Stopped by for a dinner when the minor league baseball wasn’t in town. There were only 2 other groups in the restaurant, so it seemed to be very good customer service The food… not so sure: Cheese Balls — I guess that is what Iowa calls what is otherwise known as cheese curds. This version has a heavy breading and they were over cooked. About half of the balls had the cheese that had boiled out of the balls, so just hard, empty balls of breading Chili cheeseburger — open faced, with a dry version of chili across the top of the patties. It was a heavy on the bean chili, and I would not have guessed it was chili Garlic fries — very tasty, and very crispy, but also empty inside the fry? I think they are using that same style that a national chain went to a couple of years ago, where the manufacturer extrudes tubes of processed potato — it does keep them crisp Taco Salad — the beef on top of the salad was off, the taste and the texture just wasn’t right. They did take it back, and took the salad off the bill — so that is part of what makes me comment that the service was good for our visit Last comment, all of the entrees are over $ 10, but they all seemed to be a fairly healthy serving, so it did seem that you are getting a decent value

The staff was friendly, fun and made me feel welcome. This is a change from some of the pubs and restaurants that I’m used to now in Chicago. I had fun here and if the opportunity presents itself I’ll return.

Clyde’s has a big floor plan, plenty of seats, a huge/varied menu and big TVs. So in theory it should be a great sports bar to watch the game or hang out. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. The problem with Clyde’s is inconsistency. I honestly have been there numerous times this fall, looking to watch a particular sporting event and not wanting to fight the crowds at BWW. One Saturday evening I ordered prime rib and it was just the best I have had in a long time. Two weeks later, on a Sunday, I get their prime rib sandwich, and receive a huge plate piled with fat and gristle on a bun. It was actively disgusting. I give Clyde’s a huge positive because it is clear that they try to make a lot of food from scratch and they have some consistent successes. Their onion rings are great(if you are into the giant, breaded type of onion rings) as is their cheesy shrimp dip with pita chips. But I wonder if their menu is just too big. It must be hard for the kitchen — of a sports bar in Sioux City — to juggle all those dishes. The net result is one day I get a burger or Korean pizza and love them, and then the next week I order wings and they come out about five degrees above completely raw. The service is also inconsistent. Three weeks ago I watched a game on Sunday, and my server was just lovely. Helpful, responsive, and kept close watch on my table for three hours. The next weekend, the exact opposite. I walked in at three o’clock. There was one group of about eight guys watching a particular game. Otherwise the restaurant area was empty. I asked if one of the TV’s could be turned to the game I wanted. It took about fifteen minutes for that to happen. Another fan, who I did not know, asked for the table next to mine to watch the same game.(Now there were a total of ten people in the dinning room.) Fifteen minutes later they changed all the games on the TV — for no apparent reason — and we had switch tables. A few minutes later they did the same thing again. The fellow fan, who I did not know, got so frustrated that he asked the waitress, who totally blew him off. The waitress then left the floor and did not return for over twenty minutes.(I kept track because I was waiting to order some food.) When she finally turned back up there was no apology or acknowledgement that she had disappeared for as long as many customers stay in a restaurant. Overall, I have had visits to Clyde’s which alone would rate a five star review. But, I have also had visits, such as that last Sunday visit, which would rate a one star review. Averaged out, I am giving Clyde’s a three star review, rounding up because it is clear the kitchen tries to make the food in-house.

The food here is wonderful. I have never ordered anything I didn’t enjoy. The chicken Cubano is one of my favorites. My family decided to go for Mother’s Day this year and the brunch was phenomenal! They are very family friendly and they have clean restrooms(which is always important).

I have eaten at clydes once and yes I will be a return customer. It’s not a fancy restaurant it’s very reasonable priced family restaurant. My waitress was very nice she did a great job, I would give her a shout out but can’t remember her name. The food was above average, I had the prime rid sandwich with fries. The sandwich was great I didn’t care for the fries to much. My wife had a Hamburger it was good, but it’s hard mess up a Hamburger

After moving to Sioux City, we kind of avoided this place because of the reviews, and some locals told us the food wasn’t good and overpriced. Add to that we’ve never seen very many cars in the parking lot, and it wasn’t on our short list to eat at. Until last night — when we wanted to try the new indian place by Walmart, but they were closed, so we decided to give Clyde’s a try. I should note that a lot of Unilocal reviews are about the service, not the food. We got there on a Monday night around 5:30, and we were the only people in the dining room area, so service wasn’t a problem — i thought :) I was impressed with the menu — lots of stuff I want to try! And this could be a problem with this market — local diners seem to prefer very traditional foods/flavors, and this stuff has a little(but not too much) flair. I ordered the Korean BBQ Flatbread pizza and my husband ordered the Steakhouse Burger(burger patty AND prime rib! Right up his alley). Monday is mexican night there, so they brought out a tray of chips and salsa. Chips were room temp and slightly stale, but the salsa was pretty good — nice and smoky and perfect amount of heat. The steakhouse burger was HUGE. As in, my very hungry, very German husband didn’t finish the burger OR the fries. He really liked it. When she gave me my pizza, my first impression was that it was really big and i was going to be taking a LOT home. But it looked amazing(I posted a pic to my check in) — lots of chicken, cheese, onion straws and really good bbq/onion base. It tasted great, too. I took quite a bit home, and while reheating some for lunch today, I was wondering what exactly made this pizza«korean»…and it hit me, that they didn’t give me what i ordered. This was the BBQ Chicken pizza — bacon, bbq chicken, onion straws. The Korean BBQ Pizza is supposed to be beef, among other things. So, i will definitely go back, because i want to try the korean BBQ pizza next time :) But I think a fair review is that the food is really good(and priced appropriately — think applebees or red robin, which the locals seem to love, but Clyde’s food is better), but don’t expect the best service. And maybe pay more attention to the food they bring you than I did LOL

My group showed up for a late lunch with limited time today… we mentioned our dilemma and they came through in a big way. Thanks for the quick service, and great food. I’ll mention what we had: Pasta Carbonara(two of us) Stellar, but rich Lasagna soup(different and tasty… only added pepper to make perfect) Kids chicken strips and fries(chicken great, fries awesome) Three wedge salads…(very fresh/good) Potato skin appetizer…(very tasty with right amount of cheese and bacon, etc.) This place is a gem, and we will frequent much more often. Thumbs way up!!!

Went to Sioux City with a colleague on business and asked for a local place to eat. Was informed to try Clyde’s as they had good food. The service was okay, nothing special. Our waitress really wasn’t knowledgeable on the menu or drinks. Was not sure what kind of draft or cider beer they had. I ordered the herb crusted prime rib, bacon wrapped asparagus and fries. Also ordered the wedge salad. The prime rib was not herb crusted(it had no crust) and was mediocre at best. The asparagus was just greasy and bla, french fries are french fries and the wedge salad with blue cheese was a quarter lettuce, some bacon bits, couple of cherry tomato half’s and a bland blue cheese dressing(more dressing then blue cheese). My colleague had the Ahi Tuna medium rare. I am not even going to waste my time on that review. But then again, tuna in the middle of the country, maybe that was our mistake! The only bright spot was the bartender. She was funny and really tried to look after us. I wish I had ordered the bread pudding!!!

Best burgers in Sioux City! Great quality meat, you can get it medium if you want, juicy and delicious! Good selection of specialty burgers or you can customize with thick bacon, grilled onions, even a fried egg. Great happy hour during the week, half price appetizers and they have like 12 appetizers, wife and I have made a meal just out of apps, cool«street» tacos with avocado or burger sliders are great choices. Wedge salad with blue cheese and bacon is a winner too.

Big negative here as well. I walked in on a Saturday night around 6:45 and the place was a third to half full. Was seated and given menus and after 10 minutes, no one came by to take our order or offer us beverages. During this 10 minute period, I looked around and noticed several servers standing around joking with one another and not looking after their tables. Needless to say, my group and I got up and left. Obviously this place is definitely mis managed.

I really had high hopes for Clyde’s. I will definitely try it again sometime soon, but my experience wasn’t great. The service is very kind, quick, and knowledgeable. The menu offerings look fantastic, and offer some unique items. I love to try new stuff, so I was excited. We were very disappointed when eating though. Our prime rib tasted very bland, and tasted like it was boiled in water. The mashed potatoes were a sticky consistency with a sweet, whipped cream flavor. The bacon wrapped asparagus was something different, and very good! We also loved their wedge salads before the entrée… their homemade dressings are yummy! Check out my blog review at !

Hmmm… I think we will try it again. The service was great; fast and polite. The atmosphere — nonexistant. The salad was really good and the main course was not so good. Everything was homemade but we had the chicken marsala and it was super sweet. I have never had sweet marsala and I really didn’t like it. Yet, I felt potential and will probably five it another chance.
