They are open 24⁄7 but I went today at 3pm for national donut day they were completely out of donuts. Not a single donut. If you know it’s national donut day… be prepared.

I have come here a couple of times, and they have never failed to impress me. Although the donuts are on the pricier side($ 1.30), they are fairly larger than other donuts(krispy kreme, dunkin’ donuts) and taste better too. The maple frosting donut is always a solid choice. I have also eaten the breakfast sandwiches here as well. You basically select what you want on the sandwich from a vast variety of selections. Basically, you cant go wrong with it since you build the sandwich from scratch. If it tastes bad, that’s your mistake. I have gotten two different breakfast sandwiches at different times, and they were both very good. The reason for the 5 stars, however, is that this place is open TWENTY-FOURHOURS. When looking around for places to eat in South End, this is my go to place for those late night cravings. Although the staff could be a bit friendlier, who am I to say since they’re working those late night/early morning shifts. tl;dr: OPEN24HOURS. Great donuts($ 1.30/each) and great breakfast sandwiches(served all day long)

I took a short detour to this donut shop that I had found surrendipitously on Unilocal.By the time we got there(at about 4pm), only the plain donut($ 1.30 apiece) was available. Presumably, more would have come out, but I did not manage to get the fresh uones. The plain donut was a little dense(probably cos it had been sitting there for a while) but still tasted pretty good. It had a hint of spice that gave it an interesting taste.

Came back here again for a plain donut hole and a chocolate cruller… they were both so good that I needed to go back in for another donut after– this time getting a chocolate glazed. The cruller was a cake donut and both the chocolate glazed and donut hole were yeast donuts. The yeast donuts are super fluffy, great texture. The cake donuts, though naturally heavier, are full of flavor and also amazingly moist. Honestly this has got to be the best donut place in Boston

If heaven is a donutty place on earth, doughboy is the place. Open 24⁄7 with fresh donuts coming out at all hours of the day. Strong opinion that anyone who ate a donut here and didn’t review 5 stars knows nothing about donuts. Best donuts in Boston, bar none. Best donuts for your buck too. I was worried that this place is well-known for cheap and pretty good donuts, but these donuts are AMAZEBALLS *AND* CHEAP. Regular donut = $ 1.30, a singular donut hole =$ 0.45. Doughboy makes it seem like all the other artisan donut places are committing a federal crime for charging $ 3+ per donut(major side eye @union square donuts, @blackbird donuts, @kane’s donuts). Raised/traditional/yeast donuts are fluffier than clouds and the denser cake donuts are executed to perfection as well. Had the cinnamon raisin and chocolate cruellers, blueberry cake donut, glazed donut hole, raised chocolate glaze — all mind-blowingly incredible with each bite. Staff is very friendly and patient, even if you’re super indecisive. They have a drive through(!!) and a small parking lot. A few tables and seating(for ~6ish people total) inside

Wow, When I was a little girl my parents both use to take me here when they were on they’re break back in the days, I gotta tell you this iconic location means alot to my parents and they old crew back on the MBTA days, They had the best turkey sandwich and hot cup of Joe in South Boston I haven’t been there in a while because everyone retired or died out it’s too sad to go back.

Great coffee and good deli to grab some lunch. The staff is very friendly. Keno to keep busy while you enjoy your coffee and the donuts are really good as well.

Wow, I wish I had stopped in years ago. Passed this place many times. Friend told me that they had good Donuts. I had an Iced Cofee and got a Boston Crème. The Boston Crème was so fresh, light and the center was filled with a nice not overly sweet pudding like Crème. The Donut was so good that I went back and bought a second one. This was the best Boston Cream that I have ever had. I will definitely be going back to try more in the future on my cheat day. Much better than the trendy Blackbird donut shop in my neighborhood and for fraction of the cost. Blackbird charges 3 bucks a donut, 1.30 a donut at Doughboy and so much better. Oh and the staff were super friendly and nice. Much better than week old donuts at Dunkin! They also have a sub shop attached to it so will have to check that out sometime as well.

Their donuts are amazing, period. I live in NC now and still dream about their Boston Cremes. Their drive thru is also awesome and added bonus that they take card!

Dear Doughboy, Can you please open more locations? Perhaps closer to Waltham? I love Dunkies, but I drove past 90 of them to get to you. I ordered the Boston Crème and Lemon Glazed Jelly(which is a dying breed in doughnut shops) but you had the Lemon. The Lemon was glazed and jellied flawlessly. It was a flawless Lemon Jelly doughnut. Thank you. And the Boston Crème, fluffy, decadent and that soft velvety golden Crème. Again, thank you. Most impressively, the iced coffee! Winner winner chicken dinner! I would happily drive past the 90 Dunkies everyday for that iced coffee. However, will you please PLEASE open more? Yours truly, Doughboy Lover

I love the vibes of this place. I wish there were a closer location to where I live. I also wish they did delivery! The staff is really nice, the set-up is really chill and unpretentious. The best way I can describe is, it feels like the way Good Will Hunting looks like. Very East Coast. Very Boston. I recommend the steak bomb sandwich. I split this with my friend and was satisfied. Granted — I am a small person with a small stomach for big flavors. The cheese pizza is also very good. The crust is a wonderful thing. I split a small cheese pizza with my friend, and that, too, was filling. The first time I was here, I wanted to get some donuts afterwards but they were nearly sold out! They only had a few jelly donuts left, and it was only 1pm! This place must have crackin’ donuts, and I definitely will be back for them. Great prices, too, for quality eats. Now, this is one of my favorite places in Boston.

The Sandwich was good, the service was ok, but that ceiling is nasty, exposed wires, beams, spider webs, missing ceiling tiles, tables were dirty, they have tables to eat in, no bathrooms to wash hands and pretty cold in there #boston #mayorwalsh #doughboys #inspectionservices #really?

Ask for Lily — she’s the best. Excellent service. Donuts taste like real donuts. Drive-In is very convenient. Have they franchised? Could content with DD as a nice alternative. Way better than Honey Dew. Real potential here with really only 2 options in the market. Would b nice to see them at Gillette or Fenway or the garden. Seeing great pr in the Boston movies. Something special here.

Doughboy’s is across the street from the MBTA service center and just a few blocks outside the heart of downtown. You can’t miss the glowing Orange and White sign coming off Dorchester Avenue. When I was living in Dorchester, this was by far one of my favorite stops on the way to or from work in the financial district. Anytime of the day you can get fresh, traditionally fried, donuts in a unique variety of styles. Probably some of the best donuts I have ever had come from this shop. The Chocolate Coconut…**homer droll** If donuts aren’t your thing, they also have a wonderful assortment of fresh baked Muffins, Danishes, Cookies, and Cake like treats to fill your sweet tooth. If you are feeling hungry for something more savory, they got you covered with a Deli full of flat iron breakfast sandwiches, grinders, sandwiches and pizza that is pretty solid as well. Did I also mention they are 24 hours and offer an great selection of Lotto sales? If there is one thing this place is really swell for, is the void it fills for great overnight/late night pit stops that all others parts of Boston are sorely lacking. Make it a late night mission to go and grab something from here, your money will be well spent.

Awesome donuts. Go for the apple fritter, honey bun, and coffee roll. They are out of this world. The donut selection is aplenty. If you cant make up your mind, get a dozen mixed. You won’t regret it. Doughboy is an establishment that focus solely on making old fashioned yeast raised donut at its best. Forget the $ 2 overpriced donut from certain square in Boston. Head over to Doughboy and get transported to donut heaven.

As I drove by, the Doughboy Donuts sign caught my eye and I found myself drifting off the main street and into one of the slots marked for parking out front. The deli and the donut shop each have their own separate entrances, yet come together in the middle. The donut shop had a Where’s Waldo feature, except it is the Pillsbury Doughboy that you’ll find yourself spotting, propped up here or there. The layout of the store however reminded me much of your neighborhood Dunkin Donut. In this era of giant donuts priced around $ 3, it was a pleasure to find a donut option that wasn’t a chain and didn’t hit the wallet as hard. I picked up a Boston Cream Donut to go for $ 1.10, and ended up sharing it with a friend. She agreed, it was much better than DD’s with its soft and tender donut encasing a none-too-sweet creamy custard, topped with a pleasant chocolate frosting.

not sure if i agree with all the hype. The donuts are good but nothing special here. The selection is pretty small and flavors were typical. It was $ 14/dozen which is pretty pricey for basic donuts if you ask me.

I never was a fan of donuts with fillings… the sweetness is usually too overwhelming and requires excessive milk intake to restore balance to my palate. However, everything changed when I met my first Doughboy donut: the Boston Crème donut. I began by deconstructing it, trying the chocolate frosting first, then the fluffy donut body, and finally the crème. This initial taste didn’t piqué the interest of my taste buds until I had a taste of the crème. Other donut crème fillings I’ve had were dense and dripped like a very viscous paint. The crème in this donut, however, was so light that it almost seemed to defy gravity. Holding true to its form, its taste was also very light and pleasant but only very faintly sweetened. That was the moment that I realized the donut HAD to be eaten as a whole because each component alone could never complete what all three accomplished together: the chocolate frosting provided sugary donut essence while the donut bread provided a fluffy scaffolding for that essence and a cozy home for the best crème EVER, resulting in Boston Crème Donut PERFECTION. The mark of skill in one’s craft is the ability to not only change how people feel about a particular product, but also taking that one step further to compel people to come to you and you alone for an item that could easily be found elsewhere. At Doughboy’s this happened to me with both the Boston Crème and the jelly donut. I’m still in shock that I’ve come to like donuts with filling… mind. blown.

If you want to getup it’s that are slightly better than Dunkin’, come here. 24⁄7 but the selection sucks. I’d love to purchase a dozen or half of some donuts but I wish this place made donuts more often. Service is okay but if management cranked out more donuts with better selection compared to a few flavors that are hard to sell then I would come more often!

When you think of donuts in South Boston, Doughboy is the cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast. Wait. What? Did I just say that? Yeah. I did. What are you gonna do about it punk? This is Southie. And this ain’t no freakin Staaahbucks pal. These donuts are big AND fresh. And their coffee? So many delicious flavors I can’t even remember them all. They make real egg and cheese sammies too. Not like the Dunky Doe crap. They also have a deli serving hot pizza, sandwiches, salads, soups, roast turkey and pot roast dinners and MORE! This place truly rocks!
