haha they love me here! :) I like this place better than the grocery store why? 1. It’s fast and convenient, instead of waiting for stupid customer service to open up a cabinet to get me liquor at safeway or QFC. UGH. 2. They’re so friendly & nice. After the 1st visit, they quickly remembered me and now they love to banter w/me. 3. Typical liquor store, what you need, is what they got. I’m done buying liquore at the grocery stores because this place is great. They still have normal hours as before: Week days close at 8 I believe, or was that 9? Then Friday-Sat closes at 10.

Hey, what’s great about this liquor store near Safeway in the Rainier Valley is that it is open until 9pm. All the other liquor stores in the Central Area/Capitol Hill seem to close at 7:00 sharp. I’m sure the plans to open this liquor store had been in the works for a long time before the questionable wisdom of Washington voters determined that the liquor stores had to be shut down and people were now supposed to troop into Costco to buy booze. I keep hearing how great it is to be able to buy liquor anywhere, just like how they do it in California, supposedly because selection will be so much better. Oh yeah? Maybe Palm Springs isn’t representative of the entire state of California, but we were there two weeks ago and found liquor selection woeful. Yes it’s true, Target, Safeway and Jensen’s all sold liquor, but had very limited offerings, much less than what your typical state-run liquor store in Oregon or Washington(or Idaho for that matter) has to sell. That being the case, in Palm Springs after striking out at the big stores for what we were looking for, ended up at two different mom-and-pop liquor stores to see if they had what we wanted. No, neither did(or if they did, the particular liquor was only available in an industrial size bottle). So that’s what we have to look forward to in Washington with the law change? Pshaw. I found the variety of gins sold to be very good at this particular WSLCB location. But you know, when I queued up in the line at the checkout counter, I wondered if this was a brand new liquor store established under the new law. I thought that because it seemed like this was a family-run business — the guys working there appeared to be brothers and they weren’t wearing WSLCB get-ups. Also, the debit card machine apparatus was completely different than any other Washington liquor store. Nonetheless, the receipt did show the business name as «WSLCB». We’ll now come here for our purchases until they shut down the store in mid-2012. Update on 2÷29÷12: When I stopped in here the other day, in discussing the closure of WSLCB stores with the cashier, I was elated to be told that this location was staying open with the same selection of hooch. I was also told that Safeway had bought out the Rainier Beach WSLCB location, but would only be offering twenty brands.
