Nothing to rate here except the extremely poor service. Since we didn’t get waited on, I can’t tell you if the food is good or the beer is cold or if the prices are fair.

Great neighborhood bar with the best burgers in KC! Buy one get one half off on Saturday nights! Mixed drinks are generous at a decent price. I’ll be back.

If you are not a regular here, you have to fend for yourself. This is the second time I’ve been here. The first time, we sat down and waited for a good 15 minutes before finally bellying up to the bar and ordering for ourselves. The second time, we waited for about 30 minutes(I made eye contact 5 times with two different servers) before walking up to a waitress and asking for a drink and menu. The waitresses are very nice once you go to them for service. The food is good bar food and the prices are college town prices. They have terrific specials every day and happy hour from open — 6pm. A few pool tables, beer pong table and stage. And tons of TV’s. Overall, I enjoyed this place and will go back for their delicious burgers, but if you’re shy & expect the servers to come to you, don’t go :)

This is a regulars bar which is great but as a none regular female i have been in this bar 3 times. The first time my boyfriend and i sat at a table(no one said a word to us) because the bar was packed. We sat for about 10minuets before my boyfriend just walked up to the bar and got us drinks and menus. We sat for another 20 to 30 mins before leaving because still no on had acknowledged us… The table infront of and to the side of us where getting tons of attenchen. As a server myself even if you are not my table and you keep looking around i would come check on you. The second time i came in with my boyfriend and a friend of ours we got to sit at the bar this time so the bartender proptley got us drinks and menues however it was a pain to get her back over to take our order. She then took my boyfriends order skipped over me took our friends order and walked away. The 3rd time I went in alone bar was full but walked up to get a drink and then sat at a table… No one said a word to me after i got my drink.

Hard to beat $ 6 pitchers for Royals games. Poured in the old school giant glass ones too. The pint glasses have got to be the coldest in town, and the big mug prices for domestics are ridiculously low. Garrett’s has a real small town atmosphere and is populated with more working class, blue-collar types. The service can be hit-or-miss; low-volume and it can be pretty personable, busy night and they’re attention is on faces they recognize. The food is surprisingly excellent for being the dive-bar style establishment. Games at Garrett’s includes shuffleboard along with pool and darts. I will be returning.

Fun, local dive bar with a ton of TVs to watch games on. One huge room for big or medium sized groups with a massive projector screen. The other room is set up with TVs in every corner and at the bar so you can always see what’s on. Plenty of games to play, ranging from pool to shuffleboard. Decent food menu with variety of options as specials on different nights of the week. Most of the customers are regulars.

Garrett’s is close(ish) to home divey bar that’s very affordable. It’s a great place for a quick happy hour and an unassuming place to catch a basketball game. They run fantastic daily specials, like .50 cent wings or cheap(and delicious) bloody Mary’s. The food is typical bar food, but they have a pretty big selection of appetizers. Don’t expect fancy, but expect friendly people and a decent value.

I just moved to KC from Los Angeles and Garrett’s is, by far, the best karaōke experience of life. The crowd is fun and dive-y and the songs range from Motown, to country, to Macklemore. The KJ is loads of fun and always makes sure everyone gets a chance before people get repeat performances. Drinks are CRAZYCHEAP. 8 drinks ended up being $ 22. The line dances are super fun and the crowd is always guaranteed to be a great time. LOVEIT! Now when I contemplate moving back to Los Angeles, I just think, «But there’s no Garrett’s there! How will I get my Karaōke on?»

Garrett’s is one of those small bars you drive by all the time and wonder about. Tired of our usual bar food lunch spots in Shawnee, we decided to try Garrett’s one Saturday afternoon. I would agree with other reviewers that it is definitely a neighborhood/dive bar. And that is fine by me!!! There were a few regulars at the bar taking shots and chatting with the friendly bartender. She was helpful, fast, and explained menu items well. She suggested the chicken fried steak sandwich, and she did not steer me wrong! I loved it. I was sad that I was too full to eat the whole thing. It was nice to know that as we were the only ones eating(around 1:30−2 o’clock), the cook went back and made everything fresh for us. The food, service, and prices were all great. I will be back for the«local» feel, and of course the karaōke.

This place is such a dive bar, and I LOVE it! My friends and I go Thursday nights for karaōke. The drinks and food are great yet cheap, the staff is awesome, the atmosphere is divey and fun. Love my Thursday nights here.

I have known this family for years. Great food… just don’t call it bar food. The old Hickory Stick restaurant is back and on Friday’s try a bbq pork sandwich. Cold beer and not just the usual suspects in the cooler either. Good selection and fair prices. What more can you want?

Garrett’s… You may not have heard of it, but you know where it is: 65th and Nieman, where too many bars have gone to die. I hope this one sticks around. In its most recent reincarnation, Garrett’s is a neighborhood bar, in a fairly blue collar neighborhood. Much like its predecessors(Skeeters, Hawg Wild, etc), it’s very basic, with bar stools, pool table, TVs, and perhaps something you could call a small dancing area and stage. I popped in twice: once to see if any changes had been made(new ownership… that’s about all that I could ‘see’), and another to check out the karaōke. YAY for Stars and Bars and one of my fave KJs, Cindy. Drinks were priced fairly, service was as expected, as I’d seen the bartender Dave working at other nearby bars previously. I rarely eat bar food anymore, given some of my recent experiences, but I imagine it’s about like most bar food. Will update when it gets all settled in and is opened for a bit. :) They do seem to have a good crowd when I’ve driven by. Smoking is allowed on the patio.
