The service was 1st class, première, attentive, anticipatory — everything you want AND extra courteous — from the greeter to the bussers. Simply amazing! The food was typical french steakhouse/bistro. Very limited menu, but what was on it was perfectly prepared. We had the Spicy Shrimp to start, which appeared to be just a scampi with a tiny amount of cayenne or crushed chilis — we ate it too fast to analyze it! — but the portion was generous and it was flavorful without being overpowering. A simple salad was next. The dressing was an excellent compliment to the greens — tangy, but not vinegary. Tomatoes were perfectly ripe. We ate it like rabbits. The main course was NY Steak with garlic slices & Pomme Frites — typical french offering. The steak was perfect. Perfect temperature. Perfect texture. Perfect taste. The fries were seasoned with crack — we could NOT put them down! Dessert? Chocolate Soufflé & Tarte Tatin. We don’t eat dessert, but we ate the soufflé(served with cream on the side) like hungry dogs. The tarte we took home — and it was as good as the soufflé. Price? Not outrageous for an upscale LA eatery, but not cheap. Shared appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, 2 cocktails — $ 220.00(including tip).

One of the best restaurants I ever ate in Sherman oaks!!! Love the food, the service and the feel this place has. Highly recommending the butternut squash soup they have seasonal. So so yummy!!! But really everything is so good and yummy:) Save for special occasions and when you want to treat your self or your beloved.

The food in this restaurant outdoes the most fabulous of restaurants I’ve had the pleasure eating at in Europe. Henri put his Chef to work making the most wonderful of Cassoulets. The Cassoulet had all of the wonderful ingredients one would expect to find in Toulouse in the Southwest part of France. Duck confit, pork, wonderful sausage and beans, to name a few and exclusive of the herbs and spices. Pair all of that up with fine wines and good friends for a phenomenal evening. The waiters are attentive and friendly. I’ve never seen them angry with anyone. Your water glasses never go dry and should you drop a fork or a napkin it’s replaced in a flash. Henri(the owner) deserves the highest of compliments for this meal, and for running a good house.

Mistral is a French Bistro located in Sherman Oaks. In Sherman Oaks parking can be difficult but luckily this restaurant offers valet parking for $ 6. The Ambience: Small intimate restaurant with dim lighting, glistening chandeliers, and beck n call service. Has a sophisticated upscale feeling. Since this is a smaller restaurant, it’s best to make a reservation. The Food: All of the dishes tasted wonderful. The crisp veal sweetbreads and shrimp, capers-lemon beurre blanch stood out and was bursting with flavor. The Hawaiian cocktail is divine which made the price of the drink more accepting. The Peppered Medallions of Venison cooked to medium rare was savory and parked well with the potatoes. The Red Wine Braised American Wagyu Tri Tip melted off the fork and the Maryland Style Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes were rich in texture and flavor, which left my stomach completely satisfied! Their food is amazing! And they have an excellent wine selection. The Service: Very professional and attentive staff and service. You will receive 5 star service here. Price: $$$ This place is pretty pricy so make sure to come on a pay day =)

Came here last week to celebrate a birthday. Took advantage of the dineLA lunch menu. Parking: Weekday on the street ½ block away in the neighborhood is free for 2 hours Service: Greeted upon arrival, attentive throughout Ambiance: With 80% capacity, could still hear the person sitting next to me. High ceilings give this small space an open feel. A bit too dark. Food: I had the leek and potato soup and chicken leg confit in light dijon mustard sauce. The chicken had a wonderful crispy skin and moist meat and the sauce was subtle and yummy and I’m not a mustard fan. The soup was a bit heavy but hearty and I heart any creamy soup without cream. Birthday girl had the mushroom watercress iceberg salad and monkfish ‘Provencale’. Taste was light and the salad had a lovely bright color and dressing. The mushrooms made that salad pop. Overall: Everything here feels like this place has been here forever but with solid food, I can see why it probably has.

Love this place, great food great service and something new daily. Branzino is my favorite dish there when they have it. The place can get a bit loud at times but great atmosphere and decorations makes up for it.

Magical little place on Ventura Blvd. Amazing food and ambience. I had the escargot and salmon. Both were delicately prepared and beautifully presented. Classic flavors and presentation.

Finally I made it to the famous Mistral! I’ve had this place on my must try list for the longest time and finally I got to give it a shot. Here’s my opinion. The place is very cute and classy. Finding parking is a bit of issue as its on busy Ventura Blvd. You’re better of doing a valet which is only $ 6. Make sure you have cash for that as they won’t include it in your bill. The food was excellent as every other Unilocaler mentioned on their review. We ordered the mushroom soup and shared the chicken linguini. Both of the items were delicious, nothing out of the ordinary but good food. If my rating was just based on food then I wouldn’t be given it a 4 star. However, I had to dock a star because of their service. When we walked in we were greeted very politely and got seated right away. All the service staff were very attentive. Maybe a bit too attentive to a fault. I went with my mother in law and she had gastritis which is why she eats slow. But the staffs were too anxious to get the food out of the way. Our table was by the kitchen and all the service staff kept staring at us waiting for us to be done with our meal which was a little uncomfortable because it was only 9pm and they don’t close until 10pm. My mother in law ended up getting her food to go as she felt embarrassed. The real issue came when I asked them about the valet ticket. None of us had cash on us and when we asked the valet attendant we were told they can either add it to our bill or give us cash for it from tip. The service staff however wasn’t too happy about it when we mentioned it them. They weren’t rude about it at all but again all the staring kind of gave their frustration away. This is very unfortunate because I really like the restaurant, the food and the atmosphere. They would’ve gotten 5 stars and a lot more visits only if their staffs weren’t so good at making their customer feel so embarrassed. Hopefully they will take that into consideration and make their guests feel more comfortable. Will I be back? At this moment, maybe not or even if I do I will make sure I have enough cash so I don’t feel humiliated.

This place is definitely on the pricier side; a place you want to take someone really special or yourself if you feel like you deserve a special treat. I have only had the desserts and coffee here all of which have been nothing short of amazing. I love places like this that retain a classic vibe and continue to push out really great food.

This is my new favorite date night place in the Valley. The decorations inside are impeccable, the place looks like winter wonderland. Great selection of wines, with price ranges between $ 30 and $ 300 per bottle, there is something for everyone. The escargot as an appetizer is a must try. The arugula salad was a great starter also. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and was served with a fresh pomodoro sauce, mashed potatoes, and garlic spinach. If you are a chocolate lover, than you should definitely try their rich chocolate cake. The manager and the servers were all very helpful, over the phone, and also throughout the night. Parking is always difficult in the area, but they have a valet parking. The place is very small, so be sure to make a reservation in advance.

I chose to have our annual company holiday dinner at Mistral and it was a great choice… The place isnt very big, but the ambiance and setting is cozy yet elegant and the vibe is relaxed. The drinks are really good, but they definitely don’t come cheap, but hey, whateves, if you decided to come to a nice French restaurant, and you’re complaining about price then you need hug. We ordered all 4 appetizers on the menu and they were all great. The snail was perfectly cooked and not chewy. The Shrimp was moist and had a little kick. The TarTar was very flavorful. And the Fries were on point. I swear they’re McDonald’s fries. Our main entrees were good, but a little more salt was needed on my Beef Wagyu and her pasta. The plus is that the portion sizes were much more ‘Murica then Francois. Which is good, because I was worried we were gonna get bite size pretty little things that left us craving more(Panda Express afterwards?) In the end I would definitely recommend this place for date night or just a casual drink and munch.

Date night was at a quaint little restaurant in Sherman Oaks! Service is great and we arrived early on a Thursday evening and there were only two other parties in the restaurant! We ordered their side of brussel sprouts as an appetizer and the shallots and bacon added just the right amount of flavor! Don’t eat too much of the delicious sourdough bread, because you want to save room for their wonderful entrees and Chocolate Soufflé for dessert!

This is a way overdue review for Mistral. I have been a regular at Mistral for over a year now and I need to share with everyone how amazing this restaurant is. Every time I dine at Mistral solo or bring friends along with me for dinner parties the owner addresses me on a first name basis and is beyond sweet to me and more than accommodating to me and my guests. The way that I am treated at his restaurant supersedes the way I have been treated at any other restaurant in the valley. Period. 5STARS. PHONECONTACT: Any time I make the decision to dine at Mistral I always make sure to call ahead to make a reservation, they are always prompt in answering phone calls and accommodating me and my party. They are also ALWAYS busy so it is just best to make a reservation at this particular restaurant. Phone contact=5STARS. FACILITY: LOVINGTHEVIBE! From the lighting to the décor this place will make you want to hang with your friends and drink as well as eat for hours! They practically have to kick me and my friends out of the place by the end of the night. The lighting is very dim and super romantic so if you are considering bringing your significant other here I would highly suggest you do! This restaurant is very well kept and clean obviously. Have never had issues with cleanliness here. Facility = 5STARS. FOOD: The food at Mistral is always amazing. Beyond delicious and you can tell that all that is being used is the freshest of ingredients. I have had every item on the menu here and it has always tasted SOGOOD. Owner keeps menu the same for most of the time as well as small so you know that the quality control of food is there. Just go there and see for yourself! FOOD=5STARS. OVERALL: You can always catch me dining at Mistral! It covers all of my bases when it comes to the kind of vibe I want to feel when eating out somewhere and the delicious food is just the icing on the cake! I know you are hungry… What are you waiting for ?? ;)

I’m going to keep this short & sweet. Food was tasty(we both had salads.) The owner/manager was incredibly nice. But the noise level in the restaurant was SOLOUD that I couldn’t even hear my husband at the other end of a small table. It was not at all the ambience we were looking for for a date night!

Came to Mistral for DineLA Restaurant Week for lunch. We had a reservation, but the lunchtime rush was not so bad. I could imagine that reservations would be more necessary with the dinner crowd. Between the bf and I we were able to cover about 2⁄3 of the DineLA offerings. Appetizer: –Complimentary blue cheese pastry. A nice start to the meal. Not a sweet pastry, but rather a savory treat to get our palettes going. –Curry Broccoli Soup: Good, but not amazing. I appreciated the curry flavor, but the bf wasn’t feeling it as much. I thought it was a nice creamy, but not too heavy soup. –Baby Kale and Arugula Salad: I thoroughly enjoyed this salad and would want to eat this on the regular. It was healthy and fresh. I loved the fresh avocados and the dressing great. Entrée: –Crispy Skin Branzino: Not going to lie, I had to google ‘branzino’(what a newb). It is European seabass for the other newbs. I only wish this dish wasn’t as good so my bf would have shared more bites with me. The fish was cooked perfectly. The side of cherry tomatoes and greens brought some really good flavors when put all together. –Tagliatelle with mushrooms and cream sauce: Not going to lie again. Second time turning to google. Tagliatelle = long, flat pasta similar to fettuccine. This pasta dish was quite heavy, but it was good to the last bite. The cream sauce was worth sopping up with bread. Dessert: –Mini Chocolate Soufflé: We both opted for the soufflé over the fresh fruit choice. I thought I was full after my salad and pasta, and the thought crossed our minds to take dessert to go. But you can’t really take a soufflé to go. As soon as I dug my spoon into the warm chocolatey soufflé, all crazy thoughts of skipping dessert left my mind immediately. The texture was light but the chocolate flavor was rich. The service was excellent and their service is one of the main reasons I would venture back. The timing of dishes was precise. They offer valet parking in the front. There is metered parking along Ventura or we found free side street parking. The ambiance is on the romantic side and definitely a step up from casual, but my bf pointed out the décor is slightly outdated and the diner demographic seemed to be on the older side. That didn’t really bother me as I see Mistral as a date spot. I hope to return and try one of their steaks. Although at their 30+ price point, it’s going to have to be a special occasion.

The Service: The Food: Baby Kale and Arugula Salad, Avocado, Parmensan Shavings, Lemon-Olive Oil. Very refreshing appetizer salad. The size is perfect for 3 course meal. Crispy Skin Imported Branzino — red grapes, heirloom cherry tomato & sweet basil salad — YES, the fish skin is super crispy. The fish is unbelievably tender and fresh. The vegetable & fruits on the side totally compliment the fish. Excellent dish!!! Classic Boeuf Bourguignon — pearl onions, carrots, turnips, served with mixed rice. Miniature Chocolate Soufflé — Perfect size for one! Baked to perfection~ happy ending for a great lunch!!! The Parking: Valet parking; Street Metered Parking; some sides streets are residential area(2 hours free)
