Homemade sweet corn crab bisque that will make you dip your sandwich in and want more! Will definitely be back for a bigger bowl next time! Friendly staff and beautiful store. If you have not taken the time to stop as you drive by on the interstate YOUMUST. One happy girl today!

The grilled, or pressed, po boy was delicious! We split a roast beef and a small bowl of jambalaya. Finished it off with the bread pudding drizzled with rum sauce. The food came out super fast. The store was awesome, bathrooms were clean, and staff absolutely friendly and pleasant! Would love to stop in again, and will highly recommend to others.

The wraps are really good and the Mardi Gras dip is amazing too! But, I think $ 12 is a bit pricy for a wrap, some corn chips, Small thing of Mardi Gras dip and a drink.

Overpriced, marginal quality. Just had a large jambalaya, portion was pretty small for $ 10. Meat was way over cooked and chewy. The whole thing was dry, no moisture at all. Almost like it had been sitting for days. Not even any spice to it, very bland. My wife’s po boy was passable, but nothing special.

Nice place to stop for a light lunch w/homemade dessert and gifts on your way home from New Orleans. The general store also had an area where they were making praline candy and sauce. The store had unique items. Some may have been pricey but nothing was junky or cheaply made. Inside and out it was authentically Cajun. Definitely will stop by again when in area.

Delicious & unique treats under one roof. Had BLT wrap & sausage po-boy. Enjoyed it to the last bite. Pralines & bread pudding is just as satisfying!

Found this place on the way home from New Orleans via Slidell. It kind of sneaks up on you, so be careful. Everything Louisiana. Awesome pralines, very friendly staff.

This is where I purchase all my little gifts for others when I visit NOLA. The prices are very reasonable but the true star of the attraction is the praline shop(repeat: prah-lean). They are fresh and on par with the best pralines in the city at Southern Candy Maker. Only this place has precious packaging, are better priced, and guaranteed to be fresh.

Not so impressed. Jambalaya nachos and corned beef poor boy Creole mayo not very spicy Tostitos used for nachos and with poor boy Jambalaya more like dirty rice No flavor Guess we should have had gumbo but just ate it last night. Disappointing!

I’ll have to say the Bayou Country store is pretty amazing. Everyone is friendly and the chewy pralines are to die for. About a year ago the café switched owners, and god forbid they changed my favorite roast beef poboy. It used to have sliced roast beef with Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and spicy mayo. They replaced the sliced roast beef with what could have been canned roast beef along with the gravy inside of it. Nasty. Not what I’m looking for served on a panini style sand which.

A very nice Bayou Country store right beside the highway. They offer many things for the customer to buy including the following items spices, hot sauce from mild to extremely smoking hot and hotter depends on the person’s taste. They do sale BBQ sauce, aprons, books and many more items. They do have a café on site but it is closed for renovations supposedly they have a bait shop on site as well but didn’t see it so not sure where they have it at. Also they sale t shirts for the customer from Small to XXL. They have many different Pralines they make in the store fresh. The Pralines are delicious and yummy best thing about Louisiana is the Pralines, Coffee and Beignets. The customer service from the staff is excellent really nice and curtious plus really helpful when my family had a question about one of the Pralines we tasted was some what bitter but they fixed it for us. If you are in the area or with the family stop by this place you’ll like it

Bayou Country is a shop in Slidell which sells all types of Louisiana memorabilia. You can get everything from hot sauces and roux to Louisiana themed art for your home. Their pralines are the best I have ever had. The prices are reasonable, too. The store is huge but everything is arranged well and it’s easy to navigate around in there. Another great thing about the store is they have lots of great gift baskets in all shapes and sizes. There are some that are pre made or you can choose the items yourself and they’ll pack it up into a pretty package. They make great gifts. Don’t tell him, but my brother who lives in another state and misses Louisiana very much is getting one of them this year for Christmas. Recently Bayou Country has added a café and although I’ve heard great things about the food I haven’t tried it yet so I can’t comment on that part of the store. If you need some Louisiana themed gifts at a great price you should try going to Bayou Country. I know you’ll find something special.

Never had a bad experience. The pralines are the best in Louisiana. My sister-in-law had a traditional New Orleans wedding complete with a second line down Canal. She passed out Bayou Country’s pralines and everyone loved them. My favorite day to visit is Thursdays. That is when the café in the back has seafood pasta. Always delicious. The down side is that the café starts serving at 11 am. I recommend that you arrive at opening to avoid the«sorry, we are sold out». No trip to Louisiana is complete without a stop at Bayou Country.

Just arrived to New Orleans? Looking for some help on things to see and do in the area? In need of some Cajun/Creole style gifts? Then Bayou Country store is your one-stop-shop for activity planning and souvenir shopping. Although this place does sell food, my friend and I came here in need of souvenirs during our vacation in New Orleans. The building is huge and can easily be spotted along the Interstate 10 between N.O. and Slidell. We dropped in just as they were closing to get buy some local gifts for family and friends back home. The store is very clean inside and has a «country» themed décor inside. A very sweet young lady, who works at the store’s tourist information center, struck up small talk with us. After disclosing that we were from out of town(did our Californian accents give it away?) and were interested in exploring some local landmarks, she sat down with us for a good 15 minutes to explain some of the most popular attractions in the area, tips on local dishes and even the«not-so-nice» parts of town to be careful of! After stocking up on maps and touristic brochures, we bought some gifts while the store owner(Al Blue) entertained us with conversation about his store, family and New Orleans Saints /NFL small talk. By time we looked at our clock, we had realized that the store was well past closing time and that both the young lady and Al Blue were staying past their work hours to accommodate us! I can’t speak highly enough about the hospitality and kindness that both the young lady and Al Blue showed us that day. Though the store offers unique in-house dishes, desserts and snacks to enjoy, many of the souvenirs can be found many of the tourist gift shops in New Orleans. However what separates the Bayou Country store from the rest is not only the wide selection of items for sale, but of the honest-to-goodness Southern hospitality that you can receive. I highly recommend stopping here for anyone needing to plan activities in the New Orleans area as well stocking up on local snacks and souvenirs.

The Cajun sandwich with the cajun mayo! This place has got it going on. Its like a reverse Cracker barrel. Big Store small eatery. However it also has a praline baker, fresh tasty goodness. The store items range from cheap to, who would pay that much for that? Overall, stop in for a bite, its a nice place.

Bayou Country is a one-of-a-kind«tourist» shop located on the edge of Slidell, carrying a random selection of everything Louisiana. They carry all the little magnets and souvenirs you’d expect to find in the city. They also carry those silly alligator heads and back-scratchers that everyone within 300 miles seems to have. But it would be wrong to judge a store just by these products. Bayou Country carries just about everything. They have one of the largest selections of hot sauce in the area, if not the largest. They stock all kinds of local seasonings and make fresh pralines in the store. They have plenty of snacks and novelty foods, along with home goods and other items. especially for the kitchen. Bayou Country also stocks some really nice local art, particularly paintings and photography. There is a small café in the back of the store that serves po-boys. Bayou Country markets it’s café as the home of the original, grilled po-boy. Although I have tried their pralines and fudge, I haven’t been to the café for lunch and cannot comment on their food. Selection aside, their customer service is great. The employees are really helpful and friendly. The store itself is also pretty clean and well kept. I don’t have any complaints, but there is one thing that would make this store better; they need to carry Big Shot, it’s a local favorite! It’s great store overall and a whole lot safer than going to the French Quarter for something similar. I’d recommend this place to anyone passing by, tourists and locals alike.

Great products but over priced. I saw a cool painting in here then travel led about a mile down the road and saw the painting for about $ 10 cheaper!
