Lots of bbq goodness to choose from. Never too busy and great food!

Stopped here after driving back from Oklahoma and finding them on Unilocal. It’s a small little spot and I think it is best suited for a casual lunch visit. It’s a walk-up counter type spot where you order and move on down the line. Don’t expect table service from a server here. The bbq was good but nothing that I tried really stood out for me. Granted, it is Texas and we get to try a bazillion bbq spots and that probably hurts them in my internal ratings. In a city like NYC this place would rule! If I found myself in the area I would stop again but I doubt that I would make a special trip. That being said, if you are in the area, you should give them a try!

Had the Black & Tan with brisket chili and black eyed peas along with a full slab. The chili was outta this world with just the right amount of kick. Do yourself a favor, add cheese. The ribs had just the right amount of rub and were fall off the bone tender. Both the Plano and Sweet Willie Sauces were great on the ribs.

Out of towner traveling to Dallas. Stopped in Sherman for lunch. Grateful we did. We both ordered the rib dinner. Ribs were fantastic. Cole slaw was a bland but the cowboy beans with meat and jalepenos were great. They suggested their recently award winning Hot BBQ Wings. Ordered 2 a la carte, they were 2 huge meaty smoked chicken drummies tender as all get out and covered in a spicy sticky BBQ sauce. Some of the best wings I’ve ever had. Will stop at Cackle and Oink again.

The ribs were way overdone but the taste was ok. Tried the sweet sauce and at first it was very tasty and then the heat snuck up on you. WAY too much heat for a sweet sauce. Maybe if you tried the ribs at lunch they would be better. BUT we still had to pay full price. If you sell them you need to stand behind them.

The staff is great and always seem happy to be at work. You can see the smokers and grills behind the store, so you know they do all their own cooking. If you want something specific for dinner, like the ribs, better get there early as they may sell out. The pecan or peach cobbler is excellent and always a good idea.

I live in Sherman and can say it is the best BBQ joint in town. It is OK, but not great. I am fortunate and get to travel a lot and a foodie. I have been to the highest rated BBQ joints in the country like Salt Lick, Arthur Bryant’s, Black’s, and Smitty’s in Lockhart. Pass on the brisket and side orders, not worth the effort. Go there for Pulled Pork or Ribs and bring it home to eat.

Very good bbq. Plano sauce is very unique smoky and great. Tried pulled pork, very good. Sausage was good. Get the brisket chili side, probably the best item.

LOVETHISPLACE!!! Our family is always searching out new BBQ joints in Texas! Cackle and Oink deserves all the praise they get and the awards they win! The brisket was perfect! No marbling like other chain places; not mentioning the place with the yellow cups(yuck). Smoke ring was perfect and didn’t really need BBQ sauce to eat the brisket BUT C&O’s BBQ sauce is awesome! The Piglet plates were perfect sized for the kids. The staff was VERY friendly, VERY funny, VERY accommodating and did I mention VERY friendly! Can’t wait to go back next time we roll through on the way north!

Had the Cackle and Oink plate. Brisket chili was extremely tasty. Chicken was great and seasoned well. All dark meat, the good tasty stuff. Sausage I wasnt a huge fan of. Nothing wrong just not my personal preference taste. Pulled pork didn’t have much flavor, but the sauces are very good so they took care of the pork. This was my second trip here. Staff was amazingly friendly both times. Will definitely come back.

My husband and I ate there a few days ago. I was impressed by the awards they have won for their BBQ and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. We both had ribs and sliced brisket and they were good but not fantastic. We agreed that Smokehouse BBQ in Lindsay, Texas far better.

This place is awesome! We went during lunch and ordered the pulled pork sandwiches. They were perfectly tender with very little fat, and not at all greasy. It was so good I ate it with no sauce just to enjoy the juicy, rich flavor. Even the baby loved their pork. Tasty tasty. So good you’ll want to get a gym membership just to eat more BBQ! Plus, they’re super friendly! Now that I have that gym membership… I look forward to going back soon. If you’ve tried Hutchins in McKinney. I still crave Hutchins, and I used to rave about them as being the best local barbecue place, but after trying Cackle and Oink, Hutchins can only rate 3 stars in comparison. After hearing the recommendations for this place my expectations were high, but when we finally tried it, I was completely floored by Cackle and Oink. It was That good.

Nice casual BBQ spot. Ribs are good and so is brisket. The sauces are a great accompaniment. Tried a few dishes and some sides. The coleslaw was nice and beans sweet and tangy. Not the healthiest alternative but good bbq.

3rd place ribs at Memphis in May — ’nuff said? NOWAY! Ribs here are rubbed with a sweet peppery dry rub and then slow smoked until they are perfectly moist and fork-tender. House-made BBQ Sauces are yum, but the meat does not need any dressing up at all, so we tried the sauce on bread and left our ribs as they came out of the smoker. We also tried their original recipe link sausage, obviously locally made and well seasoned. The side of green beans we tried were nicely peppery and infused with crispy pork for extra yums. Jalapeño cornbread casserole was dense, sweet, well balanced, and full of sweet corn and slightly hot jalapeños. We think non-jalapeño eaters could enjoy this. Black eyed peas were also made with pulled pork for seasoning, and cooked to perfection. Service is fast, friendly, and very personable. Did we mention they have won several times at Memphis in May? They have multiple other awards from BBQ contests throughout TX and MO. SOEATHERE!!!

I stopped in for lunch, had a 1⁄3 lb or ribs with boiled cabbage and secret recipe BBQ beans. I especially liked the ribs~ old school smoke. Sides were delicious. 3 types of sauces on the table– something for anyone. I would go here again in a heartbeat. Friendly service too!

Came here with a coworker during my lunch break one day. The location is relatively easy to find. We went around 1pm. The lunch rush had cleared out. The dining room is pretty small so I can imagine it getting pretty crowded if there were a big rush of people. The food itself was underwhelming in my opinion. I ordered the two meat plate and added a jalepeno sausage. I choose ribs and chicken as my two meats. The ribs were a bit dry. There were no smoke flavor which is what I love most about barbeque. The chicken was a leg quarter, which is what I like except that they debone the meat, which is weird to me. The chicken seemed to lack flavor completely. The sausage was the best protein on the plate. It was juicy and flavorful but not spicy at all. The sides I chose were also really good. The jalepeno cornbread casserole was sweet and not too dry and the boiled cabbage, which seems boring, but was actually really tasty.

Stopped here on a return drive home during a roadtrip and was quite impressed. The staff was all really nice, the food pretty amazing and the price outstanding for the amount of food you end up with. I didn’t eat there as we had our dog with us who couldn’t stay in the car by himself, but certainly would next time. Tried the ribs, jalapeño cornbread casserole, and potato salad. Wife rolled the dice and tried their pulled chicken sandwich. Pretty risky move usually in Houston, but their chicken was moist and delicious. Ribs were just as you’d expect too, falling off the bone and just melts in your mouth. I think the true surprise though was that cornbread casserole which was pretty delicious. I’ll definitely stop next time I wander north of Dallas and anywhere within an hour vicinity of Sherman. Worth a sidetrip for sure!
