Well-maintained grounds and landscaping. Most of the lower area is sports fields and courts and can get a bit noisy, but there’s also a nice quieter area of just trees and grass up toward Blair House. You’re still going to hear Georgia Ave and the metro — this is definitely an urban park. Plentiful benches scattered along the footpaths all over the park. Good spot for people-watching or reading in the grass if sports aren’t your thing.

Taking classes this semester at Montgomery College I spent time walking around this park to waste time. It’s a clean park and never felt like I was in any danger at the park because of the regular traffic on the groups. I like Lesly was thrilled to discover the tennis courts which usually seem to have lower usage so I can actually get some time to play.

I have no quibble with Blair Park, but now that I know they have well maintained tennis courts(not sure if they are lighted) and nearby parking, I might become a regular. No reservations required – just show up and play. The grounds are well maintained and the regular car and foot traffic ensures everything feels populated and safe. UPDATE – 8/10/10: Went back to play last night and the courts are indeed lit until 11pm!

Wow, you wont believe what happened! I passed by here yesterday and the park actually looked a lot nicer. Now, my first review was based off of coming here to chill(by myself because I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else seeing the crappy park) for about two weeks. Based off of those two weeks I made the decision that this park was a lost cause. But apparently, sometime within the past week, the park service planted new trees all around the park. The new trees came with new grass that filled up the patches and made everything look less brown and more green. Also, the grass was cut and the area behind the Blair house looked more like a field and less like a jungle. This park went from crappy to OK(2.5), but I still wouldn’t want to have a picnic here or anything. The major drawback is its proximity to loud Georgia Avenue. I wouldn’t mind playing some soccer or basketball here though.
