I want to like this place more than I do because of its location, however: RATING: I can’t give 3 stars due to unwanted attention from one of their employees. Since I live close and walk by frequently, one of the employees(Arabic male, mid-20’s, short stature) is often outside on the bench making cat-calls. This is bad for business if it’s sending away other female customers, & I’m not comfortable going in there alone anymore. FOOD: I’ve tried the chicken parm sub, which was just your typical sub. They could do more with the bread, but it’s lackluster and bland. The pizza isn’t bad, but nothing special either.

This place used to be awesome and a go too place within my office but the past few orders have been horrible. After waiting about about an extra 25 – 30 minutes than when they said they would be here I got a BLT with some of the bacon cooked some not and ice cold french fry cubes I like to call them. I’m not expecting anything great out of a sub shop but I do expect my food to be cook and not ice cold by the time it gets to me(right down the street mind you)… I will never order from this dump again, they better hope I don’t get sick from whatever the hell I just bit into. So gross! How is this place even open?

My Steak Tip dinner should’ve been called«French Fry and cole Slaw» dinner… it was piled high with both but only 4 small steak tips. definitely not worth $ 10.95 +tax+delivery fee+tip. I’ll stick with the calzone!

After moving from good ol’ Boston, I craved a roast beef sandwhich for months. Once I returned to Boston, this place was on my MUSTDO list. I bypassed several roast beef options including those«famous» ones, to get the roast beef here. It was just as delicious as I remember. The Jr beef is a perfect size when eating a side of fries(get the steak fries!). I miss this place so much!!! Seriously, if the owner is reading this, there are ZERO roast beef shops in New Orleans. If you some how could open up a shop down here, you should. All of your food is delicious and theres nothing like it in NOLA!

I ordered the lobster roll after reading the review below. And just for fun, I added the fried cheesecake to my order. It took about an hour, but most places take longer than they say they will, so that’s okay. The lobster roll was tasty, but I wish they went a little lighter on the mayo. Still, they were very generous with the amount of lobster meat and the $ 12.95 price was well worth it. I loved the roll. It was soft and grilled with butter. Mmmmm… The fries, on the other hand, were bland as hell. I think I ate 3. The fried cheesecake was definitely overcooked as the nuggets very dark brown, bordering on burnt. The inside was warm and creamy, but nothing to write home about. After eating 3(approx. 1″ cubes), I’d had enough. The fried coating was too much for me. If you like junk food, you will looooove these. Overall, I would order the lobster roll again, but that’s it.

The food is okay. It’s cheap, but it tastes cheap too. The most frustrating thing about Jimbo’s is that the posted hours mean little. They close when they want to, often up to 45 minutes before their listed close time. It’s fine if you’re desperate, but Jimbo’s should not be anyone’s first choice.

The rating: Four and a half stars, if only they would realize that anything with«buffalo» in it’s name MUST come with bleu cheese, I would have to bump them to five star status. Why we chose to eat here: It was chance really. Ms. Sarah-pants wanted to try a new place for a buffalo finger calzone, having been let down by the last few, and foodler directed us here, yay foodler! The food: The aforementioned Buffalo Finger Calzone is easily a five star calzone. Filled to bursting with mozzarella cheese and chicken fingers that are just spicy enough to let you know it without blowing your palate out with heat, it goes perfectly with the supplied bleu cheese dressing(at least when they actually remember to supply it). And if you are really lucky they will give you some marinara as well, you know for those deliciously doughy end bits of the calzone. Not the best marinara in the world but quite far from the worst either. Jimbo’s has become a regular for us for the calzone alone, but the roast beef sandwiches are pretty fantastic as well, a traditional onion roll topped however you like and once again just bursting with a huge quantity of tender moist roast beef, portion sizes are never an issue. Not to mention the onion rings, thin, hand cut and battered O’s, that go hand in hand with you monster sandwich of beef; a match made in heaven. Hope you saved room for dessert because the fried cheesecake is the icing on the proverbial cake. I was a little skeptical at the idea since in my experience fried cheesecake is rarely as good as it sounds on paper even at a sit down restaurant, where it comes fresh from the fryer to your table, and this being delivered it would be at least an hour out of the oil before we actually ate it. Fortunately for me I was outvoted two to one and the only complaint I can levy is that we didn’t order two. This stuff was everything you want in a good piece of cheesecake, cut into little chunks and fried to a gbd(golden brown deliciousness). It showed no ill effects from sitting around for so long and was still just warm enough to have a very pleasing creamy mouth feel. Very yum indeed. The service: Generally very good. Orders can sometimes run past the time that you are quoted but the food always arrives hot. The big issue, consistency with the sauces. There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason as to what sauces come with what. The first few times we got the buffalo finger calzone they came with both marinara and bleu cheese, then all of a sudden, just marinara, and requesting bleu cheese didn’t necessarily mean you’d get it either, at least without turning the oven on warm and waiting for a second delivery of bleu cheese. Still other times, bleu cheese, no marinara, which, I admit is much less of a big deal, but still, there should be some consistency. Other than that, they are very professional and you can tell they want to please there customers. The final rundown: As mentioned, this place has earned a spot on my regular rotation, and for good reason. Sure mistakes are made, and things sometimes get forgotten, but at the end of the day you can’t argue with quality, and Jimbo’s has it.

This place is best for takeout or delivery since it’s a tiny place and not with the best décor, comes from actually dining here and not wanting to look at the floor. Nevertheless, my b and I went there for some roast beef and a cheeseburger. And my oh my, they were awesome. I got a super roast beef sandwich with lettuce, mayo, mushrooms, bacon, on an onion roll, toasted, and it was a beauty in my eyes. With a side order of onion rings it came out to about $ 11. Let’s just say it’s a lot cheaper than Kelly’s roast beef and you get to choose a plethora of toppings. I used the livingsocial takeout coupon so in reality I only paid $ 2 for the meal! Nom nom. The roast beef is tender, not overly chewy, piled high, and imo tasted good enough. Others might wish it had more kick to it though. My b got a cheeseburger which was nice a juicy for about 5 bucks. So all in all I think this is a good place to grab some grub. They even have seafood dinners which I might try one day. I love fried seafood, but not as much as a good olé roast beef sammich!(The onion roll and cheese really do give the sammich a kick. :D)

Love their steak tips, chicken kebobs, salad, pastrami and chicken salad sandwich. Friendly service, usually quick. I had a calzone here once that I wasn’t wild about, but almost everything else I’ve tried is good.(The fries remind me of McDonald’s fries, so I might go with a different side). My work orders lunch from here for our staff meetings a lot and everyone loves it! I’ve gotta try their seafood!

This review is more about the delivery service, Though the super beef was good, the delivery driver forgot my drink. He said he would return with it and never did. After a phone call was placed and the owner said it would be delivered no such luck… Guess I’ll just write this experience off and if i do order again go the pick-up route.

The food here is pretty good; if you go here you have to check out 2 things. First, on top of their pizza oven is the filing cabinet. This is where they store all of their financial documents. Second, when was the last time they cleaned this place? I worked in restaurants for years and I know most places are not clean at all. When you order your food, don’t look up. There is an inch worth of dust and dirt on the ceiling fan right above you. Besides that the food is pretty good. Jimbo’s is not worth walking 2 miles to get to, but if you are in the area feel free to stop by.

Another amazing experience in Boston. Get any size of the roast beef sandwich. I have no idea how they make these things, but I swear it is like eating kobe beef where it meat is so soft, it practically melts in your mouth. Unbelievable. I had actually ordered a fish/chips plate just to try it out, but once I had a bite of the roast beef, I was roast beef all the way! Just go in, order the roast beef sandwich with whatever toppings you like(I got mine plain) and prepare for a mouth-gasm. that is all.

Link to order on Foodler: I must say I’ve become quite a fan. The Good Roast Beef sandwiches(BBQ Sauce is excellent here, just like Kelly’s). Lobster and Scallop Roll sandwiches(The only place to order a lobster roll in the somerville area online!) Steak and Cheese subs Turkey Club sandwich with fries for 6.25! Fries and Onion rings are good. Kids menu for my kid of a wife and step-kid! Cheeseburgers are pretty good. FASTASHELLDELIVERY! Seriously my last one took 13 minutes from pressing order on Foodler to them ringing the bell. My only nuisance with this place is every time I order a Roast Beef sandwich the beef is lukewarm-always. I always nuke the sandwich for like 15 seconds when I get them. Try them.

Nothing, other than the Old North Bridge, is an absolute *must do* for every visitor who comes to stay with me in Boston than a visit to Jimbo’s. Locals understand it’s the local places, not the guide book recommendations(I’m looking at you Legal Seafood) that deliver the best quality food, atmosphere, and return on investment when looking for somewhere to dine. I’m proud to say that Jimbo’s is a *true* Boston experience. Do yourself a favor and order the Jumbo beef with BBQ sauce and light mayo. The fries are aces too.(While their seafood is also divine, it’s the melt-in-your-mouth roast beef that keeps bringing me back.) JIMBOS4LIFE!

Couldn’t have felt more at home with a couch and some Judge Judy re-runs. We were warmly greeted by the girl at the counter, and sent on our way by a friendly cook from the back. Genuine customer service is incredibly rare, and the experience I had at Jimbo’s put a little spring in my step on a snowy April day. My boyfriend and I came in on the prowl for sandwiches, and ordered the Super Beef($ 6.25) and the Chicken Sandwich(~$ 6). You’re able to customize your own sandwich: lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mayo, BBQ sauce, sauteed mushrooms and peppers mmmmmmmmmmm They both came up hot, a heavenly utopia of melted cheese and meat hugged by a loving onion roll. Sauce sits in squeeze bottles on every table, and every condiment compliments the sandwiches perfectly. After being here for 5 minutes, I fell in love with everything. I love these napkins, I love this table, I love the houses across the street. I love soft aluminum paper the sandwiches came wrapped in, I love the way the vegetables dance in a harmony of flavor, I love you. I will be back.

Unfortunately I live down the street from Jimbo’s. This is bad. Very bad. Thankfully I have the willpower to not go every night. It is a place for pure gluttony and I love it. Stick with the Roast Beef or Pastrami.(i’ve tried the haddock. Meh. But it IS called Jimbo’s Famous Roast Beef, not Famous Haddock… So 5 stars it gets.) Tip for two eaters: if you want to be gluttonous, but not over the top, order one RB Dinner and one extra sandwich. Still too many onion rings and fries for two, but I’m not complaining:) The pastrami is amazing. The last time the boyfriend and I went, they gave us both a huge slice of pizza on the house. Yummy! We were full, but still continued on to gluttony when we brought the RBs home, and stuffed our faces like good eaters. I always rate food places in terms of «date places». Very messy, don’t try this one on a date until you’re in the complete comfort zone. I have a feeling this place and Kelly’s is like the Mike’s pastry and Modern debate. I’m Jimbo’s all the way.

I’m addicted! I really loved Arby’s growing up, and I have to say that the roast beef and bbq sauce reminded me of those flavors(although Jimbo’s clearly delivers a higher quality product!) What to try: * Roast Beef Sandwich(fresh and tender sliced beef on a lightly toasted buttery bun) with BBQ Sauce and Horseradish, plus extra BBQ Sauce for dipping * Fries(light and crunchy batter) I also ordered the calamari once, which I think was decent, but I can’t remember how good it was. maybe that says something, or maybe I was too stuffed after the sandwich and fries to fully appreciate it. Other details: * Food: decent portions; the Certified Angus Beef is sliced to order, and I believe everything else is cooked to order * Restaurant: very basic; fairly small with only a handful of tables, relatively clean * Service: good; similar to a fast food chain * Parking: street parking * Location: you can easily miss it– so stay on the left lane and drive slowly when you’re close * Misc: during certain parts of the year, they close one day a week, so you might want to call ahead
