I have given this place several try’s and every single time my family and I go, we always encounter a problem. Service is terrible. One Saturday we had to sit at a dirty table for 20 min before someone finally cleaned it off… when I asked if someone could clean it, I was told«we have no bus boys» and the waitress walked off. The menus are a joke… items on it are not available. They advertise stuffed peppers but when I tried to order them I was told«takes to long to make so they are not making them today.» Really??? Takes forever to get your drinks and majority of the time they are not made correctly or they don’t know how to make what your ordering. This last and final time my family and I went, they debited my account for more than what I signed my receipt for. I was told Alissa would call me back to take care of it… been 4 days and I have yet to hear from her. Don’t trust this place and pay with cash if you do decide to eat here. I WILLNOT be back to this establishment. It’s been a joke since the day it opened. I caution anyone who eats here.

Service has improved since previous visits as has the wait time to actually get your food after placing order. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Good selection of food on the menu, from bar food type snacks all the way up to Wagyu steaks. The fish I had was over cooked. The portion size was good and so were the vegetables.

We took our boat out for a cruise. We docked and shared a burger. Very good! My Margarita was made with fresh lime juice, and it was also very good. Wonderful view of the lake on the patio!

A true oasis in a desert of boring. My family lives in the area and while there is some good food most restaurants lack decent atmosphere. I wanted to enjoy a Sunday afternoon having a burger and a beer on a patio, this is about the only place that has this and the patio is on the lake to boot. Not only do they have a beautiful patio overlooking the lake but the burger was fabulous. I can’t wait to come back, next time by water.

Friday night at 6:00PM and an empty house Our service was good. We were disappointed in the food. I had a 14.00 Chicken Fried Steak. It was good but not the best on the lake. Crab PO Boy had a sauce tasting like liquid smoke Real Crab. They have one of the most beautiful Views on the Lake. Great for Burgers and Beer I truly hope they make it. Summer is soon to bring the weekenders

This place was pretty quiet when we stopped in. But it is beautiful inside. If only it was warm enough to be by the lake. Anyways the food was good I ordered the chicken wrap. It was pretty average. It came with weird pickled veggies which I wasn’t a huge fan of but was also served with fries.

We went back to this restaurant because we heard it’s under a new management and it shows. I had rueben sandwich and my husband had the pulled pork sandwich it was great, the service was wonderful. Hopefully those who left with bad impression will come back again everybody deserves a second chance. I hope they add more fish, seafood and veggies on their menu or if I may say a more health conscious choice of food will be admirable.

Service was horrible Food took over 45 minutes(fried catfish) To much batter and no taste. Was told by waitress they where having a beer special 4 $ tall drafts… Got the bill they where 10 bucks and she stated she was wrong … Nice! No offers to make amends… Food is tasteless. Long wait for no real reason was not crowded… I live in the lake area and I am really rooting for a place like this to be good… This was my third time trying since their opening and I felt compelled to finally write about the three terrible experiences all similar… Poor service… long wait… Food average to poor… Expensive for lake area and such poor service…

I went with my family over Labor Day weekend. I got the shrimp and grits. I thought it was good — a little too much barbecue sauce for my personal taste. Again, that was personal taste. Beautiful patio and scenery. They had the beers my husband likes. I will definitely go again.

My wife and I live on Cedar Creek Lake about 10 minutes from Coconut Island, and we have watched them struggle since their start up. We have eaten there six or eight times and I regret to say that most of what you read in earlier reviews is – or was — true. The start-up was a serious crash-and-burn, then they rose from the ashes and cleared up most of the front-of-house training issues, but the kitchen still lagged. Because we live on the lake, we have been rooting for these folks since day one, but on every visit, something was either wrong, or just not very right. Hooray for persistence. We had lunch there today, learned from our waitress that there was a new chef in the kitchen, and for the first time since their start up, had an absolutely flawless and very enjoyable lunch… … except for the Gun Barrel City policeman who was out front trying to give a woman a heart attack with a rubber snake, which he had apparently pulled from the trunk of his police car. But, you can’t blame that on the restaurant. After all, police will be police. I had the Mahi steak special and my wife ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with an excellent combination of ingredients — goat cheese, mango salsa, and some other goodies that escape me at the moment. Both dishes were expertly prepared and had some flavors you would have had to drive to Dallas to find, until now. We met the new chef — Joel, who was finishing up his second week on the job — and enjoyed a brief conversation about his plans. Today we had been offered three off-the-menu specials — my Mahi steak was one — and we learned that Coconut Island will be rotating through a variety of off-menu specials in the coming weeks, as a way of seeing what works for their customers, then fine-tuning the menu from there. I put in my vote for good-quality deep-fried mushrooms, and Joel said he would put that on the list right next to the calamari he was already considering. So whether you live on the lake like us, or you’re one of them consarn weekenders that keeps coming down here and clogging up the roads, get over to Coconut Island and see if you aren’t as surprised and happy with your experience as we were with ours. Get there soon and put in your vote for deep-fried mushrooms. We look forward to being able to kick this rating up to five stars.

I’ve been here twice. The first time was the opening day and the grill wasn’t working so the menu was extremely limited. We ordered sandwiches which admittedly weren’t too bad but anyone could make with a trip to the grocery store. After a few months we made the decision to return. hoping things improved from the last time. We arrived and placed our order at 1:50pm. After waiting an hour we asked the waitress if they have began to cook our food. She said we were 3rd in line currently. It was 3 pm at this point and so we told her to please cancel the order we would pay for our drinks and leave. She was nice enough to not charge us at all. It’s a shame this place can’t their act together it’s a great location

We took the boat over for our first visit this Saturday. We went mid-afternoon for some appetizers and drinks. We did not order any entrées, as it was 3:00 in the afternoon. We have heard all the mixed reviews, but our experience was great. The atmosphere was great and the food was fine. Look around people — it is not a 5 star restaurant. It is a bar on the lake. Sure we were there at a slow time, so we did not have any issues with service. Perhaps service is an issue when they are busy, but it was not for us. We will certainly be going back.

I’m sorry but the food was terrible. Coconut shrimp with hard, burnt tasting batter. The chicken sandwich had a huge cold bun and the chicken was mushy and flavorless. The fries were overcooked and very salty. Our waitress warned us that they were new and encouraged us to stick with the basics when ordering. Despite doing that, it was just not good at all. No cocktail menu but the drinks were not bad. The service was good and our waitress was very sweet. This place has awesome potential but the preparation of such basic dishes has got to be improved. I urge the management to try the food themselves! It doesn’t seem like they have. Three stars for the location and view and hopes for an improvement!

I have heard the worst about this place. I will say that they need some serious improvements, and it’s strictly about the food. The atmosphere, service and drinks were great. I ordered the shrimp and grits and the crab dip. The descriptions for the entrees boasted things like«goat cheeses» «poblano cream sauce» and«habanero bbq sauce». Considering I grow habaneros, poblanos and have eaten goat cheese many times, I know what I should be tasting and unfortunately I tasted zero of those flavors. I thought the textures were great, the crab dip was fine although is only worth about $ 5 when you pay $ 9, and the shrimp and grits were good but the«habanero bbq sauce» tasted like kethcup, water and sugar mixed together. It completely ruined the dish. I’m being really nice in giving this place 3 stars, but I am considering it’s location and I’m hoping it will improve some as it is fairly new. If this place was located in Dallas, though, I would have given it a 1 star review and walked out without paying.

Started badly. Improving slowly. We went for the first time the weekend it opened. It was a cluster. One sheet of paper for the menu, VERY few options. Food was just bad. No cleats on the docks for tying off your boat. Poor dock layout, a big boat can’t get in. I watched 2 big speedboats try to come in, but had to leave because there’s NO space on the dock for a boat over 25 feet. Went back over July 4 weekend. Cleats are on the dock. They have a real menu. Food improved, catfish was great, everything else was just ok. Spent a lot of time there Saturday night July 18. Went for dinner, ordered a burger and a friend ordered a steak. We were both VERY clear, don’t bring them out overcooked. Medium please! A hockey puck will get sent back. Both came out well done. Not a bit of pink in either piece of meat. My buddy had to eat his meal with his steak knife, we had no silverware. It showed up when we were half way through our meal. The server comped my burger because I wasn’t willing to wait another 40 minutes for a replacement. Oh yeah, we waited 40MINUTES for our food. At least the waitress kept the beer coming. We came back later that night to see the band. Here’s a tip: drink beer. Pay cash for it from the girl serving it out by the dock. If you wait for your server, you won’t drink. The band was good, the crowd was fun. We had a good time. We WILL go back, because we like to boat to dinner and they’re the only option on the lake since the Tiki Hut shut down. Don’t go expecting good food, unless you get the catfish. Go for the atmosphere and you’ll be fine. Their issues are with the staff: cooks don’t know what they’re doing, or don’t care, and waitstaff is mostly inattentive or overworked.

We are thrilled to have a new place for dinner and drinks out here. The staff was friendly and prompt. We had the fried pickles which are fried spears instead of «chip» style = more pickle less breading. The couple we dined with had the coconut shrimp and steak. It was served with veggies and looked good. They both said it tasted great. We split the catfish thinking we would have several small pieces to divide. I was shocked when it came out as one huge fillet! It was the best! The waffle fries were not hot and had to be sent back. The fresh ones were very good. We didn’t order any mixed drinks after hearing reviews but our beer was cold and we enjoyed a few out on the patio after dinner. The view and atmosphere out there was perfect! I can’t wait to pull up dockside in a boat sometime soon and try this place again!

Service is SLLLLLOOOOOOOWWWW. Mixed drinks are weak and expensive for the area. Menu is limited, but to make up for it the food sucks. My wife and I had $ 22 ribeyes and they were chewy and tough. Medium rare on one end and raw on the other. Baked potatoes must have been warmed over from day or days before. Some kind of steamed spinach concoction with cherry tomatoes on top as a side was weird and untasty. Only thing they have going for them is location. View of the lake is nice, but stay inside or the mosquitos will carry you away.

*disclaimer: they’ve only been open for 2 weeks and heard they had a difficult time adjusting to customer volume. Limited their menu options to accommodate limited cook staff* Wait staff was friendly, attentive, and up front with their situation. Always makes for a better experience. Even though they had a limited menu, the food was good. Their house made pickles are used for their fried pickles. Thicker cuts than I would like for pickles but the flavor was great — vinegary with less salt than most. Had the burger, cooked at only one temperature, with the ghost pepper cheese. Definitely have the ghost pepper cheese. Will be interested to see how this place is once they fully come up to their potential.
