I like the authentic chinese menu at this family run Sichuan Chinese restaurant. A limited option menu here but I really like the Fish and vegetables in hot oil, sauteed chicken with peppers and the dry diced chicken with hot peppers.

I’m not sure how this place could possibly be rated as high as it is. This was easily the worst Chinese food that we’ve ever had. Started off promising as we both enjoyed the wonton soup, but it was downhill from there. We asked for some ice water and each received a glass of water with exactly 2 ice cubes in each glass. These lonely cubes were struggling to chill the water, so Iasked for a glass of ice and promptly received a glass of ice with exactly 6 small cubes. Umm… price of water high in the area? Mrs ordered Bear Paw tofu, which the owner described as fried tofu with a brown sauce over mushrooms and okra«looks like a bear paw». What she received was a soggy mess covered in a very watery brown-hued fluid. Thankfully this mess was only a loss of less than $ 10. I ordered something very simple — spare ribs combination with roast pork fried rice and an egg roll. Being that ribs can be messy, I requested«a few extra napkins». The owner returned a few minutes later with exactly 1 napkin for me. I must mention that these are the cheapo paper napkins that disinigrate when they are used. I ate one of the very saucy ribs — definitely not what I expected from a Chinese spare rib. It was more like a BBQ spare rib. As expected, it was quite messy, so I asked the owners wife(?) for«a bunch of napkins». She was quite generous and gave me 3. I told her I needed more since I ordered the spare ribs. She said«oh» and brought me back a wet paper towel — this place spares no expense. So he clears our table except for the tofu dish which was only 5% consumed — never coming back to refill waters or ask if we were enjoying our meal, and then drops off the check. He comes back in a few minutes and asks if we want a container for the tofu. I said, «honestly, that dish was awful». He said nothing and took the dish away. Needless to say we left zero tip… well except for the 40 cents change. We shall not return to this establishment. PS. It wouldn’t let me give zero stars.

best szechuang food you can get in this area, price is very reasonable, you can bring your own beer which is great for greasy spicy szechuang style dishes. the dishes here are very authentic, if you travel to taiwan, or china, and the szechuang dishes there are just like what szechuang ace serves. I came here a lot with my friends and we totally love the food here.

I used to eat out at this place every Friday night. The former owner of this place was friendly, and the service was good.

Szechuan Ace is nice old fashioned Chinese place. Today I went there for the first time. Nothing special about the décor or even the seating area. Just like hundreds other local Chinese place. However when it comes to food then certainly its different. Lots of spicy options and variations are there. Today I tried plain fried rice and shredded chicken with small hot pepper. Both the dishes were perfectly cooked. Moreover the stuff was very polite and descent. I shall definitely consider this as one of my future Chinese take outs.

This restaurant looks like so many other strip mall run of the mill Chinese restaurants, but the food is way, way above average. The key is to know they have two menus, one they give to westerners that is the usual pseudo Chinese crap, and one that is the real deal. Make sure to ask for the Chinese menu. How do you know you have the better menu? It has multiple dishes with pork intestine. They aren’t relying on the mass produced«Chinese» food shipped round the country. What’s the proof? Place is often frequented by Chinese people. The front of the house needs a paint job and the urinal in the men’s room seems to have been broken for a year, but you are going there for the chef, who is the real deal. Support this place.

Really struggling to find good Chinese food in this area. We had high hopes for this place based on the high ratings, but every dish we ordered was disappointing except for the chow fun beef(that was good). The general tso chicken was soggy, the wonton soup was just wontons with this neon yellow broth. There was no pork or scallions in it; it was just wontons and broth. Lastly, the fried noodles that came with the meal were super stale! Maybe their authentic food is better, but the americanized Chinese is not great.

Good food and the guy Tom there is always helpful and kind. The only reason why its not a 5 star is because the food is salty rather then Spicy. I like both, but I love spicy. When you go to a Szechuan place its suppose to be spicy.

Dependable, consistent, yummy neighborhood Chinese restaurant. They use bay scallops instead of sea scallops. The house special soup is very tasty. An excellent around-the-corner place, no more, no less.

Was looking for some good Chinese food in the area so I came here based on Unilocal reviews. The place looked clean and the staff was very friendly. I like that they have vegetarian options.

I have been coming here for at least 14 years and never been disappointed. The owners are very sweet people and service is fast and good. Besides the standard American Chinese food, they offered authentic Szechuan dishes, which are comfort food to me. My favorites are their spicy beef tendon, hot and sour soup, cold shredded potato in hot oil, beef brisket noodle soup, and stir fried shredded potatoes. Portions are big while prices are very reasonable. I always look forward to coming back!

I think it must be over 20 years since I last went to this restaurant. It’s practically around the corner and has good Unilocal reviews, but the late, lamented Taiwan Wok had been even closer, so that became our to-go place for Chinese food. One thing that’s exactly the same as it was way back when is the décor, or lack thereof, and it’s tired. Same old fake flowers in the window, same old tables inside, and I’m pretty sure it’s still the same owners. But the traditional menu produced excellent results: my garlic chicken was appropriately spicy and had its flavor intensified with some vinegar. The addition of baby bok choy along with the broccoli, carrots, and tender chicken was a welcome surprise. My daughter, who’s dieting, ordered a similar dish steamed, and the plentiful chicken and broccoli was tender white meat with the sauce on the side. She didn’t get the baby bok choy, but my nephew gladly relinquish it to her from his overflowing shredded pork combination plate. Her boyfriend ordered a different chicken dish(I forget which) and pronounced it delicious. Only the lo mein, which we ordered for the little guy, seemed ordinary, OK but nothing special. Overall, Szechuan Ace is a winner, and we’ll definitely return!

Wanted to try Chinese from a place other than our usual and since this was on my way home for work, and all the Unilocal reviews seemed stellar — i picked up take out. Bottom line — I didn’t have the same fuzzy feeling that the other Unilocalers did. I am going to stick to what i know.

My office always orders from this place for lunch. Skip the Americanized lunch menu and go straight for the Chinese menu. The szechuan style is very spicy which I love. Dishes I can personally recommend: Chicken w. Hot Special Sauce in Pan Sliced Lamb w. Vegetable in Hot Oil Beef w. Hot Special Sauce in Pan Sautéed Lamb w. Spinach Twice Cooked Pork Szechuan Style Fish Fillet w. Vegetable in Hot Oil Sautéed Baby Shrimp Sautéed Chinese Okra Sautéed Shredded Potato

The dishes are good but are on the salty side. Now mind you, I like salty foods and I usually eat my food on the salty side. So when I say it’s too salty. it really is tooo salty. I ordered: Seafood hot and sour soup — this was great. I would recommend for those who like hot and sour soup. There was alot of shrimp in there. Dry diced chicken with hot peppers — this was awesome. It’s my favorite dish and basically the reason I go here. Sautéed lamb with spinach — it was good, but a bit too salty. Salted fish with eggplants casserole — this dish was toooooooo salty. Unbearably salty. so salty it was inedible. Now I know that the dish says«salted fish», but I’ve had salted fish in many chinese restaurants and it never tasted like this. I would never recommend this dish to anyone. There was also a gnat in my glass of water, but I’m not faulting them for that. Ish happens

Best Chinese food I have had in NJ, bar none. Used to order lunch from work from here and pickup years ago even though they are 30 minutes away. I forgot about this place and now live only about 15 minutes away. Stopped by to check it out for a quick lunch. Ordered my old time favorite, Shredded Beef with Small Hot Peppers. It was as awesome as I remembered! From the look of it, inside and out, it is indistinguishable from a million other small local Chinese restaurants but this place is a gem! Skip the Americanized menu and stick with the Traditional Menu. Its Szechuan so the food is a bit hotter than most run of the mill Chinese food. I will not forget about this place again!

Sour cabbage and tofu soup, pork buns, Singapore noodles, three cup chicken, tea smoked duck, szchuan pork twice cooked. Everything was amazing. It’s a hole in the wall place… but the food is amazing.

I love this place so much! I’ve been coming here for a while, always with my family. My parents are really traditional Chinese wen it comes to food so you know this place has to be authentic. The inside is so-so, typical Chinese restaurant. At these family owned establishments you don’t see great décor or service. They’ll get you your food fast and fulfill your requests, but sometimes you’ll have to speak up instead of waiting around for them to come to you. Come here for the good, not the 5-star experience. The food here is delicious! Absolutely on point authentic Chinese cuisine. It even has some dishes from my childhood that you won’t find at other Chinese restaurants, like the sliced potatoes. The flavor here is very well done – just right without too many spices to mask it. They have a ton of spicy dishes like most Szechuan places, but also a great selection of mild dishes and they’re willing to tone down the spice on spicy dishes for you. I personally like spiciness though so I enjoy all of their dishes. If you’re in the area and want some authentic Chinese food, definitely give this place a try. If you’re new to authentic Chinese food, ask them for some favorites or chef specials!

A handful of restaurants make me think«home made» and this has to be one of them. Granted, my background is not Chinese but maybe its the ‘hole in the wall’ scenery that makes me think this. I am not the one to base my reviews on the ‘looks’ of the restaurant and have to say this place is a gem! apart from the way the place looks, their food has been consistent and have never been a disappointment. many have complained about saltiness but i like my food salty so i may be biased ^~^;; the owner(or the only man that has/is always been there) is kindly and the place is always quiet.(at times too quiet, they forget to put music on sometimes O, O) so dont chance on having your first date here… … though it got a little hot and heavy towards the end of our meal. lets just say that he was carried away by the contents on his phone to prioritize being discreet x) if there was a time to count on the elderly to be not so tech-savvy, tn was the best bwahahaha~ will be back for some more of that hot hot szechuan … fewd :3

Tiny little restaurant that you can easily miss. They really should consider a bigger sign board anyway that being said this little hole in the wall is a MUSTTRY for anyone who fancies SPICY this place truly gets spice! When I order something spicy, I really want it spicy. But what’s even better is that they also get that the food needs flavor along with the heat. I find all of the dishes that I have had here to have very complex flavors and perfectly bold with what you expect from a good Chinese restaurant. It’s decently priced and the meat(I usually get beef or lamb dishes) is very tender. Service is great! By far, my favorite Chinese joint in the NJ. They don’t try to Americanize their dishes like most places do. I love it. Be bold and ask for their dishes spicy if you can handle it. ;-)

My labmate(a white dude) highly recommended this place to me. According to him, this place makes really authentic szechuan style spicy food. But the dining experience was pretty disappointing. This place was really nasty. Tables were super greasy. Owner/waiter was not friendly at all. The food was extremely SALTY!!! I had no clue why all the dishes were overly salty but considering how nasty the owner was when we ordered, we decided not to complain in case they spit in our food. Ewwwwww The price was expensive in terms of the food we got. We could have spent about the same amount of money and have better food somewhere else!

Have been eating here for almost 20years and cannot remember a bad meal here! The wontons in hot oil are a must and the best I have found compared to places in Philly and NYC(Han Dynasty, grand Szechuan, etc). The orange chicken is great if eaten there, Szechuan noodles, pork or beef with hot peppers, chicken dry pot, Xiao Long Bao are all terrific. Must try nondescript place.
