I really liked this place. We came in around 5 on a Friday afternoon and the place was not crowded at all. Street parking is not available until 6 pm so we had to park in the back where they had a little private parking lot. We just wanted to drop in for a quick dinner before heading to the movies and their service was decent. We ordered two tofu soups with rice which took longer than expected to come out. Their small dishes were pretty delish. I really liked the sugary roots and beans. The tofu soups were delicious. It really hit the spot since I have been craving for Korean tofu ALL day! The tofu was fresh and retained its bounciness. My Kimchi tofu with beef was very good, however, they could have given me a little more beef than what was in my stone pot. My boyfriend ordered the Seafood Tofu pot. He liked it and he said there were lots of clams in there. Overall, we had a good experience. We would come back if we are in the area.

Yong’s is legit. If you’re looking for an authentic Korean place without the dirty griminess that is Korean Tofu House on 42nd, come here. The Tofu Soup is the real deal, and their portions are very generous. Oh, and the side dishes are way better quality than the ones you’ll see in the U-District. I had the Seafood/Meat combo tofu soup which I enjoyed every single spoonful of, and the BF had the hot stone bibimbap. And you won’t find the sugared/watered down gochujang for the bibimbap here – it’s all authentic. Prices are about $ 1 – 2 higher than Korean restaurants in the U-District, but the ambiance and side dishes are much better.

I love Korean soft tofu soup. I was so happy when this place opened in my neighborhood. It is closer than Lynnwood a and way nicer than any place near the U. I have been here for lunch and dinner and never had to wait and service has always been great! I have had the kimchee soft tofu soup and the seafood soft tofu soup. Both delicious! I love all of the plates of snacks served just before the meal. Black bean rice I feel is a special treat next to the meal. I highly recommend this place!

The tofu soup I got was pretty mediocre. The Korean tofu house in u district is way better. My boyfriend got BBQ chicken and it was pretty damn good though. All the Korean places I’ve been to offers refills on side dishes, this one doesn’t. Not sure why. Also the side dishes are just not nearly as good as the Korean tofu house in u district. Not going to visit again but it was worth a try.

The service here is great, and they give you plenty of sides to complete your meal. I don’t love the pricing. I walked out after eating a hot pot for $ 17 after tax and tip. I must not know much about hot pot, because i was expecting my rice to be more crispy on the outside and it wasn’t. The food was good however and I’ll likely try them again.

Got take out from this place, good taste and friendly service. The bibimbap and the soup I got was in good containers. I can’t speak to the in-dining experience but for take-out I would give 4 stars. One star off for the pricing that is a tad more than what you would pay on the Ave in Udistrict.

No problem getting a table on a Saturday night. Seating here is much more comfy than Korean Tofu house in u district, which is my fave Korean tofu spot. Food: Potstickers were pretty normal/good. 6 pieces for $ 3.50. I don’t like a lot of the side dishes, mostly because I don’t eat spicy either. So no Kim chi and such for me. So this place, there wasn’t even one side dish I liked. Tried the tofu soup w/mushrooms and beef($ 9.95), no spicy. I usually get mild so it’s at least sorta red colored, but not feeling that well, so didn’t wanna feel worse w/spices. Tofu soup was good. Also tried the kalbi tang($ 12.95), pretty normal/good. This place is pretty good, not my fave spot but better than average. I would come back again if I was in the area.

This place is hands down the best Korean food you’ll get to eat. The only bad thing I can think about this place is it’s price, which is way more expensive than other places. The appetizers ranges from 12 – 18 dollars and the meat dishes are 15 – 19 dollars. But service and everything else overall is awesome!

I had this place bookmarked for a while and seeing great reviews of my Unilocal friends I was curious to try it. I talked Mac into driving there, although he preferred to stay and eat somewhere in the Cap Hill. And I surely heard complaints from him after mediocre experience here. We arrived on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago to an empty Yong’s Tofu House. We were showed to the table and waited for a good couple minutes to place our orders. It was a good couple minutes too long, by the way. I don’t care that we are your first customers and you are still doing your opening tasks at all(and mind you– we came around noon, so they had been open for an hour already). We were hungry! Did somebody maybe Gangham it out too much the night before? I ordered my all time Korean favorite — Kimchi Chigae with Pork and Mac ordered another soup, I unfortunately don’t remember its name. But it was white in color and no flavor at all. He was really disappointed. My Kimchi Chigae was OK. But when I compare it to my favorite Korean place in San Diego(Do Re Mi House) I can say that it was skimpy and lower quality. The pork was almost non existent. The rice texture seemed to light. I agreed to the egg that our waitress cracked to my soup, but the soup wasn’t hot enough for the egg to cook and I finished eating the soup thinking of that raw egg. We waited hungry a long time for our food to arrive. I would guess that would be 15 minutes or longer. Even our skimpy(maybe 5 kind) banchan was served a minute before our soups arrived. God forbid we would ask for seconds and thirds and eat them out of their kimchi! The waitress sure did ask if we want more banchan, but that was when we already had the rest of the food on the table. To compare to my favorite place in San Diego– even when I came by myself they brought out at least 10 different kind of banchan and I was served that as soon as I placed my food order. There will be no more Yong’s kimchi for me, no thank you.

I can’t tell you how excited, and a little nervous I was to see an authentic Korean restaurant start in the city! I got used to trekking up the 99 or Lynwood for my bowls of bim bim bap, soon dubu and beyond. Nestled in Roosevelt(perfect walking distance btw) it’s got a great contemporary aesthetic of brightness and plants. Very clean! I got bim bim bap with a hefty amount of veggies and quite a variety — which is rare to get because so often you’ll have the usual pickled veggies. I couldn’t have been more delighted to mix up the rainbow of veggies with crispy rice. Portions are big which make up for hike in price(city life). They first brought my bowl out with meat, which I requested not so, and the waitress hurried over to apologize and presented me with a whole new bowl. You can tell this is family run and it shows! Keep up the good cooking my dear ajuma!

The servers are so sweet, an extra star for the service. This is one of the few places where I felt that the service was actually tip worthy. Everything about the food is good, 4 – 5 star worthy. The portion, number of banchans, banchan refills, complimentary tea, cleanliness. But… It’s very bland. I’ve tried the vegetable soondobu and the mushroom soondobu with beef. First I thought it was because I ordered the vegetable one with water base and mild spiciness, but sadly it is the same with the meat one and spicy spiciness. I really wanted to like this place as I love Korean food, and this location is perfect for me. All in all, it will fill you, good hot soup for a rainy day, awesome service. But if you’re craving some real Korean flavorful spiciness, this is not the place.

Yong’s has good Korean eats!!! I’m so glad we have a Korean restaurant near us(so close that we can walk)! But if you have to drive, there is limited parking in the back. We ordered the dol sot bibimbap and the pan fried mackerel with seafood tofu soup. So if you’ve never had bibimbap, just know you need to mix, mix, mix it all up, including all the crispy rice in the bottom of the stone pot and your mouth will thank you. Oh, and don’t forget the chili paste. The mackerel was cooked perfectly well, it was salty and slightly crispy and the seafood tofu soup was a nice added bonus! We had 8 ban chan that came with the meal, they were ok, although we did ask for another serving of kimchee. Overall, we gave Yong’s thumbs up! It’s a great restaurant with a semi-open kitchen and nice staff. When we’re craving Korean eats, we don’t have to make the trek far North or South outside of Seattle, we just have a 10 minute walk!

Usually when I think of good Korean food I think of places down south in Federal Way or further. Rarely do I find good Korean food in the Seattle area. While this isn’t all you can eat, cook it yourself, Korean BBQ, Yong’s Tofu House still made a good impression on me. The moment you walk in the door your nose is attacked by the amazing smell from the open kitchen. Majority of the tables were filled when I came in, which was a positive sign that this place is popular and serves good food. The menu is pretty extensive with a variety of tofu soups, bibimbaps, BBQ dishes, etc. Kim Chi Tofu Soup with Beef: You can order this as not spicy, mild, or spicy. I got mild because it was in the middle and it was the perfect amount of spiciness. You can taste spice and flavor and clear your sinuses, but your not burning off your taste buds. The soup was very flavorful and actually had a lot of beef in it. They cracked an egg in it, which is one of my favorite things. The egg is soft and a bit runny and blends nicely into the soup. Spicy Grill Pork– This was my favorite dish! It was delicious! Full of flavor and not too spicy. I loved the grilled onions in it too and it was also topped with green onions. Adds a nice crunchy texture to it and compliments the pork marinade. This dish has a good amount of meat. I had enough to take home a small box for leftovers. Banchan– This isn’t the best variety of banchan I’ve ever had. Not sure if they switch it out on a regular basis or not. I had kimchi, potato salad, fish cakes, black beans, broccoli, and pickled bean sprouts. I may be missing one more, but it obviously wasn’t that memorable. The broccoli was plain, not pickled so pretty bland, the potato salad is more like whipped mashed potatoes with corn in it, the black beans was a new thing, I’ve never seen before in banchan and it wasn’t that appetizing. I wish I had some pickled radish or dikon. Oh well… All dishes come with purple rice too! Overall it’s a very filling meal. I feel like the prices are reasonable and the portions are good. There is private parking lot behind the building. It’s not labeled with their restaurant name or anything. Just a bunch of towing signs, which seems ominous, but you can park there and eat at the restaurant.

5 Stars for good food Monkey can’t wait to eat again. After the RnR Half Marathon, we feasted here and ate it all. #18BIBIMBAP — veggies & meat over PURPLERICE #28COOKEDMACKEREL — perfectly broiled filet comes with TOFUSOUP&PURPLERICE #13SEAFOOD&GREENONIONPANCAKE — very good & filling This the first place Monkey likes all the sides. Usually there’s something left untouched, but not here. Love the purple grain rice. Very clean, modern space, friendly service and clean restroom.

The new recently opened Tofu House near University of Washington is definitely off to a good start. I started seeing reviews pop on my Unilocal about a tofu house being opened. Since I grew up in a Korean household, Korean food can get pretty old and repetitive. However, being in college has kept me away from Korean food and soon I was beginning to crave this«comfort food.» I’ve been to the tofu house near university district and it was mediocre. They are usually always busy and so service tends to fail. I was excited to see how this place would compare. Unfortunately Yong’s is located on 65th and 9th ave so hungry students would prefer to eat at the Tofu House closer to school. However, I decided to check this new place out to see how it would compete. My partner and I decided to walk up 23 streets since our bus pass expired. And after a mild walk, we were excited to see this cute restaurant. It’s small inside with about 5 tables for 2, and 5 tables for 4. The station where they cook the food is right next to the seating. It was pretty empty the day we came in so we were seated right away. I browsed the menu and my mouth began to salivate at the thoughts of eating the type of food from home. The waiter was very attentive and probably checked in with us around 4 times. We had to tell her we still weren’t ready since she came in increments of 30 – 45 seconds. We ordered the seaweed soft tofu soup and the beef soft tofu soup. Along with that, we ordered spicy pork. I was surprised that they didn’t have a tofu soup + meat combo since most Tofu Houses that I’ve seen typically have this combo. After waiting, our side dishes(also known as ban chan) came. I was pleased with the selection. There was kimchi, marinated potatoes, bean sprouts, broccoli, beans, and fish cakes(odeng). They serve purple rice here which is typically white rice cooked with beans, giving it that nice purple color. This is healthier than eating white rice plain. Our tofu soups came bubbling hot. I could smell the spice and I was excited. You can get your soups not spicy, mild or spicy. I personally love it spicy because it tastes the best. The waiter asks if you want an egg and they crack it into the soup for you. This was another pleasing factor as some tofu houses crack the egg in for you before bringing it out to you or have no egg at all. You traditionally see the egg being put in right in front of your eyes. Right after our spicy pork came sizzling on a cute pig platter. The soft tofu soup was so comforting and warm. It felt hearty and didn’t feel heavy at all. I usually put my rice into the soup and eat it by spoonfuls. The spice level was just right. The«spicy» doesn’t make you drink gallons of water. However, it did make me blow my nose about 3 times. I believe they did well in their soft tofu soup. They had enough seafood, tofu and flavor in mine. I particularly think their soups beat the place close to university district. On the other hand, the spicy pork didn’t necessarily wow me. I’ve had a lot of spicy pork in my life and this seemed a bit better than average. Don’t get me wrong, it still tasted great and I adored how the meat was so tender. An issue with spicy pork is that the quality of the meat and how you cook it can change the experience of eating it. If done wrong, the meat can taste quite gummy and very chewy. However, Yong’s meat was tender and just fell apart with each bite. Plus points for that factor. However, I didn’t enjoy how the meat seemed to cool down much quicker than other places. If you want to enjoy any meat dish from here I recommend tackling it first since the tofu soup will definitely stay hot for some time. Overall, service was attentive and the tofu soups were divine. It took me back home and filled my craving. I definitely recommend any of the tofu soups if you are to come here. Looking forward to seeing how this restaurant does in the future. :) Congratulations on the opening!

Coming from LA(We have a pretty legit K-Town!), I know good Korean food when I taste it. When I heard that Yong’s Tofu House was coming into town, I’m not going to lie, I was a bit skeptical. But after having tried Yong’s, I have to say I really enjoyed it! First of all they give out a ton of sides. When I went, we got kimchi, bean sprouts, potato salad, cucumber kimchi, this egg thing, fish cakes, leek(?) pancakes, and broccoli. And I’m not ashamed to say that I might have asked for seconds on some of these sides. YES. You can ask for seconds. Just don’t clean the place out. I ordered the Duk Mandu Guk, which is the rice cakes with dumplings. The broth was so flavorful, the rice cakes were chewy, and the dumplings were delicious. I would definitely order this again. My sister ordered the short ribs and they smelled soooo good. The flavoring was also just right, the perfect balance of sweet and savory. It was oily, but I’m not sure that can be avoided with short ribs. We also ordered(we couldn’t decide!) the japchae. The glass noodles were, again, cooked perfectly and had great texture. It’s cooked with beef, mushrooms, and onions. All in all, I really enjoyed my experience at Yong’s and will definitely be back. So glad that this place opened up!

This neighborhood needed this! The soft tofu soup is delicious. I went during the first week of opening and got the seafood soup + seafood pancake, and both were delicious. The soft tofu soup seemed to have a frozen mix of seafood in it the first time, while the second time(yesterday) had a more generous and fresh mix(i.e. big shrimp w/the head on, clams, etc). They’re probably just working out the kinks… either way, both times the flavor was right on. Soft tofu soup order to go — came with rice and 5 small side dishes, all for $ 9.80, including tax. I will definitely be a regular here!

Even though Coquitlam, BC has a decent population of Koreans and hence a good number of Korean restaurants, I have constant difficulty finding a place that serves really good Korean soft tofu soup. I even asked my Korean friend who lives in Coquitlam for advice and he actually suggested House of Tofu Soup, which I tried. The soup was far from authentic. It was garbage. It made me angry and hopeless. I’ve decided to go on my own journey outside of the Lower Mainland in searching for decent Korean food. My first stop — Seattle. My significant other took me here. The Unilocal address took us to 2200 block of 65th St. However with my significant other’s sharp eagle eyes he saw the Youngs Tofu House sign at the 800 block. He called to double check the address and yes, it’s 805NE65th St. We were quickly seated though there were three other tables already eating with two tables uncleared. There was only one server. She seemed to have a hard time managing the floor by herself. Regardless, she maintained her positive energy. I ordered #1 — spicy kimchi tofu soup with beef. The rice, as many reviews mentioned, was purple. The grains looked mushy but they had no mushy mouth feel. I enjoyed the chew and the aroma as opposed to plain white rice. I was given 6 banchans. That’s A LOT. We were given kimchi, black beans, bean sprouts, marinated potato, been sprouts, and fish cakes. I was asked by the server if I wanted an egg in my soup, I said yes. She cracked the egg and dropped it in the piping hot soup in front of my eyes. I thanked her and stirred away. I notice as I was stirring there was a lot of soft tofu and quite a bit of kimchi. The broth, was deep and flavorful. It’s definitely the better and authentic ones I have had. I was very happy with my order and thus ate in silence. The food reminded me of the delliccious soft tofu soup I had in New York — BCD Tofu House in July 2013. It’s been a very long time since I had such a satisfying bowl of home-y soup. The bill came to $ 9.80. I kid you not. I don’t know how this place makes money. Seriously, they need to jack up their prices. I hate to see them go out of business. I really like them. I gave a 22% tip and even that I think I underpaid. As I was taking care of payment at the cash register I notice there were two older female cooks(seems like the restaurant is ran by all ladies). One of them was tasting the tofu soup she was preparing. This gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling. Even though chefs/cooks are«supposed to» taste the food but a lot of them don’t. The amount of love and attention that’s been put into making this establishment viable makes me want to come back and eat here as frequent as I can. Food is very satisfying. I left happy.

I’m so happy Yong’s opened up 2 minutes away from my house because their food is yummy! I normally go to the U District for Korean soft tofu soup but Yong’s will be my new go-to spot. I had the seafood soft tofu soup. You can order it mild, medium or hot in spice level. I got medium and it was perfect. It wasn’t too salty like so many soft tofu soups out there. The seafood content was good — it has shrimps, clams and mussels. My husband had the dol sot bibimbap and he enjoyed it. The banchan /side dishes were good — I like that they include green onion pancake. We also ordered the seafood and green onion pancake. Comes on a hot plate and has lots of seafood in it. It was delicious and not too greasy. It is hard to find Korean green onion pancake that is not super greasy! The owner was there cooking away. She was very friendly and asked us how we liked the food. We will definitely be back! There is street parking outside. It gets a bit smokey in the restaurant especially when they’re making BBQ dishes so don’t wear your best clothes.

They just opened yesterday 4÷28÷2014. My buddy found this place and posted his lunch on Facebook. And, it made me really hungry! After some unofficial discussion, 4 of us decided to come here for dinner! This place is is quite modern for an Asian restaurant. I like it. There’s the open kitchen where they prepare the food. And, there are about 8 – 10 tables. It’s clean and neat. I had to use the laboratory before I ordered my food. I feel it’s very clean too. In addition, there are a handful parking spots in the back, which is super nice. I ordered seafood & beef tofu soup combo. It came with a bowl of Korean purple rice and those little dishes. For soup, you can choose, mild, medium, or spicy. The soup itself was very fulfilling to me. I loved all the little dishes. The new one I’ve never had somewhere else was their sweet beans(it could be fermented). I loved the texture and the taste of it. Little dishes are refillable. And, we had about 2 rounds. I paid just less than $ 12 with taxes and tips for this awesome dinner. I will definitely come back again for their bibimbap. One of the friends had it last night, the portion looked very generous!
