Melanie knows what she’s doing. She works fast and gives you just what you ask for. The cut she gave me looks great, with and without styling products– something that I, being supremely lazy about my hair, always hope for but rarely seem to get.
I love her egalitarian pricing– $ 30 for both men’s and women’s cuts. Very reasonable.

Melanie has consistently given me the best color and cuts I’ve ever had. I have super straight dark brown hair and am starting to gray a little bit– a previous hairdresser gave me permanent yellow highlights which were hard to grow out of. Thanks to Melanni, my hair looks better than ever with the perfect temporary brown color that keeps my hair looking natural. She also gives the best cuts and styles in town!!!

For years, I had visited the Aveda Institute in LA and was a huge fan of their $ 22 student haircuts. When I moved to the North Bay, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to find a place that was comparable in both quality and price.
I found Melanie & Company on Unilocal and decided to give it a whirl since it is only a 1 minute drive away and the $ 30 haircuts are about half of what other salons charge. I’ve now been there twice and have a third appointment in a few weeks. The studio is very clean with a 70s-​ish décor and there is a cozy sitting area with lots of magazines and water for clients. Both of my appointments have been with Melanie, who is very friendly and professional. Since I’m growing my hair out, I’ve only been asking for a trim of about an inch each time. If I were to want a completely different style, I’d probably try a more well-​known salon, but if you want maintenance then you can’t beat Melanie & Company for the price and service!

Very glad I visited this salon after reading other Unilocal reviews. The studio is small, clean and tasteful, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Elizabeth/​Lizzy was very friendly and gave me a great cut for a great price. I won’t go anywhere else in the area!

Elizabeth is fantastic, paying high attention to detail, with a lot of heart and sense of humor. She listened to what I had to say about what I wanted, and spent a long time — like 40 minutes or so — working with me to get it just right.
I’ve been back three times; each time she knew not only the haircut, but all the details of our previous conversations. I highly recommend her!

I was a little hesitant about coming to this salon since the price was really low and there were only 2 reviews on here. I can’t remember the young lady’s name but she was young and that scared me too but she gave me a great cut that included a blow dry and a wash. She totally fixed the really awful cut I was sporting under hats and ponytails and took the time to guide me in what I wanted and steered me away from something I *thought* I wanted. I will definitely come back here. I give it 4 stars because the interior could be cleaner and parking is not easy.

Melanie is AWESOME!!! Melanie has been cutting our families hair for several years now. She was at another place that was so not deserving of her at all, and she was all the talent there. She was underpaid and under appreciated, and I am sure they realize now their significant loss.
It is so wonderful to see her in her own space. When you meet her you will know right away she is a wonderful person. She is really talented and very helpful. Her salon is adorable and all of the ladies there are friendly and helpful. If you want your hair cut right and you want a «true find»…go see Melanie !

Located right next door to Viva Mexicana, it’s in the same spot as the old Bön Bön Salon. I followed Lizzy here from her previous salon because she’s the best! Well worth supporting this local business.

Melanie & Company just opened at the location which used to be the Bön Bön Salon and fortunately it wasn’t hard to track Melanie down. I am glad she has a place in her name because she is easily my favorite hair stylist in Sebastopol. My wife is another very satisfied customer. The plan is to have three more stylists at this location but all I need is Melanie for consistently great hair care at a reasonable price!
