I have been shopping at this store for several years, making a conscious effort to buy locally rather than from the Big Box guys. But yesterday I was ripped off by a bait and switch add for 20% off and I don’t appreciate it. I may go back, but not for a while. I am willing to pay a bit more and to not have as expansive a selection of products but don’t rip me off or I’ll find another place to shop for my paint, hardware and tools. If you shop there, be careful. They are not your friendly neighborhood hardware and garden store. I still like the staff but the management just went way down in my book.

This would be my «local» garden shop. It’s ok, since it’s also an Ace Hardware they aren’t as nice looking as Troy garden supply.

I shop here periodically, largely when I receive coupons in the mail, or when I need something common, such as a light bulb, wrench, chain saw oil, propane, etc… It’s sometimes a bit pricier than the larger chain stores, but it saves time due to the distances of walking from the parking lot, to the merchandise I want, to the register, and back to the car. They also always seem to have employees around where I am, as opposed to the larger stores where I’ve had to hunt them down. There is also a small engine repair shop, which the larger stores don’t have. Great if you’re having an issue with a lawnmower, snowblower, etc… The nursery side has a decent selection of everything from evergreens to fruit and flower bearing plants. They also deliver mulch, stone, soil, etc… There is tool rental as well, for anything from backhoes to wood splitters.
