We are always searching out Mom & Pop restaurants were they care about customers, usually ran by family, cleaner, food is fresher, Joe’s didn’t disappoint us. We were greeted immediately and told to seat ourselves, I took notice to how clean the restaurant was, menus were spotless, if menus are dirty I leave the restaurant, I ordered a pizza, very good my husband ordered veal franchise excellent, came with a salad which was very fresh… hot Italian bread was served with the salad, will definitely return. Also it’s a BYOB

So excited to find such a fantastic gyro so close to home! No more suffering waiting for the Greek festival to get my fix! The hummus app was also delicious. Thank you Joe’s! We will be ordering again very soon!

The service wasn’t the greatest. And it took forever to get our food, the waitress did apologize about it taking so long and said she was the only one working, not sure what that had to do with the food since she wasn’t the one cooking it. She seemed very overwhelmed but only had 3 more tables besides ours… We were done dinner and our dirty plates just sat infront of us, never cleared them off not even the one time when she came over to ask us if we wanted anything else. ordered a Greek salad with dressing on the side and she brought me a salad with a ton of vinegar and oil… I didn’t send it back or complain since by that point I was famished. It was a very good salad otherwise! I had grilled chichen on it and it was seasoned very tasty… My husband ordered pasta and said it was very good.

Georgia was out waitress and was super sweet and attentive. We came here on the way back home from Ocean City, NJ. It’s right over the bridge and super convenient. I ordered the lamb gyro which was huge and the white sauce was amazing! He got chicken parm I believe and found it very satiating. It was a no frills type of place, but totally delicious food and big portions like a diner. Would definitely come back!

Fair food — subs are small and not very tasty. Also had a Greek salad — it was small — definitely not worth 12.50. And the service was horrible

This was such an amazing find! I popped in here because my gf and I were hungry as we were leaving the shore. It was a great idea! I got an eggplant parm which was very good. Prices were cheap which is always a plus and of course there is a parking lot. We had a waitress named Georgia who was very sweet and attentive. Both my gf and I commented to each other how good of a waitress she was. I think I may pop by here the next time we are on our way back to NY.

This is a small BYOB with some good selections, all under $ 20.00. One caution– DON’T order the veal. If you would like a veal dish, go to La Grotta in Ventnor.

The 5-Star rating applies only to the food I had during this visit. The BEST Chicken Francaise I’ve ever had in South Jersey… bar none. I was licking the plate after I finished with the rest of the bread, It’s a BYOB place. WEEKENDDAYSWARNING: LONGWAITFOREVERYTHING. 45 – 60 mins. to get food after ordering. WEEKDAYS: Wait for food averages about 15 mins. It’s a Greek family owned, BYOB, plain and simple sub shop with about a dozen tables. The menu is far too large. It could be trimmed down by 20−30% to keep the favorites. Service is excellent but slow due to only one waitress handling all the tables, which she did extremely well and efficient. BTW: Grandma hangs out in the corner. I don’t think she speaks English at all. We’ll be back, but only on the weekdays during high season. Otherwise, it’s AOK.

It’s a small little spot off laurel road in somers point. There are two halves to the restaurant, a restaurant side and a pick up side. The food was decent but my only qualm would be the hummus appetizer was small for the money.

This place is pretty good. The portions were reasonable and the food was good. I think I need another try to really decide where they stand. So far, it was a little better than average. We had the hummus and pita which was very good, grape leaves, and moussaka. All three were good for the price paid.

Last night. My friend and I ordered delivery from here, I got the cheesesteak panini that came with French Fries and a soda. When I tell you it was SOOOGOOD, and fresh! Usually when u order delivery you expect it to be a little cold maybe a little soggy, no not with this place. It was as if we were in the restaurant freshly plated fresh. The quality of the steak is what surprised me and the cheese was just perfectly oozing. Not all thick like some places slapped on top. The bread had a nice crisp on the outside and was super warm and soft on the inside … All for 7 bucks! Thumbs all the way up. Going there and getting the same exact thing for lunch today.

We ate at Joe’s once last year and couldn’t wait to go back. Tonight we went for dinner and everything was excellent! It was not crowded and we were seated immediately. I ordered the chicken with spinach, tomatoes and mozzarella in a marinara sauce, dining partner ordered chicken picatta. Both came with a house salad, and warm Italian bread was on the table. Everything was very tasty, and the portions were large. I was not disappointed. We will be back.

Joe’s is run by a very friendly Orthodox family whom really treats their customers like family and is a must when you’re down the Jersey shore. This restaurant has a small formal dining area and a smaller more casual one. We were the only ones in the restaurant aside from a few staff employees dining in the more casual area on a beautiful summer Sunday afternoon. I opted for their tomato and mozzarella salad which was made with fresh basil leaves and New Jersey heirloom tomatoes. I also ordered tea and out came a cup and a charming silver teapot. The portions are satisfying and the prices are reasonable. I wish I were closer because I would return.

Having bought a double-take deal, my fiancé and I decided to try out Joe’s. We ordered over the phone and opted to pick up. Our order included a large plain pie, a large Greek pie, and one order of 12 medium wings. When we arrived at the restaurant my fiancé smiled and said, «Hey, how’s it going?» The woman behind the counter stared at him blankly and responded, «What’s the name?» Uhhh, that’s some nice customer service. I mean, the dining room looked crowded but that is still no reason to be rude to a customer. As the saying goes, «Provide service with a smile,» and this woman never cracked one. As we were waiting for our order to be rung up, a second woman appeared from the kitchen and began preparing subs without gloves. I also noticed an older man near the pizza oven with longish hair and no hair net. I was getting a bit uneasy at this point, but we had already paid so there was no turning back. We served ourselves in the comfort of our own home. The plain pizza was bland; nothing really to write home about, but it was certainly better than the Greek pizza. That was honestly the worst Greek pizza I have ever had in my life. It was COVERED in white onions. White, not red ones, and they absolutely overpowered everything else on the pie. The peppers and olives were jarred, not fresh, which is a real shame considering all of the local farms in the immediate area. The pizza was completely lacking in any flavor outside of the aforementioned onions. Since the Greek pizza sucked, I turned to the wings which can usually be the saving grace. These too were a disappointment. Joe’s version of wings were simply fried, and the hot sauce was in a plastic to-go container, not tossed in the sauce. Nowhere on the menu was it specified that the wings would not be tossed, nor did the employee on the phone mention this. To boot, the wings were tiny and dry which lead me to believe they had gone from the freezer straight to the fryer. That’s a huge no-no in the world of wings. I probably could’ve saved the $ 15 on the double take deal and put it towards buying the ingredients at the grocery store. Just don’t waste your time with Joe’s or their unnecessarily extensive menu.

This place is great so long as you like paying a lot for so little. My son got a cheesesteak and I got an eggplant parm sandwich. Must have been only 3 or 4 slices of eggplant in my sandwich and the steak in his sandwich was almost non-existent. I have had decent pizza slices in this place over the years but their sandwiches suck.

I had dinner there a few a nights ago and was really disappointed given the great reviews on here. It was a Friday night, I was dining alone, and the restaurant was very crowded, so I was seated in the informal pizza area rather than the more formal dining room. I didn’t mind that, however. My server brought me a diet Coke that had a rather odd kind of musty aftertaste. She was so busy however(she seemed to be the only server for the entire restaurant, which was pretty full) that I didn’t complain about it. The menu is startlingly huge, which I usually think is a red flag. Although the restaurant has a lot of posters featuring Greece, the menu is mostly Italian food. I decided to go Greek. I ordered the skordalia, a dip made with potatoes and garlic served with grilled pita bread, as an appetizer. It was just okay. The dip is seriously garlicky, which I don’t mind. What I didn’t like about it was the amount of lemon juice in it; it was so much that it pretty much overpowered the dip. To be fair, this is the first time I have had skordalia, so maybe that’s the way it’s normally made, but it just didn’t seem to be very balanced in terms of flavor. I ordered the chicken souvlaki platter, which came with a Greek salad and rice. The salad was underwhelming — just your basic garden salad with a couple of Kalamata olives and some feta. What really makes a good Greek salad is a good Greek vinaigrette, and this one didn’t have it. Again, the balance of flavors seemed to be off — the dressing was heavy on vinegar and lemon juice, and seemed to have hardly any oil to balance out the acidity, not to mention a lack of Greek seasoning. The feta was the highlight of the salad; it was very creamy and flavorful. One thing that I thought was odd was that the salad was served with bread that was basically like a sub roll. Given that I had ordered a Greek dish, I kind of expected pita bread to be served with it. They obviously have it since it came with the skordalia; it’s a small, inexpensive touch, but it would make a big difference. My entrée came after a bit of a wait. The chicken was cooked perfectly, with a nice sear that left it still tender and juicy inside. My compliments have to end there, however. There was hardly any seasoning or Greek flavor to it whatsoever. Honestly, I think a grilled chicken sandwich at Applebee’s has more pizzazz. The rice tasted only of the bay leaves that I had to pull out of it. I was expecting tzatziki to be served with it; it certainly would have made the dish more interesting. I would have asked my server to bring me some, but she was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. I had asked her to bring me another drink when she delivered my entrée, but she forgot it. She was so busy that I really can’t blame her. To her credit, she realized the error when she brought me my check, apologized, and offered me a soda to go. Strangely enough, the to-go soda tasted much better than the first one I was served. All in all, I don’t think I will be going back. Maybe I would think this place were great if it were the only Greek place in town, but there are too many other, better options around here to warrant a return visit.

My husband and I have a shore house in Somers Point and friends of ours recommended us to Joe’s and now we dine there once a week! For starters, what a great family! They are all always pleasant and their food is the best Greek food in town! Their feta cheese is to die for and their dishes are amazing! Their portions are big so great leftovers the next day! They even have take-out sandwiches and pizza, which is also great! If you are ever in the Somers Point, ready to head into Ocean City, please stop by this lovely place before the 9th Street Bridge because you won’t be disappointed. Ask for Georgia, she is awesome! #bestplaceintown

On memorial day 2013 we had an early dinner at Joe’s Mediterranean Grill. Very modest venue with a surprising large and varied menu. The four of us ordered 4 different dishes. The portion chicken parmesan was unusually generous, tender, moist and flavorful. My Anthula Veal was simply delicious. It consisted of lightly breaded veal medallions, artichokes, fresh sliced peppers, capers and mushrooms in a delicious white wine sauce, accompanied by a side linguini in a spicy marinara sauce. We all shared a side of steamed fresh spinach. I have one word: Outstanding ! The green salads were fresh and ample. We all shared a bottle of California Cab(it is BYOB) and were challenged to finish our portions. The tab was more than reasonable. We learned that Anthula is actually the name of the co-owner who created my Veal dish. She came by our table and discussed the restaurant her family background(Greek) etc. She is a warm engaging person. It was a great experience. A true family establishment that really cares about its patrons and provides a great experience. I also learned from Anthula that their White Pizza is also excellent. Will have to try it next time. I can summarize by saying that we were pleasantly surprised and that this is probably one of the best kept secrets in the Margate, Ventnor Somers Point area. If you are in the mood of a great Italian fare, this is the place! We certainly will be back!

My wife & I drive to the shore every weekend from northern Jersey and were happy to discover Joe’s. Excellent subs and Greek food. Friendly owners as well.
