Castigliego’s Seafood

Very friendly and helpful staff. Fresh seafood and willing to work with you. They always have made good on any complaints if I felt there was an issue with something and what more could you ask for? He’s even stayed late for me when I’ve called last minute for a pick up.

This is the best fish market, they have a great selection and are very helpful and knowledgable. I don’t go anywhere else.

I live not too far from this establishment, and there are additional members of this fine family that have similar seafood stores closer to me. On this particular Friday during Lent, my elderly parents had a craving for Whiting, a delicious, mild, salt-​water fish. I went to Casigliego’s in Bristol, and also to the cousin’s store in Warren – neither had Whiting. I then traveled to Somerset, and found to my delight that they had some beautiful, recently frozen Whiting. I bought them and hurried to the parent’s house to defrost. As I removed them from the plastic bag, I instantly saw a tail left on one of the fish, and then noticed that none of the seven fish had been cleaned. They were still intact with all the «guts». Oh great… I called the store and they said that they had been cleaned. I asked him to please check another of the bags at the store to tell me if those had been cleaned. He would not, instead relying on the word of his son in the background telling him that he had, indeed cleaned them. They told me to return them if I was unhappy, but that wasn’t going to happen with the 90 something y.o. parents already seeing them thawing… anyway, here I am, standing over the sink, trying to clean these previously frozen Whiting, and it isn’t pretty. Sorry, but I don’t think I’ll be back.

FRESH FISH! My mother has been buying all her seafood here since I was a baby. Great selection with great quality product.
