This place has great food and the staff are very friendly. The menu is as long as the special selection, which is a little daunting. The place is small, but has a nice atmosphere and is a very hole in the wall location. Bar selection is good and out door seating is nice.

Delicious! What a wonderful restaurant. The staff was great, they handled our larger group very well. The food was piping hot and wonderfully presented. It tastes good but a little bland. I would come back.

Best upscale dining in Shelton. Cocktails are generous in portion and food is well thought, prepared and full of flavor.

This place is a little hard to find as its kind of tucked away in the back of a shopping plaza, but it is worth checking out. The service was excellent. Both of the waitresses tending to us were very friendly and knowledgable about the menu and the specials. The dining area was cozy, a little loud, but about what you would expect for a full room of people. My husband had a surf and turf type special that was awesome. The steak and seafood stuffing were so good! I had the pappardelle with broccoli and chicken and was totally underwhelmed. To be fair the waitress warned me some people find it bland. I should’ve listened. The menu had some interesting items though and I would definitely go back.

Absolutely tremendous food and service. Between 8 people we had both escargot apps, a shrimp cocktail and and French onion soup. The soup was good, but a little weak. The shrimp were huge and fresh. Both escargot apps were great. We had a salmon special, osso buco, fish and chips, filet medallions(two versions), pappardelle, duck and one other dish that escapes me. Without detailing, every one was flawless. The big thing, for me, was that everything was piping hot. Reduction on my osso buco was fabulous. Deserts were all second to none. There was only one detractor for me. I normally tip 20% for good service, and our server, Claudia, was the BEST!!! I dislike the practice of restaurants that assume their customers are deadbeats and therefore add gratuity to check. Gratuity is not a given, I want to be judge of service. In this case, I would have given waitress above the 20% customary tip as she was truly great. Unfortunately, when a restaurant does add tip, I NEVER«over tip». I feel poorly about it in this case, but that’s the way I operate. Normally I do not return to restaurants that have this rule, But Wellington’s will be the exception as it is one of the best places I have ever eaten.

Wellingtons was not the way I expected from the reviews or their website. I thought would be a very nice restaurant with mood lighting, quiet atmosphere, and elegant feel. It really isn’t. There is one room that is set up as a bar, a long and narrow room with tables, and some seating outside. The bar was very loud, and echoed into the smaller room where we were seated. And the ambiance is very plain and spartan, although still a step up from a diner. But the food was spectacular. Delicious, plentiful, and they went the extra mile to accommodate my mother who is lactose-intolerant(despite a chef who likes to add butter and gorgonzola cheese to everything). The staff was also excellent — friendly, attentive, and knowledgable. Overall, I am happy with the experience, even though it was not what I expected. I would recommend the place if you want a good meal, but you’ll probably want to choose somewhere else for a «nice dinner».

So a vegan walks into Wellingtons Restaurant… Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, but the only thing bad about my experience was the establishment’s unfortunately meaty name. Make no mistake, this isn’t a hidden vegan paradise under the guise of an old-school steakhouse, but I was stunned by the dinner that I was served, right alongside my entirely omnivorous, rather picky family members. Our server couldn’t have been more lovely, and immediately picked up the cue when I said I was vegan. She said that it was not a problem at all, and even went out of her way to make sure that there were no offending ingredients in my –dad’s– side of vegetables when I volunteered to «help» with them. There’s only one dish that is vegan as written, but all you need is one good option to make a meal. Though technically listed as an appetizer, the grilled vegetable tower is a genuine mountain of perfectly charred bell peppers, squash, zucchini, and portobello mushrooms, glistening with olive oil, a balsamic reduction, and basil. It’s all very simple in concept, but brilliantly fresh and perfectly executed. I would gladly go back and eat this every day of the week, given half the chance. The punchline is that even though Wellingtons stays true to their roots, it’s supported by staff that seem to genuinely care about both the food and the customers. Everyone walked away full and happy– Especially the vegan.

I’d been there on Monday nights when they have a limited menu, and everything was always incredibly good. Tonight we took my dad there for his 91st Birthday celebration, and the food was insanely good. I had the Gorgonzola Twin Medallions of Fillet Mignon. Wow. Incredibly tender and tasty. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The only drawback is the main dining room doesn’t have much to deaden the sound so if there’s a large group nearby it can get noisy. Last meal I had out that came close to this was at Croce’s in San Diego.

Love love love this restaurant, a family favorite. Best food and service in the area. Food comes out timely and is always cooked to perfection and HOT– not luke warm or cold but HOT. Crispy Chicken, chefs filet or the cajun sirloin are my favorites. No skimpy baby pours here either, martinis and wine are real pours. Restaurant is very clean. Expect orated specials and dessert, quick drink deliveries and your water always filled to the top as well. They also have a bar where the regular menu is also served.

Will never go back. The food was awesome and the service was great. Management was horrible. From 7:30 to 9:00 everything was fabulous. At 9:00 the table across from us got loud, used excessive profanity, and completely ruined the prior awesome experience. After dessert and $ 148.00 we had to mention the lack of control in the restaurant experience. After listening to a ½ an hour of f-this, f-that from the table across from our table, I showed great restraint in not mentioning something to these low– life’s myself. The waiter gave us a $ 25 gift certificate to come back. Never would I submit my wife to that disregard or disrespect and go back to this restaurant. Then the manager said they were regulars and that if she said something now, they would know it came from me. They already lost my business by allowing these rude, low-life’s to swear and cuss out loud during our dining experience. Terrible management, allowing the regulars to ruin the experience for future customers. I will never go back. I don’t care how good the food and service was. Management is a joke the way she runs it. Fire her and get rid of those«regulars» and you’ll steer your outstanding food and service in the right direction.

Can’t believe it took me so long to find this restaurant. I found this restaurant on trip advisor and saw it had good reviews so we decided to go check it out. It is a hard place to find it pushed all the way in back behind a plaza, but once you find it you won’t be disappointed. The owner is so nice and welcoming she made it seem like we known each other for years. All of the waitstaff helps out all tables so the service is fantastic. We had two appetizers stuff Gorgonzola clams and beet goat cheese salad both were outstanding. We got one pasta dish, one beef dish and one seafood dish and weren’t disappointed with anything. I don’t remember the last time I scrapped my plate clean and the only thing I left on my plate was the parsley garnish. Prices are reasonable and serving size are generous. I highly recommended going there you won’t be disappointed.

Went with a large group for dinner at Wellingtons on a Friday night. We were seated in a separate room which made the dining experience very nice and intimate with our group. Service: The service is amazing. The wait staff knows their stuff. The endless specials are memorized by the staff and they were fantastic at answering any questions regarding each dish in specifics. Food: The appetizers and food came out in timely manner and exactly as requested. Everyone order steaks at various stages of being cooked and all were perfect. I had the Cajun strip steak and it was delicious. Overall, the food and service is something you can complain about. You will spend a decent amount of money so this is probably for special occasions vs a random weekday meal.

I am never disappointed with my dining experience. I’ve tried so many items on their menu. First, they give you the lightest, most flavorful bread that is always fresh with whipped butter. The waitresses are so attentive and accommodating. The menu is perfect and requests can be honored to ensure you have a pleasurable dining experience. Now that it is nearing fall, they will have delicious soups. Some of my past favorites that I look forward to: cream of asparagus, potato soup. Check out photos that I posted as a collection of dishes that I’ve sampled. Lunch is not as busy but it’s always a good idea to call ahead– just in case. It’s not empty, as someone suggested. And dinner… Reservations are a must! You will not be disappointed. What a cozy restaurant with great food and service.

So, so good. Wait staff is top notch and ridiculously attentive, and food might not be world class, but you would have to be a serious epicurean snob to dislike it.

Excellent food and great service. One of the best places for a nice dinner in Shelton. Calamari specials are great and the clams gorgonzola are amazing. Try the duck and strip steak. Treat you like family

Great food. We had a special pork chop with Gorgonzola and cherry peppers. Also tried the chicken Milanese. Both were excellent. Food overall was 2 thumbs up. Nice wait staff. Restaurant décor was average, but the food makes up for it. I was told the chief is a fanatic about fresh ingredients, and you can definitely see that this is true. I will definitely be going back when I’m in Shelton at diner time!

Not impressed with lunch… restrictive menu and very average food… had onion soup and a beet salad, friend had filet… neither of us was overwhelmed… restaurant was empty… know people rave about this restaurant… but we weren’t enthralled. surely lunch menu needs more options…

I always enjoy the food here and the owners are very nice folks. Not much choice here for vegetarians as every dish seems to have some sort of meat, cheese, even the salads, but if you’re an omnivore you’ll love it here!
