Husband was already missing his favorite summer brew, which had quickly disappeared from Montgomery County liquor store shelves(sounds like a «First World Problems» entry). But then he thought to check with Elbe’s and they came through for him. Yes, they had a fairly good supply of Old Bay still in stock. I usually wait in the car while he runs in as the store is a bit cramped. I don’t drink beer but husband claims they always have a great selection and their prices are reasonable. Also it appears the store is family owned and run and the staff is always helpful. Access for those with physical disabilities might be a problem as the main entrance is up a flight of stairs, so I would call first if I needed assistance with that.

Good prices and great selection. I’m never worried about getting any beer past it’s «best taste by» date(unlike some other places I know in the area). Employees are helpful here and I get asked at least once every time I stop by if I need help finding anything.

Excellent selection of quality beer and wine right next to the cheap stuff on the same shelf. This place is a no-nonsense small locally-owned beer/wine store with small but adequate parking and a great location. Don’t mind the occasionally grumpy staff — be nice to them, and they will return the smile.

The selection in general here is amazing for Montgomery County. The kegs are what really drew us here for our annual block party. They make it easy to order and are extremely flexible and friendly. Gotta love local, family owned businesses!

I came to Elbe’s to get kegs for our campground wedding. I *thought* I’d end up at a big box/big booze store, but the prices were actually better at Elbe’s for all the kegs we wanted. Which is awesome, because Elbe’s is also a great local business I’m pleased to support! If you’re ordering well in advance, the selection of kegs is really extensive(cider! many kinds of dogfishhead!) And the owners are helpful and responsive about getting prices and confirming availability. I do wish keg prices were available online, but I understand why that’d be a pain to execute. Now that I know how easy it is to get a keg of something I actually enjoy drinking, we’ll definitely be back to Elbe’s for our next shindig!

After eating at IHop(worst mistake of my life), we needed to buy beer, so we came to this place because it was literally 100 feet from IHop. You enter through this stairs into this hall way filled with beer advertisements. The shop is so tiny and cramped. Glad I didn’t have a fear of tight spaces or anything. Anyways, we picked up a pack of bud light and the box starts LEAKING? Umm what?! We quickly put that down. We thought it could have been ice melting but who knows… we ended up buying this other brand of beer and it had a past expiration date on the box. Why are you selling expired beer? Maybe I’m just too strict on following expiration dates. Anyways, I don’t think I would come here by myself but they do have good selection of everything, but its just kind of shady and as a girl I would not go here by myself.

I love Elbe’s! They have a great selection of beer and wine, the staff are always very nice and knowledgable, there is just enough parking to get a space every time, and they are a Wheaton institution. I’d much rather spend my hard earned bucks here to get great quality and service instead of wasting my time with the other places in the area(unless I desperately need rum, but that’s another story).

They may not have the best-priced kegs in town, but I’ve been driving past them in the heart of Wheaton for a lifetime without realizing — until today — that their selection(beer, wine, liquor) is totally solid. They’re super friendly and helpful, and have more knowledge than you’ll ever need about the use of dry ice for both party punch bowls and mass power outages.

Been coming to Elbe’s since birth and the place does not change. The same charm I remember from back then is still in play today. The kegs are the best priced and coldest in town and the pricing on everything is beyond reasonabile. The owners are always on hand for some great conversation and to make you feel good about patronizing their store.

my new favorite beer store in the region. GREAT parking, a really good selection, ice cold beer at pretty reasonable prices. PLUS– discounts on imports and micro-brews mid week. the store is clean and not littered with sweaty stinky keno and lottery players. I’ll never frequent another beer store as long as I live here. it took me 4 years to go in, but after reading another review on here about the parking I had to give it a go. SOGLAD I DID.

Elbe’s is a pretty strong little beer and wine store. It has a hidden little parking pad in the back too, which is nice on University Blvd W where parking can be a real dagger. Beer selection is pretty good, but the best thing is their prices– Elbe’s sells some craft beers for +/-$ 1 a bottle. Thats a steal compared to some of the previous Bethesda pricing I was getting gouged on. Last night for example I bought a 12 pack of the Sam winter seasonals(damn you Sam Adams, the only way I can get Old Fezziwig Ale), as well as a 6 pack of Harpoon Winter Warmer. 18(good!) beers only hit me up for 22 beans. Thats fair pricing. On my previous visit I picked up a bottle of Sierra Harvest for 4.99, and the owner switched me to a cold one he had in the back. The owner seems like a decent guy too.

I was at Elbe’s searching for Dogfishhead 120, which I had heard rumor they carry. The rumor was correct: they do carry it. However, they only get a limited supply, and run out quickly, so my trip was in vain. They will have more sometime in February. Otherwise, Elbe’s is a decent beer/wine store. Nothing really amazing/obscure, but lots of stock, a lot of cold beer, and a wide array of kegs.
