The food is normally good but over priced. This review is going to be harsh because they screwed up a very basic American Chinese soup…Egg drop! How can you screw up egg drop you ask? Make it taste like water and that’s what they sold me on 4÷19÷16. I wanted a large egg drop because I’m at home with pneumonia and can’t really keep much down. I sent my dad to pick it up and was horrified to find a bland bowl of water tasting noodles. I have had their soup before and was shocked that this is what they’re selling now. I called the restaurant to complain and the young lady answering the phone said she would tell the chef and blew me off. I can’t imagine who’s in the kitchen but they need to be fired for serving water noodles and trying to pass it off as egg drop soup!

I’ve been looking for a Chinese food restaurant in the local area. I’m recovering from a cold and was craving Chinese so I doesn’t to give Hunan. It’s location was ideal. It is in the same plaza as Giant grocery store(a few stores down). I did a pick up order via the Unilocal app ;-) I arrived and my order was waiting for me, still hot. I got the general tso chicken lunch combination. I only ate half so the portion is great. I’ll eat the rest for lunch. FYI they only give soy sauce in the bag so make sure you ask for duck sauce if you prefer it.

Great food, generous portions, fair prices. Really like the Kung Pao chicken. They always bring hot tea, orange slices and fortune cookies. Every time we’ve been there everyone seems very friendly and attentive.

Let me start off by saying just how much I have enjoyed the food from Hunan Manor. They have some talented chefs working from wonderful recipes. One of my favorites is their Hot & Spicy Crispy Beef. The texture is just about perfect and the heat level is fantastic. It’s such a shame that the restaurant us owned but such an unpleasant miser with poor customer service skills and no real understanding what it means to be in the hospitality/service industry. If not for the owner I would easily give them 4 stars. Last night I had the displeasure of speaking with ‘Emily’ as she identified herself when I called back to get her name after a shocking phone call regarding my order. I have primarily been a delivery customer so she has no idea that we order, or should I say ordered, from Hunan Manor 2 – 3 times every 3 weeks, orders that regularly reach $ 40 or more. I recognized her voice from a previous encounter the moment she called discuss a special request to which I will get in a moment. I had previously placed an online order for, among other items, 2 entrées. One was ordered with fried rice with an up-charge of $ 2.00 and the other was ordered with extra white rice, also a $ 2.00 up-charge. When our driver arrived he had with him NO white rice and 2 pints of fried rice. I called to complain and was told that it wasn’t her problem and that the cost was the same for each so why was I bothering her. Well, my girlfriend doesn’t like fried rice and adores white rice so it’s a big difference but she was unwilling to do a thing about it. I made a pot of rice on the spot and we a cold dinner 30 minutes later. I wrote it off as someone having a bad day and have been pleased with subsequent order since. Until tonight. I learned tonight that this fine example of «stepping over a dollar to pick up a dime» was the owner, a fact which compelled me to write this review so that Emily might understand the cost of her frugality. Tonight we ordered an appetizer of chicken lettuce wraps, two bowls of wonton soup and beef with peppers and onions. The lettuce wraps usually comes with so much chicken that the few pieces of lettuce that they send is woefully insufficient so I made a simple request. «Please send extra lettuce.» This is iceberg lettuce, people, $ 1.50-$ 2.00 per head. Retail. At the grocery store, not from a restaurant supplier. Instead of just sending a couple extra leafs of lettuce that could not possibly cost her a dime she called to ask me how many I wanted because they were 75 cents per leaf. When I replied in the understandable shock of such a rate her response was that«This is a restaurant», whatever that is supposed to mean. Of course it’s a restaurant. That’s why I ordered dinner. For the last time I might add. Emily — the absurd way in which you treat your customers will one day cost you your business. It has just cost you hundreds of dollars of my business per month, all because you felt justified in asking that I pay 75 cents for a leaf of iceberg lettuce. Was it worth a thousand dollars or more per year of my business?

Did the job as far as Chinese take out goes. Ordered the Hunan chicken lunch special and was satisfied. Food wasn’t spectacular or bad. Service was quick — waited less than 10 minutes.

We have eaten here in the restaurant many times. The décor is a bit dated, but it is very comfortable with large tables for my big family and smaller booths for a more quaint meal. Lunch specials are great. We really enjoy the vegetarian«chicken» options. My kids are always welcome, and the staff is always very kind. We have never had ANY issues with our food, with service, or anything. And they still give you hot tea for free, even a tea bag with takeout.

Excellent Chinese food in Silver Spring. Super polite delivery. I do not know what«Heather’s» issue is, but I think she may be suffering from MES. The dreaded millennial entitlement syndrome.

Worst customer service ever!!! I have NEVER experienced worst! I came home from working all day and just wanted to order delivery for dinner. I ordered an online order of beef lo mein, crab wontons, and sweet and sour chicken and waited for about an hour and 45 minutes for delivery. I only live a few minutes away. I called to inquire the status of my order and the lady on the phone told me it was already delivered and argued with me the fact that u had no food. After a minute I believe she realized my food was still there and said ok the driver is on the way and HUNGUP on me! I called back and asked if I was meant to be placed on hold and she told me no that«I told you the driver is on the way». I waited another 10 – 15 minutes and called back again to just cancel it because I had waited long enough. She simply said«ok» and HUNGUP on me again!!! I couldn’t believe it so I called again and was sent to voicemail several times. She finally answered and she said«well I had to call the driver and had other things to do so…» That is NOT how you treat customers who are spending money in your establishment. I will never order from this company again and will tell all my friends not to as well.

This is my favorite Chinese food place in the area! The Moo Shu Pork is amazing and I always order some dumplings. My boyfriend always orders the egg rolls and either fried rice or beef lo mein. They have great portions of food, and the employees are always very kind when we walk in for pick up. Never a hassle, and always there when we don’t feel like cooking.

It’s not that great. Dark inside, the food is overly salty, chicken was burned. This place used to be good in the 90’s but not anymore. Sorry but I won’t be back. I will NOT be returning to this place. It really used to be better. If you want good Chinese food, go to Beltsville, MD

So, it’s dark, dreary, shabby, but prices are reasonable and their General Tso’s chicken and beef and broccoli are pretty good.

This has to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. There orange chicken is very good. I like their orange chicken because it’s not breaded. Their food also seems to be well prepared.

It’s a shame restaurants don’t put as much pride into their staff, as they do their menu/quality of their food. Good News: They have a Vegetarian Meat Section :-) I had the pleasure of having their Orange(Vegetarian) Chix w/Brown Rice, and Hot and Sour soup as an appetizer. I’ve had better soup. Too heavy of a broth, in my opinion. The crunchy noodles seemed stale, too. However, the Orange(Vegetarian) Chix wasn’t bad at all. It still had the flavor of the Orange sauce, and the crispy outside to distract you from the fact that you were eating healthy veggie protein. Now, I’m hoping they have enough common sense to use seperate cookware for the veggie vs. the real stuff… we’ll just just say they do for shit’s an’ giggles. Bad News: Staff sucks major doo-doo! I was one of SIX ppl in that spot, and that little 4’2″ hussey took all of about 10 – 15 mins to approach my table. Now, I may have given her the benefit of the doubt since she may not have seen me sit down(the booths are really high) However, once she served me she never came back to chk on me, and it wasn’t until I went to the Manager did I get my chk. Then, she tried to offer me a Fortune Cookie… twice! Take it form a person who’s been in the restaurant industry(waaaaay too long) If you’re going to neglect your table(s), make sure they CANNOT see you running your mouth while pretending to look busy rolling silverware!!! *dumb-ass*

Wednesday night, maybe 1⁄3 full, and four of us for dinner. Not much to say except that the food was way better than we expected for a strip mall joint named Hunan Manor. Top Dog — Crispy Beef — You know how orange chicken is so good because it is salty, sweet, and savory with a touch of the tangy? This beef was like that. Small, salty strips of beef with a savory and almost candy-like coating. Not candied like Starburst or MnMs, but like ‘candied pecans’ candied. Really great with the flavors of our chicken dish as well. I’m putting it first because it was a completely new kind of food for me. Contender — Crab rangoons — Cheese? Check. Pastry? Check. Classy seafood? Check. Made into a finger food? Check. Dipping sauce? Check. Can’t go wrong. Well, I suppose if you are allergic to cheese, crab, or wonderful flavors, it could go wrong. Surprising — Veggie rolls — Basically a Chinese version of samosas(tell me how they’re different!?), veggie rolls usually disappoint me, but this one was delicious. Not to… sauerkrauty? Is that a word? That tangy, fermented deal that veggie rolls usually have was gone, and so I liked it. OR, the sauce might have just overpowered that flavor. Disappointing — I always forget how hot the green tea is and burn my tongue. Dangit. The General Tsang’s Chicken was pretty good as well, just your typical veggie/meat Chinese dish that has that salty spicy flavor. Good job Hunan Manor.

Shrimp w garlic sauce, Hunan chicken You know, I liked the décor, but don’t remember too much else about the place. To be respectful, I’m going to post this as an unfinished review till we go back.
