Chef Chun Chinese Restaurant

I don’t live nearby so I only get chef chuns when I have a specific craving. I have to say though they are by far the best Chinese takeout joint I’ve had. All the classics are the best I’ve had. The wontons are home made, the egg rolls seem to be too, and their general tso chicken has actual dried peppers in it and some real smoke flavor from the wok. Too often its just sweet sauce and salty chicken. Chef chun adds the extra kick needed to make it something special.

I made it very clear to our server that I did not eat meat, however, nearly every item brought to our table had meat in it. Our spring rolls had shrimp and chicken in them, and they were cold, so I think they may have been for an order that was never picked up and we just scored the left overs. I then ordered a meal called «Vegetarian Delight» which had a few stray pieces of beef in it. Each time I told the server he said, «Don’t worry, no charge for that,» meaning I didn’t have to pay extra for the meat I didn’t order in the first place. Ultimately, I’m not sure if it was the server or the kitchen, but the service was sub-​par and I left hungry, because I didn’t get what I had ordered. I wouldn’t go back.

I’ve heard a lot of great things about this place so I decided to give it a try tonight. Amazing! Best Chinese in twp. I won’t go anywhere else for take out. Got chicken and broccoli and pork lo mein and 2 egg rolls. All perfect. Chicken was actually real and the texture was perfect. Not overly greasy or salty. Definitely order here.

I have been going to Chef Chun’s for as long as I can remember. The service is amazing if you eat in, the servers are always really polite and cater to you like royalty. The food is also way better when you eat in, but for take out it is still really good and consistent. The Sesame chicken is my favorite and again, it is a little crispy and way better if you eat in. Their wonton soup is also one of the best I’ve had. Sometimes the woman who answers the phone is a little slow of the bat, but I believe they hired a younger woman who speaks better English to take orders over the phone. Definitely a nice quiet place to eat out and the food is consistently good!

Best Chinese food in South Jersey. I no longer live in the area, but when I am in town, I make a point to stop at this place. Great food!

Polite staff, great taste and great value, still, over 15 years after I first tried it. I’m normally not a fan of Chinese food as it’s so salty but not from here. Truly the best Chinese restaurant in town, great for a cold winters night, Chef Chun’s is not to be missed.

Got take out because we saw the reviews and we’re looking for a new Chinese take out. The hostess was really nice and the place was busy with diners as well as take out orders. The food was good quality but not good.
I got the chicken and broccoli combo and it was so salty (overwhelmingly salty) I didn’t eat most of it, which was a shame because it had nice big pieces of chicken. I actually washed the sauce off some of it so I could eat it. The fried rice was just ok but the egg roll was very good quality. I also got cheese wontons which had a very sharp taste, I think they were cream cheese but it tasted more like goat cheese.
My husband did say the hot and sour soup was the best he had in a while but his spicy wonton app and sweet and sour pork were underwhelming. Overall it was expensive and not impressive. It seems to be a local favorite but we will not be ordering again.

Finally made it in here the other day. Was greeted by the sweetest little Chinese lady and knew I was in for a treat. Started off with the shrimp wonton soup outstanding homemade wontons. Ordered the house special fried rice and spring roll as well everything was perfect fried rice seasoning just right spring roll virtually greaseless. Cannot wait to go back.

Finally, chinese food done right again! It seems I stepped away from chinese for too long and after a nervous trial, I was relieved almost immediately. This place is doing it right just like I remember. Hot and fresh. Delicious everything. Take out is an option but, to be there and dine with these friendly folks makes the experience all the better.

I really like to eat here when I’m in a hurry. The food is tasty and plenty. The staff is nice. The restaurant as a whole just seems sketchy to me though. I’m not sure why maybe because I always sit across from the kitchen so I get a glance of the inside. Chinese pizza is AMAZING by the way!

I tried chef Chuns a few days ago and the food was outstanding. I wish I’d found this restaurant a little sooner as it is only a couple blocks away from my home.

I’ve eaten here since the early 90’s. Food has always been fantastic. Won’t ever go back again though. I saw two mice running around the dining room during my last visit. We told the woman there and she just shrugged it off saying that they came from next door.

The best Chinese food around. My family has been getting this for years. Even since moving away from Washington Township, we still drive 20 mins over here to get Chef Chun’s — even with the option of multiple other places near our new house that will deliver. That’s how good Chef Chun’s is… it cannot be beat. My family’s favorites are the kung pao chicken, vegetable lo mein, pork fried rice, and sesame chicken.

I’ve lived up the street from Chef Chuns for 21 years and it is without a doubt the best Chinese food in township. The staff and yen are incredibly nice and the atmosphere is great. I feel like a strep into china everytime I walk in. The food is always tasty, fresh, and consistent. The Sesame chicken and egg rolls are the best.

I am always so sketchy about Chinese food, this place is top quality ingredients and delicious. You won’t find a better place in South Jersey!

Chef Chun’s without a doubt has the best Chinese in the area. Everything we have ever had here has far exceeded most other Chinese restaurants we have tried. Chicken and Broccoli, Sesame Chicken, General Tso, Wonton Soup all very good.
The one thing that does annoy me it the amount of time it takes to pick up your food. On a Friday or Saturday night they have one person who is not great with English handle both the front desk pickups, the phones, and hostessing. There have been a few times where I was told 45 minutes before it would be ready for pick up, got there in about 40 mins, then waiting another 30 – 35 mins while there.
They really need to have someone doing each of the front desk tasks especially on a busy night. Other than that, food it great.

We have been eating here for years, they never disappoint. The food is great service is friendly and fast. Have had several family diners with 12 or more including children and they were great. My opinion the best anywhere!

Chef Chun’s might be my favorite restaurant on planet earth. They’re good is delicious, and for Chinese-​American it’s incredibly nice to your stomach. Chun’s likes to cover their food in flavor, not oil and crap. The staff and owners here are also the absolute nicest. Always quick, always fresh, always delicious. I come here way too much, and I still think it’s not enough.

Still as delicious as ever. Went again tonight. This place is so damn cozy. Its like my mom perfected her Chinese cuisine and was cooking for me in our home kitchen. Love it.
