Don Ramon’s

Love Don Ramon’s they always have the best service and their salsa is always delicious! One of my favorite dishes to get there is Chori Pollo!

Poor service. Asked for natural juice and they brought tasted like coolaid. Extra charge not explained in menu or when waiter offer. After I presented my concerns to the manager he made excuses not the experience any better. And as far as the vibe/​atmosphere I felt not welcome.

Good food and service. I went there twice recently. The Don Ramon special is very tasty.

We have eat here a couple times now and overall are pretty happy. It is kind of hard to get in and out of the parking lot but plenty of parking wait staff was friendly and attentive something that caught my attention is the restroom was impressively clean there was ample dining space not crowded and it was clean our orders were took fast we had food on our table pretty fast. Food was good I had the chicken taco sale this is a dish I have ordered from most of the local Mexican food places and this was one of the best ones I’ve had. Prices were very reasonable and in line with other restaurants like it. I do have to say though the music they played was very different it was almost like Spanish nursery rymes if you can imagine that it was louder than what most places play there music and very nerve racking and distracting to the point me and my husband just wanted to eat our food and get out of there. But overall very pleased would recommend and go back. Just maybe bring your ipod… lol

Went Friday evening, best Mexican food in town!!!, everything I’ve eaten there has been very good, only compliant was a new clueless waitress we had the luck to get Friday, omg, she don’t need to leave the house, just stay home and draw unemployment, yeap she was that bad, I’ve «Never Not» tipped anyone before!!!, I’ve even sent a tip to the cook at Sagebrush that was here in town before, but this gal, whew, don’t see how she got her shoes on to even get to work that day!

I love the Don Ramon Favorito (Texas — with shrimp, chicken, and steak) I’ve tried a few other dishes here and every time I have they have been delicious. The cheese dip is really good and the guac is alright. They would do soooo much better if the guac was fresh prepped at that table like one of the other places (I won’t mention the competition in a review for another just seems wrong). Anyway this is a great spot to eat in Shelby. I would love to see them do a buffet. We lack a quality Mexican buffet in this little town and if they introduced one here like our neighbor city (Gastonia) I think it’d do well.

So this has become mine and my husbands new Thursday date night. The servers are so kind friendly and this is what customer service should be like. Never liked guac now… only guac I will eat. Husband has never eaten salsa… he finishes the bowl :) the only thing I have noticed is since eating here so much… the consistency is not on point. Sometimes guac smooth, sometimes chunky. Refried beans sometimes smooth sometimes seem maybe a little old? Minor things but I like what I like. You have to try because they do know what they are doing! One of the best places to dine in shelby!

Now that El Eden is gone, Don Ramon’s is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Shelby. It’s a friendly, colorful, fun place with excellent chips and salsa, a very diverse menu, and pretty reasonable prices.
I went last night and had the chili colorado. I will admit that it was pretty spicey, but it was still quite good. Their fried Xango is also very good. Not as good as Mi Pueblito’s, but still delicious. The rice here is very good, too. Lots of flavor and bits of vegetables mixed in.

This is a good solid Mexican restaurant. If you don’t see it on the menu, you can describe it and they can try to make it. Great for lunch, as they have the typical bargains/​lunch specials. I really enjoy their lunch steak fajitas. Pretty good salsa. They generally have a special of the day and a beer/​drink special. Dos Equis Amber on tap. Try the chile rellenos, if you go for that sort of thing — very tasty. Small outdoor patio area for nice weather. Good place to bring the kids.
