As soon as you step into this building it’s like you can finally take a breath and let go of the stress of everyday life. The atmosphere that has been created is just incredibly calming and welcoming. All of the teachers are very friendly and warm, so it’s a great place for beginners and experienced yogis alike. There are a ton of different types of classes and workshops, so it’s nice to be able to explore a lot of different types of yoga. Overall it’s wonderful to do yoga in a «center» rather than just a studio. It’s about more than just exercise(although if that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll definitely get it!) and more about learning how to deal with stress and grow as a person.

The new location is beautiful and serene, surrounded by nature. The staff is friendly and the teachers are very warm & skilled. I’ve taken several hot yoga classes, and though it was my first time, I felt confident and left feeling AMAZING! The prices are good, especially with all the amenities they have. There are tons of times and different styles and teachers. I look forward to continuing my hot yoga adventures here!

Today was the day I realized I am officially in terrible shape. It’s true, 8 people were there to witness my demise, just ask them. I hadn’t gone to hot yoga since college and this class was a rude awakening. Being my first time there, I printed out directions(old school sans GPS style) and got there embarassingly early. The guy at the front desk was so sweet and gave me the 20 second tour. I peaked into a class that was in session with about 8 students or so. Deep down, I like the small class sizes– the teacher can pay more attention to my form and I don’t feel like I’m going to smack the person next to me. But I always have that momentary freak out that everyone will see how amateur I am, me in my Nike running shorts and ratty old t-shirt. The class itself was… hot. Like, REALLY hot. Like ‘ZOMG I CAN’T BREATHE’ hot. Didn’t help that it was 90 degrees outside today. The teacher, Kimberly, was great. She was more talkative than I was used to but then again, I had only done some serious and fast-paced Bikram in my glory days. She had us really focus on breathing which was a huge help when I was on the verge of fainting. I had to leave the room once or twice but she didn’t make me feel bad about it(we actually ended up turning off the heaters it was so hot). I felt great afterwards, like I always do, and I sweat out a weeks worth of fluids. At the $ 18 drop-in price tag, I don’t think I will be returning as a drop in– their packages seem more reasonable. I aim to go back and try their Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, something to ease me into shape without pushing me over the edge. Then I’ll tackle the sweatbox again.

Update 4⁄23: Of the 5 yoga studios I visited on Tuesday, I liked this one the best. There is a person to answer questions at the entrance, and I was even given some hints as to how to relieve some of my back pain even if I didn’t take a course. That was really nice! Another BIG plus: no equipment is required by the students; some studios request that even beginning students have a mat, block, and a few other things I can’t remember. This turned me off as a newcomer, as the last thing I need to do is spend $ 100 for equipment + the cost of a class just to see whether yoga was something I wanted to do at all. I took the prenatal class yesterday and I liked it. Calm and soothing, with the added benefit of loosening up my shoulders while relieving my back pain. It wasn’t as goofy as I was afraid it might be, and for a beginner, very helpful. Nothing was too strenuous, and it was the opposite of the gym mentality with women competing with one another. Instead, simply calm and collected. My biggest problem now is scheduling. Their prenatal class is now on Thursday evenings, the same time as my birthing classes. Between that, the open house at the Pediatrician’s office, and a short vacation, I won’t be back for 7 weeks following my initial class. :( For that, another star. I can’t wait to get back! 3 star rating: 12/22/2009 The yoga center finally got back to me, so I have to visit one of these weekends. For anyone pregnant, there are weekly classes on Saturday at noon.
