My favorite breakfast spot in Slidell. The country potatoes are to die for, onions, bell peppers flavor this delicious side … & a really nice helping! Hand painted tables & friendly atmosphere plus they serve breakfast until 10:30 am, not the usual 10. Handicapped accessible to boot

Camellia Café does not disappoint. Their breakfast is delicious and unique with a lot of southern flare(grits and country potatoes that will keep you coming back). Everything i have ordered here(eggs Benedict, omelette, both with the sides I mentioned above) were stellar. Prices are not Rock bottom, but worth the extra dollar or two compared to waffle H. The décor is something special– Cajun and cute, but tasteful. I see people ordering breakfast cocktails, but I haven’t tried one yet. I plan to go back again and again.

We ate here on a Tuesday evening when they advertised .50 half shell oysters, a party of 7. First of all their handicapped spot was occupied by 2 motorcycles, an elderly lady in our party uses a walker, therefore we had to park away from the entrance to help her inside. We sat down and ordered 3 dozen oysters on the half shell and was told they’re «sold out»(that was our main reason for going there), not to mention the sign outside read .50 raw oyster special! The waitress knew we were disappointed by the sigh we gave her. She told the manager we were disappointed and she said that the manager was going to «do something for us». We placed our orders of seafood platters and shrimp and oyster po-boys, the sandwiches hardly had any seafood on them! While we were eating we saw another table eating raw oysters and were told by the waitress that they called and reserved those in advance!!! We paid our bill, by the way the manager never«did anything for us»! Needless to say we“ll never go back and I’ll tell everyone I know what a terrible experience we had!!!

I have been going to this restaurant for many years. For the past year it has become hit or miss. My recent visit will be my last. The quantity and quality has changed drastically. Corn, crab and shrimp bisque was good but not like it use to be. My catfish was under cooked and hardly any there. The mac n cheese had to have come from a box. Our waitress was great and we left her a good tip. But this is my last visit!

Love the people and the place. Great breakfast and lunch. Poboys are good. Love the french toast for breakfast. Don’t know what brand coffee they use, but it is super. Chef regularly comes out of the kitchen to talk to guest. Also it’s close to work.

I drive by this eatery every time I go to the mall and it’s usually busy. Today I decided to order lunch to go. I ordered the fried green tomatoes topped with crawfish étouffée, a kid’s red beans and rice and 2 orders of spaghetti and meatballs; one with salad and the other with gumbo. The fried green tomatoes were too thick. Some pieces were too ripe and soggy. The crawfish étouffée topping was just yuck! The red beans and rice was bland. The spaghetti noodles were overcooked and the meatballs were dry. The gumbo was just plain disgusting. It is safe to say I will never come here again.

I have family that live in the area… and they rave about this restaurant. Since I’m always on the hunt for some good food, I figured while in the area, why not stop? Let me first say that the only real reason that I’m giving a 3 star review is based on my family member’s experiences that I was not a part of. We had the shrimp, corn, and crab bisque which was tasty and full of crab, but the shrimp were a bit overdone. No biggie. What really put me on the downslope was the wait time to be helped and to order. Took quite awhile. Then, the thing that really did it was my entrée. Had the roast beef poboy and I was not satisfied at all. The roast beef tasted like sliced deli meat that someone sautéed with the brown gravy mix. What made it worse is that I found a hair on my food. Our waitress was very kind and did not charge us, however it was still not a great experience. Hopefully it was just an «off day» and it isn’t like this all the time.

This is a pretty decent little café where you can get Louisiana classics. The service is a little slow, but I believe that’s because they make most items starting close to scratch. The red beans and rice were very good(more beans than rice). The softshell crab po boy wasn’t bad, but could’ve used a little more sauce. The Italian muffelatta was pretty good, but the olive tapenade fell all over the place. All in all, if you’re just looking for a little café to grab a bite I would definitely recommend this place.

I love this place. Kind people and amazing food. I’ve ordered several different things and we’ve been several different times. Everything is amazing and so fresh. Best gumbo and jalapeño poppers I’ve ever had.

Ordered breakfast here with coffee. The food was good. The service staff was friendly but there was a wait before we got our food. No problems with anybody’s breakfast this is a good place to come and have breakfast and the prices were fair. I would come back for another visit to try something else on their menu.

Nasty The food is REALLY salty. So much so that I am going to have to watch my blood pressure and I’m not even sure I can finish the sandwich, never mind anything else. The food is pretty bland except for the incredible amount of salt. The french fries have something on them thats gross, it’s one of those places that has some kind of batter on their fries. Pointless waste of money. Will never be doing this again.

This was our first visit here. It is a small place, and filled quickly with locals coming for Saturday dinner. We started with the onion rings, which were fantastic. A bit on the large side, but with a wonderful crispy batter, and good dipping sauce. This was easily enough for four people, we could not finish them. My wife had the Hwy 59 Seafood Pasta. It was very good, but she mentioned that she did not find any crabmeat, but was happy with the amount of crawfish and shrimp. I had one of their seafood platters, but don’t remember the name. It was something like the Riverland seafood platter, it comes with a soft shell crab, and was $ 22.95. There was plenty of food here, enough for two. Unfortunately, except for the fish, it was all overcooked. Oysters were cooked so much that they were just little balls of crunch. We finished with the bread pudding. It was okay, nothing to write home about. I would not get it again. The service was good, though. Courtney took good care of us, and did a fine job of getting us out quickly when we mentioned we were on the way to a concert and had to get on the road. We are not locals, and probably will not go out of our way to eat here again. However, if we were local, I definitely would give it another try. It seemed to be very popular, so the food must generally be pretty good. Perhaps this was just an off night for them.

Great food and great service service. Samantha was the best. She took good care of us. When were in Slidell again we’ll make this a for sure stop. Were from Clearwater visiting our daughter. The best catfish I’ve ever had.

Food was very basic and lacked seasoning. Baked Mac n Cheese had a plastic taste and wasn’t «baked.» More of a liquid cheese and pasta. Salad was something anyone could easily prepare at home. Very disappointing considering all of the hype I’ve heard about this place. It seems like the leftovers of Speckled T’s. That being said… Service was excellent and atmosphere was fun, but still warm enough for a nice date. Maybe we had an off night on food, but not worth another try for at least 6 months.

Really and truly disgusting. This place needs to have a visit from Gordon Ramsey. We had take out from here last night which cost about $ 50. We had jalapeño poppers, chicken wings, spring rolls and gumbo. The chicken wings were falling apart and not in a good way. Greasy and tasteless. The jalapeño poppers were undercooked and the oil they use must need replacing as everything fried tasted like dirty oil. The spring rolls were so terrible that I started gagging when I put it in my mouth. The gumbo seemed to be ok until you got to the bottom and then it was flemy. Even writing about this good makes me feel ill. I don’t want to know what the kitchen looks like. It was a waste of my $ 50 and if i had been dining in I would not have paid. The only positive from thus experience is that I know to never ever eat here again!

Ok, I’m not understanding the near perfect rating for this place. I’m honestly baffled. This place is mediocre at best. I’m not really sure why people think this restaurant is the shiznit, but ummm, it’s not. I’ve eaten here or four different occasions. Once by choice and the other three because I was outnumbered. I was underwhelmed every time. The service is always pretty good which is the only reason I gave it two stars instead of one. The problem with this restaurant is the food. It’s subpar. I had a mufalatta once that was seriously on the skimpy side when it came to the meat and cheese but had oodles and oodles of olive salad mix. Ugh. I thought the sandwich was supposed to be made the other way around. I ordered onion rings once and while nice and thinly sliced like I prefer them, they were drenched in grease. So much that I couldn’t eat them. I know what you’re thinking… they’re onions fried in oil so sure they’ll be greasy. But it seemed as though they were taken straight out of the frying pan and piled on a plate. Aren’t you supposed to put those puppies in a drip basket to drain a bit before you serve them? I recently had a conversation with a friend about this place and we were discussing how the food here tastes like cafeteria food. He put it perfectly when he said, «nothing tastes fresh. I bet they don’t even crack their own eggs. The probably order them and have them shipped already cracked in a plastic bag.» Seems like that could be true to me. Save your money guys and go somewhere else.

It’s very rare to offer 5 stars but Camellia is close. I’ve never had a bad meal and they are always priced reasonable. Not just good for po-boys but I love their roast beef and hot sausage poboys.
