Wow! This is totally becoming my favorite dessert spot. My kids like their vanilla and the malt shakes are better than Johnny Rockets! Yes I said it. The kids who run this place are very friendly, and will do anything to make this your best dairy dessert experience. They are great sales people not sure if they were trained that way or they are just great kids but as a sales trainer I can spot the skills from a mile away. It’s no surprise the tip jars are large and FULL! Keep up the good work guys. You make the ice cream taste even better with the great service.

Always so good. We love going here. We always get a waffle cone filled with anything. It’s all good. Just bring your cash, they don’t take credit cards.

took the kids there after reading reviews here & was not disappointed. All the ice cream is homemade which I love… less garbage in it! Keep in mind it is cash only so be prepared for that.

Abbott’s Frozen Custard is way better than ice cream. The Chocolate Almond is Heaven on Earth!

The place is a well hidden treasure in Shrub oak. There are plenty of flavors and delights to choose from. The good news is it doesn’t sit on you either. I highly recommend if in Shrub Oak stop by.

I read a review and couldn’t wait to try this place. I usually try something out of the ordinary when I know the flavors are homemade, but the only thing that interested me today was chocolate. So I «forced» myself(yeah, right. If you believe that…) to eat a hot fudge sundae with chocolate custard. After I finished, I saw Turtles. I asked what they were and almost ordered one on the spot. But it’s July 1st and I have all Summer to eat one(or more?) of those. Glad my Unilocal friends turned me on to this!

This place is so fantastically good it is a hazard to the waistline. Their custard is made in the store. How amazing is that? My favorite flavor has got to be the chocolate almond which I get in a waffle cone topped off with extra almonds. Sinfully good. This is one place everyone misses when it closes down for the winter.

This is our family’s favorite spot for ice cream in Yorktown Heights/Shrub Oak. To begin with the staff is always super friendly — eagerly offering samples of their flavors of the day and describing their inventive pre-made creations such as Oreo and wafer wheels, pie-on-a-stick and all kinds of others! It’s frozen custard and every flavor is made fresh on premises. I always go for the chocolate but their low-fat coffee and fruit flavors are outstanding too! They even made a batch of Guinness stout custard. Hard to believe but it was so good!

Love the workers there, nice fun environment. The custard taste amazing and there’s such a good selection of flavors and toppings. Every now and then they make a weird flavor like a lager one which was a nice change. Plenty of sitting room, its nice outside. Conveniently next door to a deli.

The ice cream/custard is mediocre. We usually drive an extra 20 – 25 minutes to Blue Pig because it’s so much better. The rocking chairs out front are nice. Non-stop joking around by the guys behind the counter gets old.

There is a really nice/helpful guy that works here. He got hubby and I to try the opposite flavors we normally like to see of we would like the others.(I’m a vanilla/he’s a chocolate) we liked the flavors but stuck to what we love best! I added chocolate sprinkles… Let me tell you, they are generous with how much they put on which made me happy! Can’t wait to come back.

I’ve eaten a lot of ice cream/frozen custard/yogurt in my day and Abbots is clearly one of the best in the Northeast. Strong flavor with a dense creamy texture that puts any other soft serve product to shame. Even their prepacked pints hold up extremely well and if it was closer to me I’d give up Ben & Jerry’s for Abbott’s. It’s in a wierd location but worth the trip.

Staff and owner are great and friendly. Frozen yogurt is average. Good local spot. Offers many different items though.

It’s Abbott’s and it’s only about an hour outside the city! A popular chain in upstate NY, it is know for their frozen custard. It is so creamy and delicious you can’t help but love it. This location is cute with a bunch of rocking chairs outside. The staff is young, enthusiastic and super friendly. A great addition to «downstate».

Just recently came across this local treasure. Very fresh, creamy ice cream. Home made, best ingredients. Interesting combinations and unique flavors. Home made waffle cones are really good too.
