I love this place. Over the years I’ve only come to love it more. Their crispy shrimp mountain is my favorite thing to get! And their new DC monument(II) was worth the $ 17. Their plates are really cute! And service is always good! I am always happy leaving this place.

In 5 years since my first review, I’ve kept going there almost every week.(I love sushi!) They keep adding new types of rolls, so there’s plenty to try. My favorite is the Love Roll. It has a mix of salmon, tuna, eel, and softshell crab — like a rainbow roll, but with crunch and tangy sauce. I’ve brought my mom there, and that’s her favorite too. Like other friends and family, she keeps wanting to come back! «Gee, I just ate there last night… but OK!» I’m a new fan of firecracker and dynamite rolls, which crank up the spiciness. If you really want to get spicy, there’s the Ikko Style, with a slice of jalopeno on top. Even that isn’t burn-you-mouth hot, though; it just adds a kick. One thing that distinguishes Ikko from other sushi places is that they use shredded crab on a lot of things, and they don’t skimp on it. For example, the fire mussels(spicy mussels on the half shell) have as much crab meat on them as mussel. By the way, there’s a public parking garage is available down the block at the NOAA building(near the giant hand statue). It’s also two blocks from Metro.

Sushi with a view!!! Yesss! If you are looking for a spot for an affordable date night dinner or weekend lunch, this is the place! Here’s why: 1. They’ll give you complimentary soup and salad for appertizer as well as fruit for desserts. You can order 2 entrees + 2 beers for about $ 40. 2. The restaurant is on the corner of an upscale apartment complex where there’s a little garden and cute fountain. It’s relaxing to sit outside, enjoy the garden, and of course the food! 3. The metro is right behind the building. There’s also a parking lot next door with free parking after 7. Silver Spring Movie theater is abt 5 mins walk away. Perfect for a dinner and movie(or vice versa) date! Now the food. Ramen is ok(not necessarily recommended) but their sushi and appertizer were great! I ordered the Chef special sushi and even though I love my bf, I fought with him for the last piece. Jk, he usually lets me win anw

My boyfriend and I have lived in downtown Silver Spring for about two years, and finally made it to Ikko this evening. I don’t know what took us so long! It’s been recommended to us by other friends in the neighborhood, and our expectations were exceeded. We shared two small rolls(spicy tuna and vegetable), and a larger specialty roll(the Silver Spring roll). Our sushi was outstanding and inventive, and it came with a small salad and miso soup as well. For dessert, we were treated with a small amount of fresh cantaloupe and watermelon. We can’t wait to be back. Best sushi in Silver Spring!

Went there for dinner on tonight. Service was great, restaurant clean and the rolls were fresh and really tasty! We had the firecracker, deluxe crab and yellow tail rolls, in addition to the DC Monument tower. Firecracker and DC Monument the best bites of the night. Note: I had the monument roll with the three sauces that come on top, on the side. I’m not a big fan of sushi with a lot of sauce.

This is the best sushi you can get in DC. It’s also the best value. I recently moved to Michigan after having lived in the DC area my entire life, and for the last few years, in downtown silver spring, only a couple blocks from Ikko. Needless to say, my boyfriend and I were regulars. The staff was always amazing and eager to accommodate us no matter what. The food was consistently excellent, and any time we are back in town we make a point of making at least one visit to Ikko. Trust me when I say that there is no decent sushi to be had in the whole state of Michigan, and the cravings I get for Ikko is so much that sometimes I really contemplate making the 8 hour drive just to have a taste of their Love Roll 2 or even just their delicious, melt in your mouth sashimi. Looking forward to paying Ikko one last visit tomorrow before heading for the airport!

Great little place! There was free parking pretty local to the building(ate after 7). The service was great. The one lady was very attentive and asked if we needed anything several times. Gave complementary appetizers and miso soup. Prices were good for the area. Food took a little longer than expected for not being super busy. Would definitely recommend going there.

We drove out here for a date night since we were craving sushi. It was busy and we had to wait a little while for a table. The staff was incredibly friendly and sat us as soon as a table opened up. We ordered four different rolls. Before the rolls came they served us complimentary edamame and miso soup. We got a standard tuna roll and salmon roll both of which were good. The best part was the two the specialty rolls, the ikko dragon roll and the DC monument roll. The monument roll was the most beautiful and impressive dish I’ve ever had at a sushi restaurant. We liked it so much that we took my parents the very next day. The staff remembered us and suggested we try the firecracker roll. It was delicious. This is my new favorite sushi place in the silver spring area.

First visit in some time and didn’t disappoint! The chef special roll was jaw drooping tasty, and the bi bin ban was also very good. Nice touches with surprisingly good miso soup, and then nice fruit pallet cleanser after.

Ikko Sushi is a Korean-owned sushi restaurant located off of the East-West Highway in Silver Spring. The menu is pretty extensive, offering appetizers(edamame, beef dumplings, shrimp tempura, broccoli yaki, etc.), salads(avocado salad, seaweed salad, etc.), sides(brown rice, salmon tataki, salmon carpaccio, etc.), dons, rice bowls, noodles(ramen, udon, etc.), teriyaki(chicken, galbi, spicy beef, etc.), maki rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. The hubs and I came here for an early dinner, and we were able to seat ourselves. We tried the following: the D.C. Monument Roll(with massago, stacked crab, lump crab, spicy tuna, and avocado with a chef’s special sauce on sushi rice; this looked pretty, as it was a layered ‘sushi’ tower — the crab was a bit overwhelming, but the avocado, the spicy tuna, and the perfectly-ripened avocado were all tasty — the sauces were also a nice blend if slightly spicy/sweet/salty, and I’d love to just dip everything in there!), a Firecracker Roll(shrimp tempura, avocado, and spicy crab with crunchies; this tasted super fresh, and the shrimp tempura was fried perfectly; the little panko crispies added a nice little texture to the rolls); and, a Chicken Teriyaki(chicken teriyaki with some steamed broccoli and cauliflower, all in a teriyaki sauce; I was a little apprehensive on this dish, as it didn’t look ‘visually appealing’ — however, this dish was a pleasant surprise! The chicken is all dark meat, but they were all tender, juicy, and cooked well; the sauce wasn’t too sweet, but was a perfect balance for the meat and the onions; this comes with a bowl of steamed rice, topped with black sesame seeds). Each order comes with a complimentary salad(with delicious sesame dressing), and miso soup(not watered down, and had a good amount of tofu cubes and seaweed within). At the end, we received a little plate of cantaloupe cubes and sliced oranges. Service was superb — we had Ms. Nui, who was super sweet, friendly, and efficient with our orders. The chefs at the sushi counter were also very welcoming and friendly. I’d love to come back and try out their other special rolls, the ramen, and the rice bowls. It’s been a while since I had really good maki rolls, so I’m glad I was able to check out Ikko! :D Parking is available in the public garage, where it’s metered. +delicious maki rolls: D +Chicken Teriyaki +ask for Ms. Nui: D +friendly staff: D +parking in the public garage — metered

I live across the street so I frequent this place whenever I’m in the mood for some sushi. It does take awhile to get seated, especially during peak hours as this place is relatively small. The servers have overall been very friendly. Once you order your food it does take awhile to get it, again especially during peak hours. However, all the rolls we’ve tried have been delicious and the prices are reasonable. They oftentimes give you free miso soup and a salad. Look on groupon for deals!

Currently a groupon out for this place and if I were you I would go grab it now. This sushi restaurant is probably one of the better ones in the Rockville and Silver Spring area. The atmosphere is cozy, but take heed. If you are loud the rest of the restaurant will know. The sushi is here is pretty good. The fish was flavorful and the rolls were creative. I know people say that sushi rolls are made with bits and pieces, but who cares as long as it tastes good right? Only downside to this place is you have to pay for parking in the area and it can be inconvenient depending on what time you go. As long as you are patient with the traffic you should be fine.

Ikko Sushi has a cozy and low-key ambiance. We made reservations ahead of time for a party of 4 and I’m glad we did. By the time we sat down and opened up our menus around 7pm the place started to fill up quickly with more patrons. The service is great! Our waiter was very attentive and courteous and the food came out in good time. The sprawling menu had a diverse, unique, and delicious spread of rolls that could satisfy anyone’s taste. The fish is fresh and the rolls are delicious and filling! My favorite of the night was the Love Roll which had fried soft-shell crab on the inside. Another thing I loved was how the restaurant and chefs paid homage to Maryland and Montgomery County by naming many of its specialty rolls after local spots in the community such as the Silver Spring Roll and the East-West Highway Roll(we got both of them! They are quite good). Other locally inspired rolls include the Baltimore Roll, Bennington Roll(the Bennington is a luxury apartment complex in Silver Spring), the Blair Roll(A local high school known for its rigorous Math and Science Magnet program), the DC Monument Roll, and the Redskins Roll. Little details like this inspire a Mom and Pop shop feel that adds a nice garnish to the dining experience. I would definitely come here again!

How do you hold a reunion between friends that had one point walked through the glitz and glamour of Tokyo? Eat sushi of course! Even if that means in Silver Spring, and I am beyond a fan! IKKO is a fantastic spot for locals wanting to enjoy some pretty good sushi. The restaurant is tucked away between some high estates but parking is readily accessible in the nearby lot. Our servers inside were always very sweet and did their best to share with us the restaurant’s recommended rolls. My first time here, we ordered the mega sushi boat which, which gave us a run for our money! Every piece of nigiri was delicious and there was a generous helping of rolls. This time around, we ordered the vegetable and meat dumplings, and three specialty rolls: Dynamite(with calamari), Chef’s Special, ad Rock N Roll. The Dynamite Roll was interesting but definitely overshadowed by the freshness of the Chef’s Special. Overall, very impressed with the quality of the sushi here! They take their time to make the presentation beautiful not just for your eyes, but for your taste buds as well. To end it off, we all got some slices of pineapple and orange. A healthy way to end a most satisfying meal.

This is a great casual spot for some good food. This place was not as expected. We ended up ordering four rolls and an appetizer. We ended up receiving a small order of edamame, miso soup, and salads, all for free! What a nice surprise. The servers were very nice, and the atmosphere was very casual. The Chef’s Special roll was by far the best! We’re excited to go back. We really enjoyed everything about this place.

SERVICE: we sat outside since it was such a nice day There was a large birthday party at the neighboring apartment building and the kids kept coming into our seated area. Can’t blame the resturant :/The young server was nice and attentive. She was in earshot when we needed something. FOOD: delish… * Chef’s special shrimp tempura avacado lump crab topped with eel and ell sauce * Regular shrimp tempura rolls and * California rolls DRINK: brewed green tea SOWHYNOT5STARS: more like 3.5 stars but there are no halfs… Presentation was pretty. The sushi was fresh and great but the sushi wrap was rather chewy. Whew! This resturant also fell short of 5 stars because of the parking situation. You’d either have to be a local or up for a little walk from your car. We parked in the Blair Commons/Giant parking lot and had to walk back around and up EastWest. Street parking outside resturant was limited to 5 metered spaces, all taken. It was a nice day out so we didn’t mind at all.

Street parking abounds in the area, some of it metered. The miso ramen has a heavy broth full of many goodies: button mushrooms, seaweed, overly firm fishcakes, long scallion cuts, decent noodles, half a hard-boiled egg with a touch of grey, onion, sesame seed, pork belly with tender skin. Togarashi on the side. Chirashi was sliced thick, moderately fresh quality over a conservatively seasoned layer of rice. Not a fan of the inclusion of gochujang. Service was very polite. I was no longer helped by my original server as soon as I had pointed out the eggshell in my broth. The rice cake portion of the green tea mochi was dehydrated like it was a little old. Canteloupe cunes, pineapple chunks, and an orange wedge with the cheque. I might come back one more time to try the chirashi deluxe or kalbi, but so far I don’t see myself recommending this place for sushi or ramen fiends.

Came here for Valentine’s Day to treat my girlfriend. It was kind of a spontaneous decision and perhaps one of the better ones I’ve ever made. Probably the best sushi rolls I’ve ever had. We ordered almost all of the special rolls their menu had to offer. There was no way we were gonna finish everything, but it all sounded so good I couldn’t choose just a few. Nonetheless we loved every bite. One particular roll had this white tuna that literally just melted in your mouth. Everything was just so fresh and absolutely delicious. The presentation was equally outstanding. The place itself is located in some kind of apartment residence or hotel building. Not a big restaurant, has a nice cozy feel to it. The servers are very accommodating and the service is nothing less of exceptional. I will definitely be back if I am ever in Silver Spring craving sushi.

I loved every moment at Ikko Sushi! And with the rain outside, the ambiance felt like a metro stop in a busy city. I went this past Saturday to use my groupon and although I didn’t make a reservation, my friend and I got seated within 20 minutes. Quite the small restaurant, but a full house and not a long wait. Once we were seated, our waitress provided us with wonderful service and made sure to check up on whether we were okay or not. 5 stars! We ordered the Love Roll 2 and the Rock & Roll special rolls and loved every bite of it. The sashimi and avocado on top of the Love Roll was very fresh and with the fried soft shell crab and eel wrapped within, it was like biting into a dark chocolate chip cookie that came straight out the oven. The sushi was also sliced perfectly. Similarly, the Rock & Roll was extremely tasty with both the eel sauce and spicy mayo sauce.(I will say that some people will argue some of the flavor is due to the abundant sauce) Regardless, with the shrimp tempura and spicy tuna wrapped within, it was like biting into your second dark chocolate chip cookie that came straight out the oven. Both were good. Bottom line, I appreciated their service and surprise complimentary salad with miso soup that made my day! While I can’t speak for their other food items, I wouldn’t be surprised if it were just as good. If I lived closer, I would visit more often. FYI. Their menu link below:
