Fairly smaller for a restaurant. But the food itself is amazing. I come here sometime with my grandfather and the food never disappoints! The prime rib sandwich with au jus is a great lunch item to go for! Gonna try their breakfast next… A lot of locals recommend it.

I would not recommend this place to an enemy. Where to start is difficult as everything was horrible. From cold and soggy wings, cold fish tacos with missing pico de gallo(and only 3 tacos instead of 4 as stated on the menu), a Caesar salad that was kept under a heat lamp for a long period. Wilted and brown would be an understatement. We had to ask why our food was sitting on the counter and not being served after watching the staff stand over it and talk for 20 minutes. Add the fact that we watched the cook handling money with his gloves on and continue handling food with the same gloves, should have walked out right then. Lastly, when did wings start getting served with mayonnaise as the dip? First time ever going and definitely the last. I don’t think I have ever seen a place where the staff cares so little about what the customers think. I only wish I could give it negative stars as it does not deserve one.

Breakfast review — did not know this place served my favorite meal of the day. So that was a pleasant surprise when I had a meeting scheduled here. Omelet was packed full, but just warm. Potatoes were a bit greasy and barely warm. What complicated things was that my fork was ice cold… a bad combo. Coffee was average. My counterpart got the special eggs benedict and they looked delicious. One thing that was a bit unsettling was the lack of attention the waitress gave our table. Maybe 8 people in the whole place at this time and she took 15 minutes to get our drink order and then I had to ask for a refill of coffee when she delivered the check(I guess I am used to other places that fill my mug consistently!). I will go back if I have another meeting in the area. But there are other better options nearby…

Garry’s Grill was not bad. I think my expectations were too high because people kept recommending Garry’s for breakfast. It is tucked away in a strip mall in the corner. We walked in on a Saturday morning around 945am with no wait which was great. I don’t know if my pregnancy nose kicked in but I thought the place smelled funny. We were seated in the back of the restaurant and our server greeted us and took our drink order shortly after we sat down which was a plus. I ordered the Country Fried Steak, my Husband ordered their breakfast tacos, and my Mother in law ordered an Omelet. My meal was good but could have been hotter. My eggs were cold and the potatoes lacked flavor. The CFS was smothered in gravy, a little too much, but no big deal I just scraped some off with my fork. My husband and mother in law were disappointed with their meals. The presentation of the tacos were blah and my husband said they were just ok. My mother in law said her omelet was hard and overcooked. My daughter had the kids big breakfast. It was huge for a kids meal. Definitely getting your money’s worth. My only suggestion for her meal is to scramble the eggs. The eggs were not scrambled. They are flat and seem to be similar to a broken omelet. I can’t say Garry’s is a restaurant I would go out of my way to try again but if in the area I would consider giving them another shot.

My wife and I just finished picking our daughter from her dance practice in the area, and decided to finally venture into Gary’s, which is somewhat hidden off the main road, tucked away in a corner of a nondescript strip mall. When we pulled in, we were buoyed by the crowd overflowing just outside of the restaurant. While this typically indicates a popular spot, but by no means a gauge of the meal to come, truth be told, there really was not a wait area per se, so those folks waiting were caused by a lack of an adequate wait area, and not some frenzied ‘foodie’ rush. Despite these initial trepidations, we still decided to give our names to the very young(we’re talking teenage) host trying his best to orchestrate a Friday prime time dinner service. Surprisingly, we actually did not have to wait too long, which in retrospect, may have been the best experience of the night, because as we sat down for the meal, what the remainder of the experience showcased was lackluster service and a thoroughly underwhelming meal. Normally, when an eating experience is ruined, you might point to some of the more obvious causes. Waiter was abrasive, meal tasted like mud, dishes were dirty, etc… but in this case the devil is in the DETAILS. While the food came out looking excellent, underneath this ‘presentation’ layer you can quickly discern an inexperienced hand preparing the meal, or worse yet, perhaps an ingrained lack of attention to the details. Now I understand how kitchens can have an off night, and at the same time I respect the hard work of any small business establishment, but in this case I would suspect if there was a true focus on quality control, this meal would have earned my family’s repeat visit. Their cause was further injured by a service that was spotty(we’re talking NO refills on the water) at best, and definitely could have used a more nuanced understanding of the menu. But here’s where they botched up, primarily with the execution of the meal: –My order of ‘fish and chips’, while seemingly well prepared, showed signs of being hurried. The batter, especially on the bottom, was inconsistently fried and was soggy. The fish was also close to being undercooked. A no-no of the fish frying mantra. –Also the Gary salad, while tasting great, was accompanied by largely clustered sugared nuts. As my wife said, «they must of just dumped them out of the box.» A simple break down of the larger clusters into more manageable pieces(i.e., to where you can actually get them into your mouth), would not have been missed by a more seasoned, or dare I say, caring expediter. –My wife’s order of country fried steak came out as expected, but the miss here were the carrots accompanying the entrée, which were undercooked. They were warm, yet too al dente, and just needed a second or two in the pan/pot. There were a few more minor issues, but again they were not glaring, just in sum total… frustrating. We ended the night trying a decent version of derby pie(we’ve had the original, from Kentucky, so we know what the standard should taste like!) and a coffee service that epitomizes the experience. It came out lukewarm, and initially with no cream. It’s those finer touches, that this restaurant needs to work on, else we would definitely be back again, instead of listing Gary’s as one to avoid.

This place is a little slice of Earthly Heaven! Comfort, comfort, and more comfort. The setting is comfortable with the diner feel but clean and updated, the service is comforting, and the menu is loaded with awesome comfort food leaning toward the gourmet. My wife had the ultumate grilled cheese. Yes, grilled cheese. It was loaded with a variety of cheese from stringy to gooey, included bacon, and a combo of light sauces to make it a delightful, guilty pleasure. It was also on humongous slices of bread. I had the new Diablo burger. No kidding, probably stacked 6 inches tall. Cooked to perfection and packed with flavor! The sweet caramelization of the pulled pork paired perfectly with the smoky charbroiled flavor of the beef patty and crisp crunch of the onion rings. The spicy monty cheese and pepper sauce gave it just the right amount of umph without too much burn. Juicy, tender, and very filling. We both had full meals with sides and the check came to only $ 20! Service was fantastic and personable. We’ll be regulars! I’ll update with pics later.

My favorite breakfast go to in the area. One of the first places locally and still to offer Cap’n’Crunch coated waffles with the perfect berry compote pairing, I always ask for it on the side Eddie’s Big Breakfast is massive and a great choice for the huge b-fast lover with a sample of everything All American Skillet, is one of my favorites as is the Breakfast Bomb, a deep fried egg and sausage sandwich with white gravy on the side. I’ve never been outside of breakfast wish I was available all day Breakfast bar area is fun with an open kitchen Seating is limited and expect a wait on the weekends or holidays

Try the Crispy French Toast. Thick cut homemade cinnamon swirl bread soaked in egg wash and then rolled in Cap’n Crunch. They then flash fry it and serve it with berry compote. My favorite breakfast!

Great atmosphere with or without company. It is my second time here and Both times the staff has been friendly and the people around. Food was good and you can request changes or make your own omelette for example. I only gave it four stars because the fact that the kitchen is not enclosed and is next to the dining area lets the occasional smoke in the area but it’s not a lot other than that is a great place to eat

Breakfast is good, however, if you order the portobello benedict, make sure to request cooked mushrooms.: / Silver-lining: I was able to bring two large, raw, whole mushrooms home, dinner was fabulous. Service was also a bonus.

This place never disappoints. Can’t go wrong with anything on their menu, however I have my favorites and normally stick to those. The Vic Chop is amazing and a perfect blend of flavor combinations. Also shrimp salad on a crescent or the cranberry chicken salad is always a sure thing.

My wife and I just stopped in for lunch and she had the Round Bay a flat bread topped with crab, cheddar cheese, and fresh tomatoes. She is going on and on about how great it is. A must try if you come by for lunch or dinner

We typically love it here but this morning was horrible service. The waitress was not nice and took forever. I use to wait tables so I understand being busy and understaffed but be nice. It goes a longgg way. It really was off putting. Food was great as always. I’m going to stick with lunch or dinner here. Breakfast on the weekdays was a bad experience.

So I decided to updated from my first review. This place is GREAT! I have had the oppourtunity to dine in for breakfast and for dinner. Both are equally delicious! BREAKFAST… Its supposed to be a cheap meal right? It IS! You will spend 20 to 30 dollars more for 6 ppl at Double T or Bob Evans easily, and what will you get? The same static breakfast. Garrys has more than just omelets and pancakes. I find the food to be much more imaginative than any other breakfast menu. I recommend hazelnut coffee and the south of the border omelet, or the Benefield tacos. For dinner the Chartwell ny strip steak is amazing! Also the chicken carbonara! And even the specials are inventive and delicious! We have a maple bourbon tenderloin slider. It was out of this world. Even the drinks are fun! You know pumpkin everything? THey have a pumpkin martini that is divine! I am giving 5 stars for the review. The only boo hoo to the restuarant, is… they need more seating, and the bathroom area occasionally omits a pine fresh odor that screams bathroom.

I love going to Garry’s for breakfast! It is always full of regulars, me being one of them Cookie is my favorite server there, but everyone is friendly. I love the mug for my tea and the Captain Crunch French toast is the BEST! They always have bonus items for you, last time it was Cheesecake French toast The omelette are real good and you can get scrapple there! Just for an update… added to the menu is shrimp and grits– which is delicious… and if you ask, you can also have two poached eggs put on top!

Diamond in the rough in the heart of great local cuisine. I had the Benfield breakfast tacos with hash-browns. The tacos consist of scrambled eggs covered in shredded cheese, with tomatoes, green peppers, and chorizo sausage. They arrived at my table popping hot with a side of tasty salsa. Also, on the platter was a side of what they called«hash-browns», I call them fried potatoes. Either way they were really flavorful, some of the best I have had in a while. The place is on the small side. And it is filled with locals. If you want a great meal with a friendly staff this is your place.

Bottom Line: Consistently good food served in a small, quaint space by experienced staff. I’ve been coming to this restaurant space for years, no, make that decades. I actually remember when this spot was the Family Circle Restaurant many moons ago. And I’ve been patronizing Gary’s Grill for decades, even as its changed ownership through the years. Anyway, Gary’s Grill never disappoints and this review is about the present day restaurant with the existing management, so here it goes… Here is what I like about this tried and true Severna Park staple: — The menu is diverse and the food is always good. My favorites are the Mexican Chicken Salad and the Coconut Shrimp. Even their sides are good too like the made-to-order sautéed spinach, tater tots and daily vegetable. — The staff here always seems to be on the ball. You can tell that the wait staff is experienced and thinking ahead. — Desserts. Yummo to the homemade desserts. — Coupons and awesome deals. Even if you don’t have a coupon, you’ll enjoy specials like Two for Thirty on Tuesdays(an appetizer, two entrees and a dessert, I think) and Wednesday Throwback where the price of a featured dish is an absolute bargain(e.g. $ 6 hamburgers with fries). — Most seating is in a comfy booth that perfectly fits up to four. If you have a larger crowd, there are a few tables that offer more seating, but I’d refrain from bringing a large group here. Because this restaurant is small booths and doesn’t cater to big crowds, its significantly less noisy. I really appreciate the calm and quaint atmosphere of Gary’s. — Beer, booze and wine. Yep, they serve it all. My only complaint about Gary’s Grill is the same complaint I’ve had since the beginning of time — the cold drafts that blow in through the front door. Because this restaurant is long and skinny, every time someone opens the front door(in the cooler months) a draft floods the restaurant. You can even feel the cold air half way back. Gary’s did install a heater over the door several years ago, but that doesn’t prevent the draft. Ideally, they would build an artic entryway, but that may not be feasible in such a small space. If they would take a page from many Northwest restaurants and install a thick, breeze blocking curtain, I think that would be as effective as an artic entry. Anyway, they do try to refrain from seating people by the door but still. ..
