and match.

Lost a customer! Went yesterday to get cold cuts and bread. When I got home and made a sandwich, the bread was stale, dry as bone. I watched the girl take the loaf off the rack, put it through the slicer and then bag it, she couldn’t tell it was stale? This is a «bakery». If they can’t at least sell fresh bread, it calls everything they do into question. I know this seems harsh but its far from the first time Joseph’s has been a disappointment. I will no longer give them my business.

A good scone is hard to find. Having first eaten REAL, fresh, homemade scones in Scotland, I can attest that the rocks that Starbucks sells are no the real thing. I chanced it Joseph’s one sunny Sunday morning, after my fiancé and I realized the wait at L Street Diner would be too long. Raisin scone, thin mint coffee(heaven in a cup), and the fiancé got a spinach and cheese calzone, which is generous with the cheese AND the spinach AND the portion size. The scone was just moist enough and left that mouth coating buttery sensation in my mouth when I finished. The calzone was too big for fiancé to finish in one sitting. We went back Thanksgiving morning for pie, and decided on pecan. I never thought I liked plain pecan pie. Then I tried Josephs’. Oh. My. Goodness. And the dinner rolls? Who waxes poetic about dinner rolls? Apparently, I do. I am so glad we found this little gem.

Stopped in for the first time yesterday, when wandering at lunch time from work. I only walked in because they had a «Visa» sign on their window. Only after ordering my sandwich and drink did they refuse my credit card, and tell me that they were«cash only, honey», only the bakery accepts cards. I guess there are two separate financial entities under one roof? I had to walk a couple blocks to an ATM and back again to get my food. Pros: –sandwich was a very good value, big for the cost –selection of lunch foods was decent. Cons: –don’t «really» take credit cards –I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. They asked me if I wanted blue cheese — I said yes, but instead of putting the blue cheese on it, they gave me a packet of Ken’s dressing. Seemed a little strange that I had to continue to assemble my sandwich when i got back to the office(see below) –zero seating. you figure in a place that has the room for it, a couple small bistro tables, or even a simple counter with seating would make sense. no nearby neighborhood seating/park, so it was a take-it-back-to-the-office lunch for me.

I stopped in after taking the dog to Castle Island, I didn’t know it was there, just happen to drive by this little gem. I didn’t have a canolli, but the cakes were delish and rivals Mike’s and Modern Pastry.

ehhh… I got some treats for the household. Josephs had a nice big selection to suit all tastes, but I wasn’t super impressed with it once I got home to sample the goods. The Italian pastries were better than the cakes and such. Id come back here strictly for canolis, lobster tails, ricotta pies etc.

Oh Man. I walked in and was in heaven. Every baked good you could want. Donuts, cookies, cakes, pies, cupcakes, bread pudding, egg custard, canolis and lobster tails. That’s about 25% of the bakery selection. Pizza? Calzone? Arancini? Yes please! Moving on to the deli, and take out. I just stood and stared. So much to choose from! I chit chatted with one of the workers… and everyone seemed very friendly. I will be back!
