As a starter I am a trans male. Meaning I am transition from female to male. As another starter I already have short hair and i usually generally pass as male unless im not wearing my chest binder. This day I was not because getting my hair cut causes me anxiety and wearing a chest binder does not help with that. So my mom and I walk in and the lady working says«what can I help you with?» I say that i just need to get my hair cut, without asking what i want to be done or anything the stylist says«I don’t cut womens hair» I calmly say that its going to be a male haircut and she repeats herself telling me that she doesnt do female haircuts. I walk out because im quite angry and dont feel like dealing with this chick. My mother stays and basically tells her how disrespectful it was and that I am infact male, and she says that shes done females hair before and they didnt like the way it turned out because it was too short. My mom lets the lady know that it wouldve been like cutting a males hair because thats what I am. I ended up going to Hair Masters in Northbend to get my haircut and it turned out great. Im hoping she changes the way she thinks because to the trans community that was extremely disrespectful and im glad to say i will never be returning.

Janna is new owner who purchased this historic shop from Jerry Main’s wife Sue when she retired. Stopped by for haircut… very happy with it… highly recommend!
