I have been going to this restaurant since before it was even Don Ramon. Ever since it was taken over by the new owners, the food has gotten much better! The service is good, everyone is friendly, and the food always comes out hot. I love their enchilladas and the chimichanga. Margaritas are also delicious!

After my last review, I was contacted by the owner, who asked me to give them another try. I was happy to oblige as the food was good the first go around. This time, the whole family went. We all agreed the food was tasty. The music was still too loud and the volume fluctuated throughout our meal, but it was at least Mexican music this time. Another strange thing was that the lighting dimmed and then got brighter multiple times. We were one of only two parties dining, but the bar area was crowded. Our server spoke to us over a chest high wall that separated two dining sections, instead of coming around to stand next to our table, which was unusual. Honestly, I can’t quite figure this place out. The food is good, but there are so many little things that are peculiar. I think this restaurant has an identity crisis. If they want to be the neighborhood bar, then get rid of the white tablecloths, make it more casual, add a couple more tvs. If they want to be an upscale restaurant, train the servers better, lose the tvs and the music. Trying to be both isn’t working.

This restaurant has a spacious interior with about 10 – 12 belly-up bar stools and a large dining area with a seating capacity of at least 50. I recommend sitting at the bar over the dining area because there are copious bar-only specials including specialty cocktails for less than $ 5 as well as $ 2 tacos!(The full dining area menu costs more than I’d like to spend.) also, unlimited chips & homemade salsa! I’ve been here twice and have enjoyed the food — stuffed peppers, cheese and chicken enchiladas, guacamole, taco salad, and others. Everything is tasty, presented well, and in generous portion. The bartenders are friendly and attentive, which is a plus. The ambiance includes large flat-screen TVs, modest décor, and a well-lit interior. Overall, four stars instead of five because it has been generally empty inside, and I prefer a more lively atmosphere, which can be a plus or minus depending on one’s mood! Also, the food is very good but not earth-shatteringly amazing.

Visited there for the first time for late dinner. we weren’t quite sure whether to go in or not. Funny smell greets you when you walk in. Can’t figure out whether it was cleaning solution or musty smell or combination of both. Music was so loud!!! We decided to go in. Food was good. Margaritas we had was good as well… And they have karaōke… fun but again just way way too loud! My husband and I were practically(actually we were!!) yelling at each other across the table! Would have given it a higher rating if it wasn’t for the loudness… I think I was deaf by the time I left the place.

I was in the neighborhood feeling peckish and thought I’d stop by Harry’s, a favorite when I used to work just down the road. Harry doesn’t live here any more, but Ramon has maintained the ambiance, slightly upscale(fabric tablecloths and napkins). Having enjoyed many meals paid for with pesos, I decided to give it a try, though I almost bolted because of the LOUD mariachi music. I think that’s only weekend evenings. Another disclaimer: if I seem to be picking nits, it’s frustration that they came pretty close to greatness. Warm greeting, cordial service. Chips were only OK, unsalted and lacking that authentic hint of calcium hydroxide, but also greaseless and made from coarse yellow corn. The salsa was just the way I like it, with some body, finely minced tomatillo, complex seasoning, and a solid picante kick, Mexico City style. I ordered the trout, and it was cooked just to flakiness with a sauce that complimented but did not overwhelm the fish, but the skin was soft instead of crisp as is customary for that dish. White rice had a nice texture and flavor. The salad was mostly iceberg with a generic dressing, but had some heart of palm added. It there is one thing that will bring me back for sure, it’s the Cuban style black beans. thick, al dente, complexly seasoned. I have not had any that good since a hole in the wall family place I habituated in my college days, forty years ago, and so delicious that the memory remains. If Abuela [Grandma] Baez isn’t in the kitchen, her recipe is. They have a pretty extensive menu, with various meat, seafood, and chicken dishes, as well as the tortilla based border style stuff that most gringos think of as Mexican. Solid four **** that makes me hope they can tweak a few things and get to five.

We wanted Mexican and came here. They changed the name, but we gave it a shot. Sitting outside on the back porch on a sunny breezy day was great! Music was ethic and the food was better than most Tex-Mex fare around. Portions were good(took some home), but it was pricey for lunch. Service was slow. If they did not want to serve in the mid-afternoon in the back, they should not have seated us there. We would try it again.

3÷10… could make better food at home. Very plain and not much flavor. Very empty and still poor service. Out of wine, food took long, queso was awful. Wanted to check it out since very close but will not be going back again.

Went here with my family and a friend. We all enjoyed the food and loved the music. I always worry about taking my toddler and newborn to restaurants but this place was great. They brought an extra plate so we could serve an enchilada to my toddler a little at a time. Great service! We had the enchilada, chimichanga, and steal fajitas, ask excellent. The food reminded me of a more home style version of Chevy’s. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly the food was prepared.

Wow. What a surprise. We came here on a whim and were blown away. The Service was great, I got the ensalada de frutas drink — out of this world, a mango and orange drink with fresh fruit pieces. My husband got the beef tongue tacos(tacos al carbòn) and he said it was the best tongue he had ever had, very tender. My dish was the shrimp in tomato sauce with sautéed onions and peppers(camarones entomatados) — wow! All the ingredients were very high quality. We also thought it was cool to bring nice rolls instead of the typical chips and salsa, but those are available. Come here for an awesome Mediterranean/Central American fusion experience. It was so good we sprung for dessert.

First impression: This place looks like it was redesigned by the TV show«Bar Rescue». We used to come here when it was a Mexican restaurant and we liked it. Now it’s some generic Jon Taffer creation. The booths are uncomfortable, they are using cloth napkins so that explains the over pricing. The portions are small. We had ants on our table! The staff are very pleasant. I don’t wish these folks any ill will I just think they should stick with what they do best and that is mexican. Fine tune the Mexican gig.
