Steve and pixsavers are awesome. They helped me restore some vital pictures in a rush. The results were amazing and I never left my home; they did it all electronically and shipped out the finished products. Even better. :-)

I had a very old picture I wanted remastered so I decided to go with Steve at Pixsavers b/c I wanted to stay with someone local(even though you can find cheaper prices online). Steve will talk your ear off about how awful his competitors are and how talented he is at what he does. However, I’m a very patient person and I didn’t mind this as much — as long he can back up his words with quality work — by all means, rant away! I wish I could’ve noticed the red flags earlier on in this whole ordeal. One red flag, he offered to lower his price when I told him I was receiving lower price quotes but I told him I would get back to him after I did a bit more research. Once I decided to go with him, he couldn’t lower his price anymore(for whatever reason). Second red flag, he is very hesitant to meet in person and in particular, his«studio»(if he has one). He always wanted to go through mail and he kept insisting that I not go to his business address b/c he’s out and about all the time. I thought this sounded odd b/c the only reason I wanted to go to his business address was to drop off the picture(that way I wouldn’t have to pay for postage and I was in the neighborhood anyways). He was insistent on me NOT going to the address and sending the picture express instead. Seemed a bit fishy… Nevertheless, I was excited to see the end product(it was a gift for my father). I didn’t care about anything as long as the picture came out nice! When Steve handed me the picture, needless to say, I was speechless. The only place that picture belonged was in the garbage can. It was crap! I almost started crying on the spot. I couldn’t believe he had the nerve to hand me that picture and ask for money. The picture was worse than the original! Honestly, it was a very old picture and I knew it would take a lot of work so I’m sure Steve did make an attempt at it. However, I just wish he had the professionalism to let me know(once he realized he couldn’t create a quality product) that the picture was too faded and that he couldn’t do the job. I would’ve understood and it would’ve saved us both a lot of time(and for myself, heartache) if he would’ve owned up to his inability to create a well remastered photo. I would’ve pick up the photo and thanked him for his attempt — end of story. Instead, he tried to get paid for a horrible photo and b/c of this, I leave my first Unilocal review ever. Be on guard with this company.

After feeling that another restoration company was too expensive, I called Pixsavers: Photo Restoration & Photography. Steve, the owner, agreed that the price quote I received was way overpriced. He said he would charge me ¼ of what the other business wanted to. He was also very informative and friendly while talking with me on the phone. He even offered to come to my house to pick up the photos so I wouldn’t have to deliver them to him. Ultimately, I decided to scan the pictures myself at 600 dpi, bought Photoshop Elements for $ 70, and cropped everything myself. I’m cheap, what can I say? I’d rather do the work myself and save some money. But, I would definitely use his services in the future, on larger jobs.
