I’ve been a huge fan of Michaels for years since they were located in the Stop & Shop plaza. For a long time, unfortunately, the original Seekonk store was actually the only location I’d ever been to. When they moved and expanded I was overjoyed. Large and in charge I can always count on Michaels for the basic art supplies I keep handy such as copics, ink and so forth. For the most part, these items can run relatively pricey but thanks to an abundance of coupons I rarely pay retail. Recently I have been learning to sew and since the Jo-ann location I frequent is in Warwick, they conveniently stock all the necessities as well as a great selection of yarn. The only issue I’ve ever had(at all three locations actually) are issues at the registers with their clearance mark downs. In particular when that specific store is offering an additional discount off the tag price, the registers(on several occasions) don’t seem to ring the items up correctly. When it’s a lone purchase it’s easy to catch but when it comes to bulk. well. it’s kinda annoying. Definitely not the employee’s fault, we end up waiting for the poor clerk to rescan and manually calculate each price. Not fun. But it’s Michaels and all is forgiven!

This Michaels moved two plazas down from original spot many months ago and it was a genius move. It’s right near Panera added bonus and is new, clean and bright! I love the new layout and store. I don’t care who you are when saying I’m going to Michaels to get just sewing needles you do not I repeat you do not just buy sewing needles. Lol. If your like me always have a coupon which is in their website(show cashier on resister and she will scan it, boom no printing coupon and you can do this in store while shopping). Yesterday they where having a huge sale on buy any frame in store and get any 2nd frame free. Obviously I took part in that sale as I’m a huge picture taker! So score. Staff is friendly, always busy but the cashier are very fast which is nice even if 7 people are ahead of you. Ample parking. Sometimes you have to look for staff on floor. Also they have craft classes. Haven’t taken part myself but looked cool yesterday with big bow wreath class. Holiday section is good it’s to right of store when you walk in. Crafts are in middle/back, sewing/knitting left corner, frames front left and registers right wen you walk in to left. Prices are moderate and better then most craft stores. Remember use that coupon!

The store itself is nice, newer and clean. The manager on a Monday morning was rude and doesn’t understand basic customer service. I found an item I wanted to purchase and brought it to the counter. The employee at the counter was very friendly and assisted us. All I had was a hundred dollar bill to purchase the item with. So the young lady at the counter had to call the manager up to make change for the hundred. The manager immediately says to the young lady«Did you check the bill yet» and she was like«no». So he spends the next 30 seconds examining the bill… really. I was like really and he was like there are a lot of these out there that our phony… okay didn’t really need to hear that. Then he goes on to tell me that Bank of America charges them for counterfeit bills… okay didn’t really need to hear it nor as a CUSTOMER do I care. The manager was arrogant and lacked the skills to be a good manager. I could give a care less about a poor manager I just wont simply shop there anymore. I really feel sorry for the nice employees who have to put up with this guy. By the way he gave me three twenty dollar bills as change and I said«should I be checking these». So overall nice store but the manager made it not so nice, will not go back.

I love Michael’s and this store was no exception. It was very bright and clean inside, and had all of the craft items I was looking for(I needed embellishments for a denim jacket for Halloween). Will definitely come back to this one!

This particular Michaels in Seekonk used to be located at 85 Highland Ave., the same plaza that is home to Petco, Bed Bath & Beyond, Stop & Shop and Home Depot, however; they recently moved(within the past 2 months?) to 251 Highland Ave., which is about a 30 second drive from their old location which is now in the same plaza as Panera Bread & Dick’s Sporting Goods. Prior to their upgrade, I rarely stepped foot into the Seekonk Michael’s because it was so… so… gross and dank and small and old and un-organized. Michael’s is supposed to be a fun store to shop and it always made me think of a place where arts & crafts supplies go to die. I finally stopped into their new home today and was very surprised, overwhelmed and a bit giddy. First off, it’s a brand spankin’ new store; new walls, new floors, new shelving, new lights, new check out area, etc. It’s bright and probably double the size of their old spot. It’s unlike any other Michael’s store I’ve ever been into because it’s truly the nicest Michael’s store I’ve ever been into. I was able to find what I was looking for with ease. Navigating the store is way easier than it used to be, although; the isle in the way back with all of the children’s crafts is a bit narrow and was awkward at times while trying to get around a family trying to decide on which puff paint to buy. That having been said, that’s my only complaint. Check out was a breeze, even though there were a handful of people in front of me. There are at least 8 registers and they’re set up like T.J. Maxx/Marshall’s registers are where a computer lady tells you which register is open. The cashier was friendly, not overly friendly, but I didn’t leave with a bad taste in my mouth. In fact, she hooked me up by scanning not one but two of the coupons I had brought in; 50% off one regular priced item and 20% off entire regular price purchase. Saving money makes this lady thrilled. Will I avoid the new Michaels in Seekonk from now on? No way. In fact, it will probably be my new go-to store for anything arts & crafts related.
