Chicken burrito is so good. Have to get it with cheese and sour cream. It’s so moist. It tastes like they put some of the chicken juices in it. The marinated chicken plate is hubby’s favorite and the simple looking pulverized salsa is just salty and spicy enough. Damn good.

When do you go to a Mexican restaurant and there’s no tacos, but we still gave this place a shot. Service was fast and friendly. Prices were reasonable. I got the tri tip with bean’s salsa and tortillas. The meat was good, but felt the plate was missing something. My wife got the chicken burrito and said it was ok. They do charge $ 1 for refills. Our total was $ 24 for tri tip plate, chicken burrito, bean and cheese burrito, side of rice and a medium and large drink.

This restaurant has a sister place in Moorpark(also on Los Angeles Avenue). It’s just as delicious as this one. I have never tasted tri-tip or chicken quite like this, and I don’t think I ever will. My dad gets the combo chicken plate which comes with a modest side of beans and some salsa which tastes like its home made. I’m a fan of the tri-tip plate. I don’t know how they manage to make their tri-tip so juicy and delicious and flavorful, or how the chicken gets its brilliant orange color and fantastic taste, but somehow they do, and every bite is delicious. Everyone says that the burritos here are to die for, but I’m not really a burrito fan(unless it’s breakfast style) so I can’t speak to that. There are also vegetarian options for those who do not eat meat. The place is very cozy and has plenty of booths and tables, with some patio seating outside under trees and more under covered umbrellas. The doors are always open so there’s a nice cross-breeze. The girl at the front is very nice, as is the gentleman with the moustache who took my order the last time I came in. One thing to remember if you come here-the sign on the outside says that it’s El Pollo Corona, when in reality its El Pollo Norteno. I clarified this with the girl at the checkout and she says that for some reason, she’s unable to change the name on the sign. Odd. I don’t pay attention to the sign anyways so it doesn’t matter to me, but the food is amazing and it’s very reasonably priced. My lunch for today came out to $ 6.00 with a drink. In short, go eat at El Pollo Norteno. It has delicious food at a delicious price.

Great food for a great deal! Chicken and tri tip are very tasty. I’ve bought chicken and tri tip from this place many, many times whenever I have guests over for sports games etc, when I don’t have time to cook or prepare anything. Everybody loves it People are very very nice.

We shared tri tip nachos and the combo plate. The best f’in nachos of my life and best f’in chicken we have ever had. Nachos were basic– meat, chips, cheese, sour cream and a delicious sauce. Somehow it just worked well. Truly amazing. The combo plate was also amazing, chicken was juicy and flavorful. I mean it’s just chicken but somehow so yummy. We can’t stop thinking about it. Tri tip was amazing– can’t decide which we liked more. El pollo loco can’t touch this.

Love this place! Gets you out of the same old thing. The Tri– Tip is amazing and the chicken is even better! Always fresh off the fire and quick service. Place is small, what I like to call a «find».

You must get their tri tip burrito. It is a burrito bursting with tons of flavor. I got the chicken/tri tip plate and I enjoyed the tri tip More than the chicken. The salsa tasted bland.

El Pollo Norento /Carona is a place, like many of the other small local Mexican shops on LA, that I have driven past oodles of times and never tried. On my quest to try all of these places, I have been disappointed many times, but the excitement from enjoying Norento was overwhelming. Walking in the décor looks old and seating limited, but you can see the back grill with countless chickens cooking on it. The owner was sitting at the register and was super happy to great me with a smile. His demeanor actually made me feel good already. The menu is a bit limited. You can have tri-tip, chicken, or tri-tip and chicken. Fortunately these are two things that I love. I ended up getting a tri-tip burrito. The price(sub seven dollars after tax) was great as I mentally compared it to chipotle in my head. Everything tasted fresh and yummy. I liked the spicy salsa in the burrito, even though I did not enjoy my cup of salsa for the chips very much. The meat was good and burrito quite filling. It had the quality of a great burrito, but the speed and price of something much below it. I’ve actually gone back twice more in the last week before writing this review for another quick and easy burrito. This place has a new fan in me, and you should definitely give it a try!

Super tasty I always leave here happy. I’ve had both tri-tip and chicken burritos, as well as a chicken plate. I don’t really think of this place when I’m having a serious Mexican food, hole in the wall, kinda hankering. Not in a bad way, it just seems like a cleaner and fresher taste. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE the hole in the walls that add lard to their refried beans, and make you feel like you just came out of Mexico. But if you’re looking for that, don’t come here. Come here for delicious freshly cooked meat, whole beans, and rice rolled into a perfectly toasted tortilla… With a nice side of chips and salsa.

I wind up in Simi Valley every couple of months when I go to Laser Creations, and my running tradition now is hitting up this little Mexican/BBQ joint before I make the trek back home. Pollo Norteno is sort of a whimsical hybrid. Carne asada’s the old standby, which is most often made from flank steak, but tri tip? Interesting. I could smell the meat grilling from halfway down the block, so I popped in and got a burrito. The meat was unbelievably savory, smoky, tender, and just fantastic. They add a little rice and some nicely flavored white beans to the burrito. Their house«salsa»(it’s really just pico de gallo) isn’t spicy at all, but the onions, tomato, and cilantro add the perfect pop to the flavorful meat. The menu is very simple — pretty much just chicken and tri tip, either in plate form, taco form, or burrito form — but their specialty here is extremely well executed. The staff are very friendly and they seem to take a lot of pride in their product. Can’t say I blame them. Overall, if you find yourself in Simi Valley, I highly recommend this place.

We were in Simi Valley and volunteered to bring home dinner. I know almost nothing about the area and was depending on Unilocal when my nephew said he knew of a place. Well the variety on the menu wasn’t especially impressive, steak and chicken served in a couple different ways. But what they do do, they do well. The meat was good, the portions were generous and back home everyone’s happy. This was the place that sealed my nephew’s promotion. He is now my official, teenaged food scout. 2013 #32 /365
