The first time I ate here was great. The second time I brought a friend and we loved it! We are both Unilocalers, and when we checked-in we received a free ice cream. The service that night was slow, but we did not have any time constraints so it worked out well. We were even thinking about trying out the yoga classes. What changed? After we paid our bill, which included tip, and as we were leaving the café an older man stopped us to ask why we didn’t pay for our ice cream. We reminded him the ice cream was free with a Unilocal check-in and showed him our check ins. He then said ok and we walked across the street into a bar. After 15 minutes of sitting in a bar across the street, the bouncer comes over to us and says someone wants to talk with us. We looked at each other trying to figure out who would send the bouncer to get us. I got up thinking it was my boyfriend, who was going to meet us at the bar, and outside the bar was one of the teenage waiters from Rumi Café. The teenager told me outside of the bar that we needed to go back because we did not pay for our ice cream. I told the teenage waiter that we spoke to an older guy earlier and everything was ok because we got the free ice cream with the Unilocal check-in. She said she would not leave the outside of the bar until we went back. So we walked out of the bar(another business, where the underage waitress couldn’t enter) and across the street to tell the older man again that the Unilocal check in gave us free ice cream. I spent 5 minutes arguing with him in the street about the check in, which was finally resolved when another person came and vouched for us. We walked away in disappointment and anger. Disappointment because this business did not want to abide by their Unilocal check in promotion; and anger at the fact this business sent an underage waitress across the street into a bar to call us while we were in another business establishment. After reading some of the other reviews it looks like following customers outside of their business and down the street does not seem to be out of the ordinary for this Café, which is why I vowed never to go back. I’m ok with that there are a lot of other Cafes with better customer service, and yoga studios near by.

Came here for an early brunch before heading to Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. Loved the food here! Ordered a Veggie Breakfast Burrito which was bomb. Ambience is casual, a great place to eat food. Not loud, just a calm place. Recommend!

A beautiful place I am happy I stumbled onto earlier this year. Every meal I have had has been exquisite and the service is wonderful, especially Alex with his book where it gives a bit of a fortune. Love the atmosphere, the art, things advertised, the movie always playing, and the energy. Try the heaven juice and vegan wrap! I’ll always come back to this place when I can, makes my day.

I have honestly never had a more pleasant experience at a café. The owners are an absolute delight. Coming in here is like stepping into my mothers kitchen, a place where we congregate and divulge our inner most thoughts in confidence.

Oh Rumi, how did it take me so long to find you!!! The owner is so great and the food is AMAZING!!! I asked for a chocolate croissant and expected the stale pastry with chocolate sticks In it like you get at most bakeries or coffee places. But no, he made a warm croissant with not just Nutella, but chocolate syrup too!!! So amazing. I can’t wait to make my way through the rest of their menu. Ps. They have free wifi!

My gf found Rumi Café through Unilocal,so we stopped by & was immediately welcomed outside by the very sweet owner. Right away I really loved the décor and vibe of the place. I ordered an iced coffee that was pretty good, & my gf liked her iced blended coffee a lot, but the food was mediorce. The owner came to our table with a book of Rumi quotes, asking us to randomly pick a page. He read it to us & I just really loved this mans good energy and vibe! He made an ordinary coffee stop experience into something special. :)

This place… I will never forget and now I have a Unilocal account(yay!), I would love to share my wonderful experience here at Rumi café with others who have never been there or have been there :) I came along by myself after the gym, and was looking for a place to eat dinner. This place was closing, and I was just gonna take something to do, but the owner there welcomed me, and he was kindly letting me dine in. I tried to rush as I know staying after their closing time could definitely annoy them, but the after I received the check, instead of rushing me out, the owner came to me and read a poem or some sorts of quote, which seems like a traditional thing for them(?), and made me feel like just«wow, so nice, so cool, so warm», I didn’t feel rushed or anything at all. Their food items seem very healthy over all. I had tuna sandwitch and a hot chocolate. I came here a long time ago and I don’t think the owner remembers me at all. But this place has really really good vibes, and on top of the great tasty food and warm and kind hot chocolate there, I really was blown away from their great customer service and unusual exquisite tradition. Obviously I was the last customer that night, and I am so glad I came here! I haven’t had a chance to go back to this awesome café due to my work schedule, but I am dying to go back, and I want everyone to know how great this place is and hope Rumi café will stay successful for a long long time :)

Rumi Café is amazing! My first time here and I have not only mentally bonded with the owners but their food and tea are the BEST! The tea was so different and calming and the rest of my day is focused. They even have testimonials written on every table from customers as part of the décor! There is plenty of street parking, places to sit and free WiFi. This is a highly recommended establishment in the Sherman Oaks area. Will be a lifetime customer here for sure!

This was my first time at Rumi Café, and it definitely won’t be my last. I love this place so much: the special Rumi tea was so good, and the falafel wrap is the best I’ve tried so far. I don’t live anywhere near here, but I’m for sure going to make my way out here… it’s that dope!

The BEST place to be! Fai & Alex made us feel like ROYAL people! WE truly feel like we were in the living room of some of our own ‘best friends’- we felt right ‘at home’! The food was AMAZING! It was my son’s belated B-Day(he’s vegan) so they played music and sang happy B-Day for him! We were surrounded by the three things we LOVE the MOST– * our ‘RUMI’ * Beautiful soul host people * and GREATFOOD! It was our first time there, and we can’t wait to be back. :) Thank uuu for a wonderful experience, Luv– Adel & Kyle Kaesemeyer

I really want to like this place. They have organic juices and it sounds like a really great place. I came in here today and the people working here were extremely pushy and creepy. I knew what I wanted already but before I had a chance to ask for it, this guy insisted on very slowly listing all of the things they have that I didn’t want. I told him that I know exactly what I want and he said«you want orange juice?» I told him that no I do it want orange juice, and he started from the beginning, slowly listing once again all of the things I didn’t want. At this point I turned and walked out. I turned around to ask my husband if he would like to go to whole foods instead and the guy had followed me out! He proceeded to ask me if I would like a juice and I told him that I don’t like being chased around. He said no problem and went back in. Ugh. Shudders.

The owner of Rumi café is so sweet. He made sure I knew I was welcome as family there. I didn’t have much time so I just got an lemon chamomile and mint iced tea and wanted to check in for the banana ice cream and he let me even though I was supposed to spend $ 20 to get it. He had no idea how bad of a week I was having with a death in my family and he really brightened my spirits. The ice cream was totally incredible. So was the tea. I can’t wait to go back for more. The banana ice cream had no added sugar too and made fresh to order, which is always a score. I got mine with almond milk. Next time I’ll try mango :). Great atmosphere.

I often go to Rumi Café on my quick lunch stops. They have healthy vegan and vegetarian items on their menu. When possible, they’ll gladly turn their vegetarian items into vegan ones upon your request. Their Vegan wrap is divine — so very delicious. The Falafel wrap is wonderful. The Veggie Bella sandwich is yummy. This one I order as vegan(by replacing the pesto sauce with hummus spread). I haven’t tried any of their desserts, so I can’t review that. The family running Rumi Café is very friendly. They welcome you as if you’re in their home. This tiny place actually has a community/living room feel to it… It’s very casual. I am aware of their other services, such as their photography business, but that’s only because I asked. They’ve never solicited these services to me.

I was here on my birthday and was curious to see what the hype of Rumi café’s uniqueness is all about. Parking is a challenge here but I was able to find street parking a few blocks away. I like the cultural feel of the place especially the wall of the most influential people in the world and TV videos that make it unique. I ordered a Southwestern Wrap which cost $ 9.95 and a Rumi Heaven Juice which cost $ 3.95. The juice is good and lives up to all its good reviews but the wrap was just average and the most disappointing part was that it was served with no sides… I would have even be grateful for some bread, chips or something! All in all it was average but scores more for design originality. I probably would not return since it didn’t satisfy my appetite but it’s definitely worth a visit to see if it suits your likings.

We stumbled upon Rumi Café by accident. It was perfect. We were celebrating my sister’s birthday after a morning massage session. It was December 31 and the place we had chosen was closed as they were getting ready for the NYE party. I had parked right by it and so we decided to check it out. I say it is perfect because my sister is a superchill, yogi, health conscious, «dirty hippie» :) maybe not dirty, but you get the point. It was destiny to find this place. We went with omelettes. We were able to add some more veggie options to our omelettes and when they came, they were packed with goodies. One thing that was a bit of a turn off was the hash browns it came with. The picture in the menu showed this freshly shredded mound of hash browns and we ended up getting those«squares» you get at the frozen food aisle or: gasps: a fast food restaurant. However, the turkish coffee was super yummy sans sugar and my sister loved her green juice/smoothie. The ambiance was cool and saw that they are also a yoga/dance/photography studio. I noticed that it said that first class was free. How cool is that? Could not find a schedule, however, but plan on checking it out.
