Friendly, quick, and delicious. I go here a few times a week and am never disappointed. It’s hard to be disappointed when someone hands you a perfect cup of anything Stumptown! Get the Nitro Cold Brew on tap if it’s in season. And don’t you dare put anything in it!

Free wifi? Check. Tasty coffe? Check. What more does one need from a coffee shop! I popped by in the middle of a quiet work day and had a table all to myself. Typically I wouldn’t take a large workspace to use for just myself but it was nice and quiet here and many other single and two-top options were taken up by other people who appeared to be working. Beyond free wifi and good coffee there were tea options and baked goods. Cupcakes while you work? Yes puh-lease! Not in the area often but glad to know this Verite is here. Will definitely recommend to friends. Free street parking was also plentiful at this time of the day. Perfect little location to get some work done.

The overpriced coffee is fine(fine, not great), the cupcake is ok. The service is terrible, they are slow and so rude! I have been there many times as it is near by where I live and convenient but without a fail the employees are extremely rude when they speak or they don’t speak at all. I have stopped going there due to their terrible service, they really need to learn what costumer service is or find a different job.

Verite is more than a coffee house; it’s a destination that I’ve traveled to almost daily for 10 years. From the effervescent Jessica, to the hilarious Tamara, über-fast Jacob, and their newest addition, Autumn, I enjoy these wonderful Baristas and the equally wonderful brew they consistently serve up. I’ve never seen my shots sit for even a second; they are immediately(and delicately) poured on top of the hot water, swiftly transforming it into an Americano that meets my lips well before Starbucks generally pours the first shot into the bottom of a paper cup.

It’s always a treat when I can make it down to verite/cupcake royal. The cupcakes are always delicious and the coffee is some of the best in the city made by the best(Jessica!). Located in a very cute/friendly nook of seattle. If only I lived closer…

I’ve had a soft spot for this sweet shop in the Leschi/Madrona area for a long time. They manage to serve delicious cupcakes amid a sea of pink while avoiding being too precious. It’s a good place to study, work, or just hang out and catch up with friends. Close to several parks, it’s also a good place to catch a pre– or post– walk nosh. Teaming up with Verite coffee just puts it way over the top in my book. A perfect cappuccino, served in a tiny light pink demitasse? Yes, please!

The drinks are good and the service was nice, but«Family Friendly» in this case is code for«Full Of Screaming Children Hopped Up on Cupcakes.» Coughing, screaming, running children. Hi-Spot is better if you need a quiet(but not funereal) spot to work.

Typical Seatown coffee shop. Not so typical because it is combined with cupcake royale. I like cupcakes but not crazy about them. I like coffee shops like this that is not so crammed and actually has room to move around. I just ordered a latte here while chatting with a friend. My friend got a cupcake and he felt slightly sick afterwards. Not sure if it was entirely due to the cupcake.

5 years ago I used to come here all the time, but after horrible service after horrible service I can’t even go in if we’re out of coffee beans, or I haven’t been caffeinated for days. There is a red haired manager woman who works there, who I honestly think is the rudest person I’ve ever interacted with. She even yelled at me once to not come back after I complained that they wouldn’t let me bring my tiny tiny 8 week old puppy in to order coffee to go, and I was carrying her in my sweatshirt. I don’t know if you have dogs, but you can’t leave an 8 week old outside, anyway she wouldn’t let me come in or order coffee to go from outside where I was willing to stand holding my puppy. Not a single person there ever remembered me even when I was going daily. They had vita beans and somehow managed to mess up most drinks I ordered, either by burning the shot or not steaming the milk/soy milk enough. Anyway do yourself a favor and go to Hi-Spot instead, they don’t let dogs in either but they at least are friendly, happy to see you, and won’t fuck up an Americano. P. S. cupcakes are over.

All the stuff you need at a great coffee shop: * Good espresso * Wi-fi * big, solid tables * places to sit outside on a nice day in a pleasant part of town Cupcakes are excellent, too. Would definitely come back if I was in the neighborhood.

Verite is like home away from home. Here, I can get mochas as good as the ones pulled and poured at Stumptown Coffee on Division In PDX. Verite’s mochas have a robust chocolate and coffee flavor, and are just a little bit sweet. Speaking of home away from home, this morning I drove by four ladies on the sidewalk right around the corner from my Seattle house. It looked like they were having a placid neighborhood chit-chat. But I doubt it. Nearby, I saw a broken vase in the street and a bunch of clothes strewn out on the the bushes below the house on the corner. The items were probably thrown down there by the girl leaning out the window. I love that when in Seattle I can get my Stumptown beans at Verite. They always offer to grind my beans, but since I have my own grinder, I pass. Today, I picked up the Honduras Finca El Puente beans. I’ve never tried these before. It will be interesting to see how they stack up compared to my favorite Holler Mountain beans. Besides coffee, the big deal at Verite is their cupcakes. Maybe because this is Gay Pride weekend in Seattle, they had all these signs in the store with references to supporting gay cupcakes. Sounds good. But what is the difference between a gay and a straight cupcake? Sorry folks, I just don’t have a punch line handy for that one. I’m sure their Cupcakes Royale are very good, but I don’t understand the hoopla with cupcakes. I remember cupcakes served frequently in kindergarten in Idaho, but little did I know then that I was partaking of haute cuisine. Often a comfortable coffeehouse ambience, but beware, because this is Madrona, plenty of times squealing sugar-infused(but precious and precocious, I’m sure) yuppy children abound.

love that they serve stumptown coffee. This place is in my ‘hood, and when my husband and I go walk our dog, he’ll run in and grab us coffee and a cupcake! fab treat! I also come in here to work every now and then, but during the day it can get loud with little kids coming and going to get their cupcake on. I’ve never been a huuuuuge fan of cupcake royale cupcakes. The cupcakes did get better after they changed the recipe, so the cake isn’t so dry anymore. But the texture is now a little more spongey or pound cakey. I also find the frosting way too sweet and way too much. Still, I get so tempted by the darn things. I didn’t realize they carried Macrina goods, I’m going to have to snag me some of that next time! Parking around here, if you’re not from the ‘hood, is pretty easy. Lots of neighborhood side streets to go down.

This place is fine because it is the only shop in the neighborhood. Cupcakes are sugary, fun flavors and good enough for a convenient location. I’ve heard the owner is a business-type rather than a background in baking, so that shows I guess. The new Capitol Hill location is truly spiffy! [This Madrona one needs first a basic dusting, plus some mopping… then repainting, less grubby chairs, get graffiti off the bathroom walls. It’s OK though, that’s character, right? Or maybe nobody cares.] They are pretty good to dogs, though the water dish is often empty. Their tea situation really, really needs help. So inconsistent. eek Some savory /healthy treats would be a godsend.(like Fuel Coffees does) I stopped by three times about 9am and they had sold out of plain croissants, no apologies. Really? By 9am? More than once? Maaaaaybe you’ll start to order more? Wait and see…

Big fan of this place. Granted, I live in the apartments above, so take this review for what it’s worth. Verite recently switched from Essential Bakery pastries to Macrina pastries. I used to be a 6⁄10 fan of Macrina Bakery, but the apple bran muffin from Macrina at Verite has converted me to a 8⁄10 fan. They also carry Macrina’s walnut/anise biscotti; heaven. I like the staff a lot – friendly manager lady, skinny polite hipster guy and adorable keds/ray ban guy who pulls drinks. There are a lot of kiddos, but this is madrona: there are a lot of kids. Free wifi is great, and the outdoor adirondacks facing east are a great place on a sunny day to do the crossword/pretend you live in a better climate/watch the madrona kid/dog fair go by. And the americanos with three shots/fourth for free: bliss.

Free wifi, electrical outlets, good music, decent coffee and muffins keep me coming back to this sweet little neighborhood joint. But oh how I wish I could buy something more savory or nutritious to eat. Seems like it wouldn’t be too hard to put a bowl of hard-boiled eggs in the self-serve fridge, or little fruit & cheese combos. Thanks to the nearby playground, the toddler set raises the noise level a bit, but their good cheer is a nice counterpoint to the sometimes dour service that seems to be marching through a rotating door … lots of new faces, but not enough happy ones. All the same, I’d rather support them than McStarbucks.

A good place to work in the mornings. Afternoons a lot of screaming kids. Cupcakes are good, coffee is fine but not at all stellar. They have been out of cinnamon for over two weeks(how does THAT happen at a coffee shop– there’s a grocery around the corner?) Not particularly friendly people, and they are super slow. I’ve literally walked out a few times in the AM because I needed to get to work and it was going to take fifteen minutes– and sometimes when only a couple people are in line. So– needs new management. But the cupcakes are good. The caramel icing and salt was ridiculously good. Revising this, because service is definitely friendlier. Keep working on it, Verite! Continuing to revise. Verite is trying to be too edgy– the music today is so grating it’s almost impossible to work and some of the newer help is grouchy again. My orders have been wrong about 30−50% of the time in the last month, though they’re willing to fix it, it’s sometimes with attitude. I have a not very secret hope we’ll get a cozy, comfy, great new coffee spot in Madrona for those of us not wanting to mainline sugar and wanting to act our ages, get some work done, be friendly, enjoy a family spot and a work spot.
