Had a very nice Jazz brunch today at Palmettos. Excellent selection of breakfast items, meats, cajun food and desserts. Also comes with free mimosa or champagne. The outdoor patio is wonderful. Even on this extremely hot day the fans were blowing and it was pleasant enough. You can listen to jazz and take a stroll down the walkway to the rivers edge. Nestled in the bayou surrounded by live oak trees covered in spanish moss, the atmosphere alone is worth the trip.

This place was excellent. I would definitely go back for Sunday brunch. The only reason they only got 4 starts instead of 5 is it took a long time to get our omelets and the service was a little slow but in their defense it was busy… They had a very wide selection of traditional brunch and creole dishes. The eggs Benedict was very tasty and the catfish tasted so fresh. They had live music out on they deck and you can walk down by the water.

My first visit even though I have lived in Slidell over 11 years. We had the brunch since it received really good reviews. Our server, never gave her name, disappeared after she brought our drinks. We had to ask another server for her to come back. The brunch food was nothing spectacular. I overheard the server at another table offer special order omelets or eggs Benedict as part of the brunch. I asked our server about the offer and she confirmed it was available. I ordered the eggs Benedict. It was okay as was the rest of the food. For as little food as I ate, the $ 19.95 price wasn’t so bad. I would go back to try the lunch or dinner menu but not for brunch.

This is where I go when I want flawless service, delicious food, and a gorgeous outdoor view. When you approach Palmettos, you can immediately sense that someone really loves and cares about this place. My boyfriend and I take our boat and dock it on the bayou for Sunday brunch that is TODIEFOR– there is always a completely professional and charming jazz duo, but I don’t know if I like the duo or the buffet better(I’m a foodie and a music snob). Cheese grits, smoked salmon, fresh fruit, hash brown casserole, and boiled shrimp are just a few dishes I can recall that really impressed me. I will be back here again and again.

Omg!!! This is the BEST brunch on the plant!!! It’s on the bayou and can be accessed by boat. The scenery is so amazing. Every time we have brunch, we take an outside table and bask in the aesthetics while eating front the brunch buffet. And don’t get me wrong… This is nowhere near your typical buffet; I have yet to taste one bad food item from Palmettos!!! During brunch they serve bottomless mimosas, and the service is amazing. The food is always hot and seasoned to perfection. If you’re traveling from out of town and need a GREAT place to eat, this is the spot. Now that I’m done with this review, I’m going to head over that way now!!!

We had an awesome view with an incredible beautiful day on the deck. Great outside deck overlooking the river! Had the veal parmigiana and it was really good. The soft shell crab was just ok. The little champagne bottles were good too. If you’re looking for a beautiful outside place to eat with a little better than decent food then definitely go here.

Went there for Easter Brunch. The food was good but COLD! They need to keep the food at least warm. Cold sweet potatoes, cold eggs, cold grits, etc. Disappointed.

Well my experience started with calling to get better directions. Such a sweet and informed lady helped me out. The staff was sweet and nice an accommodating. I sat on the deck with the most exquisite view. The Bloody Mary was delicious-loved the shrimp topping the glass as well as the seasoned Tony’s rimming the glass. Got the tomatoe Mozzarella salad and it is huge and very tasty. I will so be back!

We saw the signs on i10 and stopped in. The place was empty and asked us if we had reservations. They stalled us for about 5 minutes and we left.

Had the crawfish bisque and the crab & asparagus soup, very good but the smallest portion ever. Also had the baby drum and it was outstanding. Very light. My wife had the mozzarella salad and it was very tasty. Free desert coupon on Unilocal only good at lunch.

I’ve only eaten here twice, and each time the food has been excellent. I’m in love with their fried green tomato dish, so well balanced in flavor and appealing to the eyes. The coconut curry dish was a special on my second trip there, I pray they put it on their regular menu. I also had the crème Brulee, but forgot to take the picture. Delicioso and silky smooth. However, I wish they would have caramelized the top just before they served it instead of making it in advance and storing it in the fridge, it lacked the hard caramel crust. I don’t think I’ll be ordering it again for that reason. Still I’m giving it 5 stars because the whole experience was wonderful.

This review is of Palmetto’s as a reception hall ONLY. I have never dined here, although that will change very soon. I keep forgetting about this place! My sister got married in April of 2014 and they had their wedding reception here. It was absolutely GORGEOUS. It’s right on Bayou Bonfouca and they have a very beautiful outside area with a dock and a very large deck with a few secluded deck areas that are really comfy. My house is actually further up the bayou from Bayou Vincent and I toyed with the idea of arriving by pirogue, but I opted for the wagon instead. Although, I LOVE restaurants where you can arrive by boat if you wish. It adds a certain Louisiana charm to the place. I was in the wedding party and the staff seemed very attentive and my sis and bro-law both said that they picked the perfect place for their reception. It is very open; inside and out. The outdoor bar is a nice addition and they didn’t mind that I brought my own drinks. Although they had the normal beers that people drink, I required a few more… «festive and special» ales and lagers. They were quick to offer to keep my ice chest behind the bar and supplied me with a brew quickly and with superb service. I did sample some of the food. Although I don’t remember anything that stood out like«WHAM! WOWIE! THATWASDELICIOUS!», I don’t recall anything I had being bland or anything like that. At a reception, you tend to remember if the food sucked more so than if had been really good. I don’t know why that is. I can’t think of anything I had to complain about, so it must have been quite good! It was a bit warm that night and so Palmetto’s even had those portable AC units that they placed out on the deck that made the night a tad more comfortable. If your family is born and raised on the bayous and swamps of Southern Louisiana, and you want to get married and/or have a reception in a VERY Louisiana setting, I can’t think of any better place than Palmetto’s, really. The grounds are very well kept and there are several very large live oaks dotting the entire property. There are swampy lands nearby because it IS on the bayou, afterall, but you know, I don’t recall very many mosquitoes, so I’m guessing they took an initiative to combat those pests. I can’t be sure of that, but I AM sure that I was not getting bit up all night. I DO recall those comforting sounds of the swamp, though, like treefrogs and crickets nearby. I’m pretty sure I even thought I heard a few bullfrogs and an owl nearby that night as well. I guess the only drawback to Palmetto’s is that it’s tucked away behind Heritage park and it’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it or if you don’t know where you’re going. I WILL eat here one day soon. But in the meantime… If I ever get married, Palmetto’s is first on the list for a reception area until/unless I find somewhere even better!

I’ve now dined at Palmettos twice. Dinner was tasty(4 stars) but lunch was awesome! Great lunch menu for great prices. Most entrees were $ 12. If in Slidell for lunch, stop by. Nice venue for events as well. Shrimp, Fried Grits, and Tasso was amazingly delicious! I could eat it often. Great spicy sauce, great portion, fried grits were perfection $ 12. Yum… Catfish, Jalapeño Hushpuppies and Fennel Slaw was also tasty — well fried, slaw wasn’t over sauced which I appreciated $ 13. Crawfish Beignets had good crawfish flavor and was served with a tasty Asian inspired mayo $ 9. Crab cakes had a good amount of crab and were well fried $ 12.

Outstanding restaurant! Holy smokes… who would have thought that Slidell would have an upscale restaurant serving great food! I was pleasantly surprised! I had the filet that was perfectly cooked along with the most delicious potatoes au gratin! The crème brûlée to end was perfect. Service was outstanding. I only wish the weather was a little cooler because their outside seating in beautiful! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Had a great meal here alongside Bayou Bonfouca. The chef, Daniel Bourgault, trained under Besh and is former chef of Besh Steak. In other words he knows his stuff. We started with the shrimp remoulade and fried green tomatoes. This is a dish on menus all over the city but here it was special. The plating was beautiful and the remoulade was perfect. We also had the fried oysters with truffle butter(do I even have to tell you that was good?) and crawfish beignets to start. The beignets had whole crawfish tails inside… yum. For mains I had the trout amandine, crusted in slivered almonds and served with potatoes and green beans. A solid and traditional dish. Others at the table had puppy drum with maque choux and the catch pontchartrain, which was sheepshead that day. All of the entrees were good and the presentation was great. Palmettos has a wonderful atmosphere and I loved the food; I only give four stars because I think the menu could be a little more challenging to the diner. Most of the dishes I’ve seen before, but that isn’t to say they aren’t done well here.

Palmetto’s offers an ambience that cannot be found in New Orleans. Cedar wood, cypress trees, streamed lights, candles, and tiki torches on the bayou. One of the most romantic places I have ever been. On a nice day come before sunset, stay for the sunset then see it at night. You won’t be disappointed. Well worth the 30 – 40 minute drive from New Orleans. Food and drinks were delicious. Catfish a and jalapeño hush puppies were a standout, as were the crawfish beignets. Service was on point and you can tell that they care about ensuring all customers leave happy. Very relaxed environment. Dress casual or professional; either way you will not feel out of place. Note, the back area was remodeled a month ago. I never saw the old back area of the restaurant(part near the water), but the new area looks outstanding.
