I LOVESUSHIJIN! Do you know those places that you go because they feel like home, but even better, because you get to experience that comfort outside your house? This is that kind of place for me. The restaurant is so skinny and wooden that you feel like you’re in a sushi boat. I think with sushi more that any other type of cuisine, you’re inclined to worry about the quality and freshness of the ingredients(because it’s raw!). I’m never seriously worried about that at Sushi Jin, but I don’t come here because of the quality. I come here for the feelings it gives me! They play Nora Jones on the radio(I think they have like one CD they play over and over), and their TV sometimes shows the Jiro documentary — it’s just happy times. While the sushi isn’t top notch(they have things like a lobster lasagna roll and rolls named after zombies lol), I think this place does a good job of doing a lot of different things pretty well. The ramen, bulgoli don, appetizers, and sushi(Dancing Tuna is my fav roll) are all good. It’s good to come here if you can’t decide if it’s a ramen or sushi night.

We have found our new favorite sushi spot. I had the sushi combo with miso soup, salad, a spicy salmon roll and the fried wasabi tuna roll. The soup was delicious as was the salad… great dressing. The salmon roll was fantastic with very fresh salmon. The tuna roll tasted pretty good, just not my favorite. My husband ordered the spicy tuna roll which he loved and the murder roll. I can’t remember the full name, but it is the second spiciest roll that they have with shrimp tempura topped with blue crab. It was tasty, but boy was it spicy. My husband was sweating. I thought the spice level was high, but tolerable with water and beer on hand. I will say that I am leary to try the intestines of zombie roll since it is more spicy. We also had another roll that was the California roll topped with eel, but we didn’t like the combination and sauce. Overall, this was a great meal with fabulous service. We will be back very soon.

I really liked this place, they even made me a roll that I specially requested that was not on the menu.

Had a lovely dining experience here before heading to the Filmore. The edemamae was spiced with garlic and pepper yum! The sushi was impressive, including interesting«craft» rolls and fresh fish. Would return for ramen!

Gotta say that the sushi is good. But the service is horrible, unless you’re a clean cut white person. First time I went here, they wanted to kick me out, the person I met there told them I was with him and it’s okay. I thought is was a fluke until I went back today. I put in my order and was brushed aside, not offered a drink or anything, other people come in to order and retrieve their order and they get seated, offered tea. When I said something about it, I was then offered tea. Treat all your customers well and not just the white ones! Oh wait I am white, must be because I tour and have dreads. Food is good, but the service is horrible. I would avoid this place because customer service should be on the top of the list.

I came here with a group for some warm ramen after ice-skating at the local rink. I thought that the service was very friendly and attentive. The fully stocked bar was a pleasant surprise — their beer and sake selection fit our tastes well. And the food was satisfying. The chicken ramen was great. Not the best I’ve ever had, but one that can definitely make the taste buds happy. The broth was flavorful and aromatic, there was plenty of tender and juicy meat, and the nori was a nice touch. The dish had an overall fresh, light taste that wasn’t overpowering. However, I sometimes like that strong flavor in my ramen, so next time I go(and I will go whenever I find myself in downtown Silver Spring), I will probably try one of their spicy flavors.

Went there with my friend once on Saturday for lunch, had kimchi ramen and takoyaki, I would say it’s just so so… to be honest, below my expectation… but today went there again by myself, had the bento box it’s really good!!! Definitely recommend it!

Hands down our go to Sushi spot! Located conveniently in Downtown Silver Spring off Fenton Street, Sushi Jin never disappoints. The sushi is always fresh here and we love the service! All the waiters and chefs are so incredibly nice! The miso soup, pumpkin soup(omg so amazing!!) seasoned carrots, green salad and squid salad are excellent starters. My favorite is the bulgolgi don(sweet marinade, rice, bell peppers and beef served in a hot pot) burning love sushi(yummy sushi roll shaped in a heart with fire in the middle) salmon skin roll, Alaskan roll, Philly roll, Nigiri deluxe(a lot of fish for $ 23!) and Spicy Jin ramen just to name a few! There’s a big parking garage to the right of the restaurant so parking is normally fine:) Small restaurant that packs a punch!!:) Deff check Sushi Jin out!

Absolutely delicious, and a great dining experience! I had been looking for a good sushi place in the area, so when I found this one had such great reviews, I convinced my coworkers to try it out. We went at 5pm and our first impression was to turn around — it was completely empty, very small, and didn’t look super inviting. However, we decided to give it a shot(and I’m so glad we did) — turns out, it was empty because it had just opened! Boy did we feel silly when we figured that out. The restaurant filled up very quickly after that. It has great service — when we placed separate orders of sashimi/sushi, our waiter suggested we try the Sashimi platter/sampler instead. I’m so glad he did — it was delightful, offering different flavor combinations with some great quality fish that melted in my mouth A few other highlights: the burning love roll actually comes out burning; it’s both cool looking and great tasting. My coworker loved the lobster lasagna. The sushi burrito is actually like a burrito, which freaked us out a little, but it was a fun anomaly. To sum it up — give this place a try & you won’t be disappointed!

My husband and I went here one evening over the holidays and had a great experience. We were seated right away and both ordered a bowl of miso soup(hubby says he wishes they gave this to you like some other local joints, but nonetheless it was great). I was still preggo at the time so opted for the shrimp tempura roll and one of the specialties with fried sweet potato. Both were outstanding. If you are hesitant about sweet potato in your sushi– don’t be it was really great and not weird at all like I thought it would be. My husband got one of the specials(can’t remember the name), but it was huge and beautiful! He also said it tasted pretty good too! Overall, this is a place we will definitely return!

a sushi place were the décor and food are both superb. came here when my cousin suggested sushi and I remembered passing by this place a few time. we were seated close to the back near a colorful wall that had a saki display and showed japanese movies from a screen. I should of known when I ordered my lemonade that the place would be great. The lemonade came in a tall cool glass. I got the Volcano roll and the spicy salmon roll. The Volcano roll looked just as good as it tastes, i was so full afterwards. lets just say I can’t wait to go back.

Stopped by on a cold afternoon to heat up with some ramen. I went for the kimchi pork ramen, my friend ordered the chicken ramen, and we split a spicy tuna roll. The servers are very friendly, but seemed preoccupied — perhaps because it was close to the end of the lunch hour? Anyhow, our sushi was made quite quickly and the sushi chef rang the little bell signifying it was done. And then it sat. And we sat. And it sat. And we sat. I almost got up to get it myself(but that would be weird). Finally, someone happened to walk by, see it, and bring it by. Not well coordinated at all. That being said, the spicy tuna roll was good once it made it to the table. The ramens… I thought mine was ok — spicy, a little sour from the kimchi, decent noodles. But it was one-dimensional, with none of the flavor profile or complexity of Ren’s or other great ramen places. As for my friend’s chicken ramen. She said it was bland and sot sauce didn’t help. Ouch. I’d probably go back for the sushi, and try their extensive menu of special rolls(most of which have awesome, if completely uninformative, names). But I wouldn’t go back for ramen.

While roaming around in downtown Silver Spring, my friend and I came across Sushi Jin. I’m so happy we did. I have always been curious about Takoyaki, a ball-shaped snack that is stuffed with minced octopus. We ordered it and it was so delicious. Everything came together wonderfully, from the bonito flakes, sauce, and the thinly sliced cabbage they were served on. Umami indeed. Next was ramen. I ordered Chicken Kumamoto Ramen and my friend got the Kimchi Ramen, which she enjoyed. I liked the chicken ramen, the broth was very flavorful and I liked the texture of the ramen noodles. Our servers were very friendly and attentive. This place gets a solid 5 easily. :-)

YUMMM! I went to Sushi Jin for lunch and had a vegetarian bento box. It was delicious! It comes with miso soup, dumplings, salad, edamame, sushi rolls, and mashed pumpkin. It is pricey at $ 13, but I got two meals out of all the food. My favorite part of the bento box was definitely the pumpkin, and the sushi was probably my least favorite(although I still ate it, duh). My coworker ordered the salmon bento box and said the salmon was dry, and that he should have done the vegetarian. Just an FYI. :) Sushi Jin also has a couple of ramen and udon noodle soup options. The table next to us got them and they looked really good. The soup is next on my list of things to try. The service was a bit slow during lunch time(took about 1.5 hours), so schedule accordingly.

Located right across the street from the struggling City Place Mall, Sushi Jin is a jewel in the ever changing downtown Silver Spring. Place isn’t very wide but does have tables that go deep towards the back of the restaurant. They also have a decent sized sushi bar if you want to sit at the counter and watch the chefs work. Place is decorated heavily with cats and a random TV playing K-Pop music or random Japanese themed shows and movies. Menu is extensive, with a nice variety of your standard rolls you’d find at any sushi spot but also with a nice selection of specialty rolls that can only be found here. I kept it standard but they do have a roll made with bacon that wasn’t my favorite but provided an interesting flavor profile. Fish is fresh and roll size is a very large portion. Don’t over-order because the portion sizes will keep the average person more than full. Rolls were well balanced as well with nice rice to fish portion. They also didn’t overdo it with the sauce or creams. Excellent and well worth a visit, I’d see myself returning to try the non-sushi options as well but there is no real reason to do this as the sushi is well worth the visit alone.

I love this place!!! Seriously a hidden gem in Downtown Silver Spring that I recently discovered through a friend who highly recommended this place. I’ve already been there 3 Sunday’s in a row lol. Their ramen is amazing(tried the Spicy Jin Ramen and Kimchi ramen, both super delicious) and their sushi is so so good!!! Ramen noodles are cooked perfectly and their broth truly hits the spot, especially when it’s cold outside and you’re craving a nice hot bowl of soup. Spicy but not overbearing. For sushi I’ve tried the burning love roll, murderer, memoirs of geisha! Their sushi rolls all have unique and fun names:) it’s loaded with goodness… DROOOOL! ALSO, their service is unbelievably outstanding! The servers went above and beyond our expectations to ensure that we were being taken care of. Wow, my friends and I couldn’t stop commenting on their awesome service! I’m definitely planning on going back soon;)

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I have been going to Sushi Jin for nearly a year and I must say its one of my overall top places to eat in the DMV area. If you want to talk about authenticity, they have it. I can speak on this because I lived Japan for nearly 4 years. The service is great. They never make mistakes, and if in the rare event they do; they take accountability and make up for their actions. However, like I said this is very very very very rare. Woo(hope I spelled his name right) and Reed always have a happy face on during work hours. Everyone is great overall, and I haven’t even spoke on the food. The food is one of the best and reminds of my time spent in Japan. I’m so happy to be a regular here, and glad I found a spot where I can eat pretty much everyday if my stomach could handle it! Thanks Sushi Jin for existing! Haha

I have now visited Sushi Jin several times and I continue to be impressed. It has become my go-to sushi restaurant. I have yet to try a roll here that I didn’t like. I think my favorite so far is the Burning Love. On my first visit, I ordered the Intestines of Zombie Roll and the server asked, «Are you sure? It’s very spicy.» Well, I love spicy. This roll is officially the spiciest sushi roll I have ever eaten. So spicy that I’m not sure I ever need to eat it again.(Seriously, I think I had to drink 8 glasses of water just to finish the roll and then I was SO. FULL.) But you should try it just to say you’ve experienced it. They also have some delightful fusion-style dishes like the Sushijin burrito. It’s literally sushi ingredients rolled up like a burrito. I think I’m in love!
