Montanya Distillers

Montanya was a breath of fresh air after our greasy spoon dinner experience at Handlebars.
Well thought out architecture with great attention to detail creates a setting that’s close to perfect and left us wishing we had a place like this in Colorado Springs.
The cocktails all feature Montanya’s own rum. We particularly enjoyed the Green Eyed Snake, a ginger and jalepeno concoction that’s delightful. If you want to try a phenomenal sipping rum their Orro is delicious on the rocks.

I am absolutely dying to give the Montanya 5 stars and you should definitely go and try it out for yourself. As others have mentioned, the bar and especially the roof top seating are sensational.
We were told about the Palisade peach mojito special and jumped in to try it. Delicious would be an understatement. Loving it so much we thought, «another please». This time it was a completely different ‘animal’. The only word that came to mind was tart.
The gal that was working, wonderful. The guy that was working, not so much. Ask him to be nice and to mix a drink like she did and it’s 5’s all around.

AH! I loved this place. If only I could throw the San Juan mountains in my backyard and tuck Montanya Distillers in the valley below —- you’d find me writing these reviews from the rooftop bar with some sort of minty rum concoction in hand on the daily.
It’s no secret that Silverton is a one horse town, so when I found out they had added a distillery since my last visit and a stylish one at that, I couldn’t wait to give it a whirl. From the pretty wooden first floor bar to the open-​air and loungy bar on top, this place is cozy through and through. Our visit included a tapa lunch (available for $ 8-​$ 12) and a couple of drinks. Note: given the altitude, after two cocktails I felt like I had lead in my ass. Let’s just say I wasn’t ready to leave that plush couch on the roof.
The drinks are extremely delicious and the bartenders are willing to make up fun one-​off concoctions on the whim. He even let us sample something he was working on. Note: it is not possible to do a traditional distillery tasting at this location (located elsewhere) but the bartender happily let me try the rum when I asked. When in Rome you guys…

Loved the vibe of this place, completely different from the other «tourist’s hell» places in this small town. Dark wood accents, Pandora spitting from the «Amy Winehouse» station, this place is more like a cozy wine bar from some yuppie gentrified community; perfectly to my liking.
Rum is the theme for this place. I had several mojitos and other rum inspired drinks while beating my pals at the boardgames. The rum did takes its toll on my deftness during Jenga, cant win em all…
I tried the Cuban Stromboli, wasn’t a fan. The menu is a bit on the frou frou side, again to my liking, but nothing stood out as worth a try. Just pick something random to help slow your alcohol intake; you’re going to this place for the rum drinks and the vibe… then again not many decent paces to eat in town so may wanna make due with whats here.

This place has ambience and the roof top bar is awesome! You really appreciate where you are when you come here. The views are spectacular.
Okay…we are losers because we came here for a cold beer and a wine and to sit up on the roof top. Our beer was cold and a good Colorado beer and thank goodness they had wine… and at the time they only had Chardonnay… BINGO! So, we got our drinks and went right up to the roof top-​all to ourselves and it was fabulous.
This is a great little surprise in this little town.
Thank goodness I will be back very soon taking the train in and I will order a rum drink thanks to you Unilocalers… and your reviews. Now… I have a few days to decide which rum drink I will order. Don’t miss this place it’s got great ambience!
