What a great little neighborhood pizza place. I was biking on the Farmington valley bike trail and I saw their sign. Pizza by the slice wings salads subs gyros hot dogs wraps etc. there seems to be something for everyone here. Everything seems fresh and as if they pay attention to detail. Food came out fast and hot out of the oven. Servers where friendly and helpful. I heard them call someone sweetie and mean it.

Route 10 Pizza has recently changed ownership and it makes a big difference. The previous owners(when I wrote my original review) seemed disinterested in their business, watching TV from behind the counter, making lousy grub. The NEW owners are a young couple that are really trying to make Route 10 Pizza a great place for simple lunches and dinner fare, and this effort shows. Tonight I used them to cater an event at my place of business and my guests made good comments about the pizza and wings. We ordered a cheese pizza, the sausage specialty pie and the meat lovers pizza. All 3 were great. Route 10 Pizza has gone from a place that I wouldn’t touch with a 10-foot pole, to a place that I will definitely think of for a convenient tasty lunch or a simple yummy pizza.

New ownership and a new expanded menu. The two brothers(nice guys, I used to shoot the breeze about the NY Giants with them) have sold the business to the folks that own Gino’s Pizza in the Copaco Plaza in Bloomfield. But because the old Route 10 name was so well known(in the words of the new owner) they decided to keep the name intact. What they did change was the menu– and they changed it for the better. It’s more like a diner now. They offer 21 kinds of pizza: small($ 7 to $ 11), medium($ 9 to $ 15), and large($ 12 to $ 19). and party size too. Calzones also come in 3 sizes. All kinds of salads, wraps, hot dogs, triple decker sandwiches, burgers, gyros, wings, pasta, fried seafood, fried chicken, sub sndwiches, specialty sandwiches, pub-like appetizers, and 15 lunch specials with fries or chips, and a drink for $ 7 or $ 8 bucks. The young lady(Zoe) that served me the Chef Salad I ordered for lunch was very pleasant. She reminded me that they deliver and put in a plug for the good deal with the lunch specials. My Chef salad was very good– ice cold fresh lettuce, cuke slices, green peppers, mozz cheese, grape tomatoes, diced deli ham and turkey. Oddly –no onions? I got the large for $ 10 and it came with a small square of garlic bread that was gone in 2 bites. That’s the only suggestion I have for them –maybe one square for a small salad and 2 squares for a large?. It was nicely packaged to go with 2 dressing packets, salt/pepper, and utensils. I enjoyed the new Route 10 a lot. Good luck, guys !!

Now I fail to understand why you have to bring cash to this place for payment. True, every time I went before, including the last year or so, I had to either pay in cash or with a check, which was my saving grace, given my husband and I don’t carry much cash lately, BUT.. .there’s now a credit card decal in the window. Did anyone miss this one, unless it’s relatively new since they posted their reviews? In any case, we did enjoy our pizza when we had it there, and I love how they did the sausage, baked on there in little sausage balls rather than cut and crisped like bacon strips. Spinach which my husband got on his half of pizza was good too, but the food seemed to be expensive for the size of pizza we got. Given everything is relative, it could have been a small size large we got. We just believed it to be more what one would deem medium is all. But it was good.

Not sure about all these great calzone reviews … I had a bad experience with my order. I simply wanted a cheese calzone which anywhere else comes stuffed with ricotta and mozzarella however there was no ricotta in my calzone. Weird! Sauce wasn’t anything to write home about either. The place was also dead when I went in and the kitchen was spotless leading me to believe they don’t get much business. Also make sure you have cash.

One of the best calzones I’ve ever had. I love how they give you tons of sauce with it. Convenient location and very quick service. The only downside is that they only take cash. I almost never carry cash so I often have to go to the ATM to visit this place.

Route 10 Pizza is one of the best lunch spots in town for quick take out. They have the best meatball subs and hot grinders that you can find. Friendly service, friendly and familiar atmosphere. Nothing fancy… but if you are one the go or have a quick luncheon meeting, it is perfection. Bring cash… and a hungry stomach. You can eat there or take out.
