I went to ashes a week ago and saw a flyer claiming $ 5 happy hour. Went back later that week and asked if it was happy hour. Wyatt told me it was $ 5 for happy hour and offered the glass hookah. Sat their with a friend for about an hour and really enjoyed how quiet it was to be able to catch up. After an hour we decided to leave. Even though the bowl wasn’t done, it was only $ 5, no biggie. We get to the register to check out and were charged $ 30. Apparently it’s only $ 5 for the bowl and $ 25 for the glass hookah!!! We weren’t told it was separate. Nor was it posted anywhere. The server was really nice and friendly. But I feel like I was tricked! I’ve never been to any hookah place that charges seperate for flavor and than the actual hookah. Don’t think I’ll go back, I guess I’ll stick to the hookah bars in the valley.

Best hookah in simi valley by far! The owner is very nice and very knowledgeable! He knows how to pack a great bowl and has a wide variety of brands and flavors! I’m a regular and he remembers how to pack my bowl everytime! Highly recommend for anyone that wants to try hookah or has been smoking since they were 5!

I like hookah bars and have been to quite a few. We go pretty often to a lot of various spots. I was NOT impressed at all with Ashes. I was actually upset I even went in there. Was hoping simis hookah scene had improved but it actually just got worse. Service was good(one guy) but all the ridiculous rules(5 or more people NEED two hookahs, can’t adjust your own hookah, need to buy drink, 15% gratuity automatic) made the experience BAD. I came happy and left upset. Would never go back and recommend avoiding this place and drive out to The Spot in Encino. You’ll save money and have a much better experience. Such a shame. Hopefully things change there because with the way it’s going, it won’t(or will end) for them.

Hookah in Simi has always been a subpar affair. KisKis was laughable, and I final mustered up to try Ashes, another local place, for some Hookah. When we got inside the vibe was a little odd. Just kinda dark and lonely. We found a couch and order two hookah’s knowing we had a good 90 minuets before they closed. They do close a bit early, but that is okay. We found our self sitting a bit too far away from each other and playing some travel board games. Red Hot pandora was on, and once we started smoking things seemed to get better. The hookah was nice, don’t get me wrong. We had friendly service, and enjoyed the tobacco. I just feel like we paid too much for it. Hookah is only half the battle though. While that was good, I really cant say that I enjoyed my time on their couches enjoying the lounge. Ultimately that was more important to me than the smoke. I will be trying someplace new when the next Hookah time rolls around.

5 stars for Ashes! The owner really knows his stuff and is really laid back. I didn’t know anything about hookah and he answered all my questions with the utmost knowledge. I absolutely recommend this place, you will not regret it!

I really like this place because it is a nice hole in the wall type of lounge. Very relaxing and enjoyable because they know how to adjust the hookah just right. And you get a lot of smoke without it hitting harsh. Jenga is such a great game to play in there. So competitive and keeps you relaxed. There’s just something about this lounge that has a laid back style. The owner is great and is personable. Keep it up Ashes!

I love this place very clean inside and the staff is very knowledgeable Wyatt is the owner and is very kind he is very enjoyable to talk to and is always on top of things when it comes to tending the coals and the bowls. Most hookah lounges bathrooms are very dirty and not maintained where as here it is very tidy and clean. The atmosphere is very chill and quiet no loud club music playing at most lounges it is more subtle. I enjoy coming here on my free time or with friends. This place is phenomenal I can’t think of anything negative to say about this place because there isn’t anything bad to say about this place. This place isn’t just a hookah lounge you can also come in and buy products and hookahs. They do card and any minors attempting to get in will be asked to leaved nicely. overall this is the best place to come and smoke if your in the area or looking to have a session! Great place and great staff and don’t forget to grab a card too they have a card where after a certain amount of stamps you can redeem it for a 15% discount!

Nice laid back hookah lounge. The owners are the employees and are incredibly nice and friendly. They’ve invested in quality hookah and shisha. The hookahs are hanging coal hookahs. This gives a smoother pull and allows coals to be adjusted hotter or cooler comparative to the shisha. Hookahs are placed in a wooden box base that keeps them stable and reduces chances of knocking it over. Prices are a tad high, but considering the quality it isn’t overpriced.

Great local spot for hookah. Cool atmosphere for groups. Big selection of hookah flavors and they will mix any flavors. I come here at least once a week to chill with friends. I definately recommend checking this place out.

My first time here was about two weeks ago. Never heard of it till we saw someone check into this place. So we decided to check it out and we liked it. For our standard of a hookah bar it’s something like this. It’s very nice and relaxing. The music weren’t so loud like other places. The server(well when we first went here there was just one) he was very nice and very social. While and even after he was done changing the charcoal he would talk with us with the general hookah conversation. Track back though, when we were trying to find the place, which was fairly easy, though I did I found it a little hidden just cause of the set up of the plaza. First expression of the place was a little empty but that was before we found out that the place has only been open for only 5 months which is typical, especially since it’s here at simi valley. When we first walked in, the lights was dancing around the room which was weird but you get use to it in and it may or may not add to the atmosphere. Which for us did, we found the lights to be very relaxing, ironically since the lights were moving a bit fast for it to be relaxing. The light in the place was perfect. It was bright enough and dark enough to actually be a «lounge». The lay out of the seats and décor was very nicely put. I loved seeing all the different hookah types. Which are all for sale and few of it that I personally want to take home with me(soon :P). Also, hookah flavors, charcoals and other accessories are for purchase as well. As for the hookah selection there are actually more than what you would think. It just seems smaller because each brand of hookah had only a selected few and they don’t mix their hookah(which is the reason why I’m giving them a four star). Also they present it in a small menu. But if they did mix all the flavor selections they have they’ll actually have even more hookah flavors. The server was very nice and kept the charcoal fresh. Oh, one of my pet-peeves at hookah places are the bathroom. And their bathroom is small but it was very very clean and, I guess the best way to describe it is, warm, like it’s a home bathroom. They don’t server food, which is fine but they do server can drinks which range between $ 1 — $ 2, which aren’t too shabby. Overall, I really enjoyed smoking here and recommend it and would/will come back as often as I can.

Really relaxing place … Came here last month for my birthday with a friend. It was empty when I walked in, so I was a little sketched, but the owner was really nice and funny. He really knew what he was doing. Wish they served alcohol, but oh well, hopefully soon enough. Set up is very nice. Couches are comfortable and you can actually talk and catch up with friends. It’s dark with cool lighting, a fish tank and a section where they sell tobacco. Hookah here is nicely priced! Will return.

So I finally went to ashes and am not sure yet if I was disappointed or pleasantly surprised. There seems to be all of 4 or 5 seating areas, very nice couches, coffee tables, a fake fireplace and a fish tank. Dark, sorta party atmosphere with lots of laser lights shining around the whole place, kinda made it feel like stars, and decent relaxed party music. You can also buy tobacco to take home there. Anyway, so it was just my friend and I who ended up going and when we got there we were seated quickly since it was empty except for some people in the back. He gave us a hookah menu and explained that drinks were in cans and bottles. soda, water etc. The lights were super distracting at first since we were trying to just relax and talk, but we got over it. The menu seemed very small. I am used to hookah places that have a large variety of flavors that you can mix and match and have exactly what you are craving. This place had about 10 flavors of starbuzz and another brand which i haven’t tried, and you couldn’t mix flavors. So 17 bucks is a little much for such small variety. He took our order, fixed up the hookah and started it for us then brought our cold cans of coke, which I think were within a dollar something range… So they kept charcoal good, ashed it for us frequently and the tobacco stayed fresh and didn’t burn up. They were very good with their hookahs and how to prepare and maintain it. I was actually very surprised. They did have wifi, however we had to enter this long password and he warned us it was very slow, which was fine I guess because any free wifi is better than no wifi. Finally we paid with our cards, half/half on two card and the server used his iPad and a credit card slider thing attached. All was good, he asked us if we wanted receipt and then we finished the last or our cokes and last puffs of hookah and left. All in all, I am a people watcher and because it was so dead, it was almost a little uncomfortable. However, the feeling of having a private server serve us and fix our hookah on command was pretty awesome. If you like a party atmosphere with lots of people, not your spot, however if you want a place to get good hookah and just sit and relax and talk with friends on comfy couches, it’s completely awesome. I would recommend it. The only bad part was constantly leaning over the table to use our tablets made our back hurt, so maybe a bar type seating along a wall with actual tables?
