Decent tex-​mex. Good selection of items you don’t really find anywhere else, as well as the standards. If I were doing this review a few years ago when it first opened, would be giving 5 stars. Quality of food has deteriorated since then. Guac not as fresh. Meat not as tender. People behind the counter not as friendly. BIGGEST annoyance — they don’t take plastic still. Blows my mind. It’s 2016! There are lots of times I passed up eating here since I rarely carry cash.

My son and I went for lunch today. I got the Portobello mushroom specialty taco. it was surprisingly very buttery and fresh tasting. a very unique twist to ordinary tacos. I also ordered a «Dead Broke Burrito» for later, which was nothing to write home about. I wouldn’t order it again. My son ordered the fish taco, which he said was very spicy– too spicy for him, although he did finish it. He also had the specialty shrimp taco, which was hands down his favorite. We ate inside and got complimentary salsa and chips!
The folks who work there are really friendly. Kudos for serving /​feeding US soldiers for free! That is really awesome! Bathroom is clean and handicapped accessible.
Will I return? Yes.

It’s a nice, clean little taco place. Don’t get the chips and guacamole, it wasn’t fresh and it tasted like it was out of a can. Do get the duck taco, it’s delicious. The chicken quesadilla and burritos are also delicious. Overall, an average experience

Specialty tacos are delicious. My favorites are the pulled pork, the jerk chicken and the shrimp blt. Duck taco is also very good. If you’re lucky enough in the winter time you can snag a brisket taco from their specials menu. Other items on the menu I would consider good as well, but not on the same level as the the specialty tacos.

I used to frequent their truck on rt. 111. Now that it;s closed, I went for a mad search to find my beloved duck tacos. I FOUND IT! Drove the 60 miles to eat there again and it always holds up. Go and eat their tacos. They’re life changing.

Mesquite is exceptional! I have eaten in just once, but ordered out several times. Super fast, friendly, and enjoyable service. My husband and I have tried a number of their specialty tacos! I love the fish tacos, my husband has really liked the duck tacos and pulled pork tacos. We have also tried burritos. Everything is amazing, you won’t be disappointed. There isn’t a ton of seating in there, so consider take-​out, particularly if it is a «busy time.» Keep up the good work, Mesquite!

Just went to Mesquite for only the second time today. I also went back in the spring and have been dreaming of their quesadillas since. So I came straight from work and didn’t have any cash on me. I saw the sign at the register– cash only. The owner, Craig was the nicest– He let me order a whole bunch of food on credit. The food was very good. I ordered a veggie quesadilla, a veggie burrito and guacamole. The guac was delicious and creamy with little chunks of tomatoes– yum. Quesadilla was nice and spicy. I will definitely be back! (Later tonight to pay him!)

Nelson, Gueslyn. I was there the last visit about six months ago. The food was good with plenty of salsa and lettuce. The prices are reasonable and we were regulars. They even delivered because we were regulars and close. Go and be glad you did: ENJOY!

Incredible tacos! Lots and lots of flavor. Every single one is so fresh. The first time I came with friends and all tacos were amazing (I cannot recall what I ordered though). In my mind I was thinking: For tacos alone, it’s worth the trip. I visited the town again and I had shrimp scampi and fish tacos. The tacos were vividly fresh as I remembered. We sat on the counter and brought our own bottles. The manager, Chris, is super charming and friendly with great knowledge about food, drinks, and music. If you ever visited this town, please do not miss this hidden treasure.

I was visiting a friend and was introduced here for tacos! Every single taco I’ve had was delicious! esp the specialty tacos! mojito shrimp, grilled fish w mango and portabello were prepared to perfection and beyond delicious! The taco from reg menu such as beef and pork were equally good! Staffs were very friendly, chips were fresh and their homemade sauces got an awesome kick to it! Just go get some tacos!

Nice little taco place where you wouldn’t expect to find one.
The skirt steak taco and the fish taco (grouper) where fantastic. Well worth the ride if you want to check this place out.
Only thing missing with the meal is an ice cold beer…

We saw this place on Unilocal after going to the outlets in Riverside. We live in northern Nj. The outlets were not worth it but I would drive the 2 hours again just to go to this place. We ordered 5 specialty tacos between the 2 of us. Every single one was delicious, creative and balanced. An amazing find, it made our day.

Rode up to Sound Beach from Patchogue upon recommendation by a friend. We had a selection of specialty Tacos; portobello, fish, duck and pulled pork. The owner gave a chicken cutlet taco for our first time. Owner was exceptionally nice and welcoming. Couple of tables and not fancy BUT everything was DELICIOUS! I will be back for more specialty Tacos.

Wow! Excellent tacos, burritos and chimichanga. We had the blue cheese stuffed steak taco, goat cheese steak taco, and a special ginger pork taco. It was incredible. Prices are reasonable.

If you like duck, you «MUST» try the duck tacos! They are nothing short of magical and satisfying. Gourmet Tex-​Mex street food is the best way to describe the eats here. I have never, ever been disappointed with any of the food I’ve eaten here. Hence the reason I upgraded my review to 5 stars.
If this place were located in a busy, heavily trafficked area, you could expect a line wrapped around the building during all business hours. The fact that it’s off the beaten path and located in a one horse town adds to its charm, and certainly does not detract from it’s ability to provide some of the tastiest Tex-​Mex food on Long Island.
